The room, bathed in the warm yellow light of candlelight, also felt eerily lonely. One person inside, another outside, separated only by a door or a window. In the same time, with the same memories, the feelings were different. Perhaps they would never truly understand each other's emotions. If so, how could they possibly get along...?
Nan Zhiyun's complexion wasn't good either. She lay quietly on her side on the bed, her mind blank, as if she wasn't thinking about anything, yet also as if she had a lot on her mind.
Nan Zhiyun couldn't sleep all night. Yu Jingchen also stayed outside all night, his wounds aching terribly, but he seemed oblivious to it.
Fortunately, he could only watch anxiously from the sidelines, unsure of how to offer any advice, and most importantly, His Majesty wouldn't listen. Already injured, he had stood there all night, and his face had turned deathly pale.
"Your Majesty, why don't you go back and rest? Taking care of your health is the most important thing. It's already dawn, and Consort Shu will be fine here. Besides, there are so many palace servants here." Fortunately, he was Yu Jingchen's personal attendant, so he had to say these words.
Yu Jingchen glanced at the sky, wondering if she had rested well last night. She had just woken up, and if she hadn't rested properly, her recovery might not be going well. Besides, her health wasn't good to begin with. Thinking about all this, guilt and heartache welled up again, after all, he was the one who had caused all of this.
"Let's go back," Yu Jingchen finally relented, and Xinglai breathed a sigh of relief. If things had continued like this, he didn't know what to do.
He went to help Yu Jingchen, who was almost unable to stand. He even stumbled as he was about to leave, which startled Xing Lai. Yu Jingchen's condition was not right, and his lips were turning white.
"Your Majesty..." Xinglai called out.
"It's nothing, let's go back." Yu Jingchen waved his hand. Fortunately, he didn't dare to delay and helped Yu Jingchen back to the Imperial Dragon Palace. Then, he immediately summoned the imperial physician, only to find that... Yu Jingchen had a fever.
As for the He'an Palace...
A palace maid brought the washing utensils into the hall. Nan Zhiyun sat on the bed, her hair loose and unadorned. Perhaps because she hadn't slept well the night before, she didn't look well.
"How is Consort Shu feeling today? Should we call the imperial physician to come and take another look?" a palace maid asked.
"No need." Nan Zhiyun prepared to get out of bed, and the palace maid immediately went to help her.
"Yesterday, Her Majesty rested inside the palace. His Majesty was afraid that Her Majesty would be scared at night, so he stood outside the door all night. He just returned. The imperial physician went over and said that His Majesty's condition was not good, and he has started to have a fever." The palace maid helped Nan Zhiyun to sit down at the dressing table next to her, and said as she walked.
Nan Zhiyun's expression didn't seem unusual. Could he get sick too?
