Chapter 97 No charcoal burning?

News of the Imperial Concubine's sudden fainting spell quickly spread throughout the palace. There hadn't been any reports of her being unwell before, so why did she suddenly faint?

So soon, the Imperial Concubine's palace was filled with a group of concubines, each with a face full of "worry".

"Imperial Physician, what's wrong with our Lady?" a palace maid asked anxiously.

"Her Highness the Imperial Concubine is fine; she's just overworked and hasn't had enough rest. You don't need to worry so much," the imperial physician said.

After hearing the imperial physician's words, almost everyone breathed a sigh of relief. However, the implication was perhaps a little different...

Since it turned out to be a false alarm, everyone exchanged a few words of concern and then didn't linger any longer.

Nan Zhiyun didn't come, so Qianxia told her all these things. However, Nan Zhiyun didn't have any particular thoughts after hearing them. Recently, because the Empress Dowager was going back to the palace, the Consort was indeed quite busy.

Yu Jingchen had heard Xinglai mention this matter after the morning court session, but naturally it was none of his business.

"Go to the storeroom and get some tonics to send over, and have the imperial physician take good care of her," Yu Jingchen said symbolically, and Xinglai naturally didn't ask any further questions.

However, with the Imperial Concubine ill, she probably wouldn't have the energy to manage palace affairs. Therefore, Yu Jingchen ordered Imperial Concubine Qing and Imperial Concubine Yu to manage them together.

Because the Empress Dowager was about to return to the palace, Yu Jingchen went to He'an Palace this time. Since Xinglai had informed them in advance, Nan Zhiyun was also waiting at the door to receive him.

When Yu Jingchen came over, he saw Nan Zhiyun standing outside the door, her brows slightly furrowed.

"Your Majesty, this concubine greets you," Nan Zhiyun bowed and paid her respects.

Yu Jingchen stopped in front of her.

"Get up, why are you standing outside? Aren't you afraid of the cold? Come inside," Yu Jingchen said.

"Your Majesty, I will be waiting here," Nan Zhiyun said with a faint smile.

Yu Jingchen glanced at her indifferently, said nothing, and turned to go inside. But just as he turned away, before Nan Zhiyun could see the expression on his face, a small smile appeared on the corner of Yu Jingchen's mouth.

However, once inside the house, Yu Jingchen's expression darkened slightly.

"No charcoal was lit?" Yu Jingchen asked.

"It's burning, but it's probably not very effective because it's too cold," Nan Zhiyun replied.

"What does it matter if the charcoal fire isn't warm enough when it's cold? How can you be so careless?" Yu Jingchen was speechless.

"Then, why is that? They were all burning, and a lot of them were burning." Nan Zhiyun had no experience with these things.

Yu Jingchen didn't know what to say. He was too lazy to communicate with Nan Zhiyun, and instead looked directly at Xing Lai.

“Let’s go take a look,” Yu Jingchen said.

"Yes," Xinglai agreed. He... well, he's just a gofer.

"Come here," Yu Jingchen said, glancing at Nan Zhiyun again.

Nan Zhiyun obediently walked over and called out, "Your Majesty."

“Stretch out your hand,” Yu Jingchen continued.

Nan Zhiyun reached her hand out from inside her wide sleeve.

Yu Jingchen grasped it immediately.

"Why is it so cold? How long have you been standing outside?" Yu Jingchen asked.

"Not long..." Nan Zhiyun's eyes darted away.

"You can't even lie, what else can you do?" Yu Jingchen's tone sounded like he was disappointed in him.
