Yu Jingchen saw Nan Zhiyun's little actions clearly. What was going on? Was she hiding something?
"What's wrong?" Yu Jingchen sat down next to her.
"It's nothing," Nan Zhiyun answered decisively...
But Yu Jingchen wouldn't believe it. The girl looked guilty. Did she think there was nothing wrong with her?
"Why are you still hiding books?" Yu Jingchen raised an eyebrow.
"No..." This time, Nan Zhiyun's answer was not as firm as before.
"Hmm? No? Then why are you so guilty? And why are you blushing?" Yu Jingchen flicked Nan Zhiyun's cheek.
Nan Zhiyun flinched and touched her face, saying, "It hurts..." In fact, Yu Jingchen hadn't used any force at all.
"Take the book out," Yu Jingchen gestured.
"Why?" Nan Zhiyun asked, mustering her courage.
"Let me see what it is that makes our Consort Shu so secretive," Yu Jingchen said, reaching for the book hidden in Nan Zhiyun's hand.
As a result, Nan Zhiyun held on tightly and refused to let go. Yu Jingchen looked at her with a subtle expression: "What's wrong? Is there some unspeakable secret in the book? Or is it really so good that our Consort Shu is reluctant to let go?" Yu Jingchen teased.
“His Majesty doesn’t like to see these things, so why not snatch them…” Nan Zhiyun really seemed unwilling to let go.
His appearance only piqued Yu Jingchen's curiosity even more, so... Yu Jingchen directly pried open Nan Zhiyun's hand and snatched the book away.
"Your Majesty..." Nan Zhiyun seemed a little nervous.
Yu Jingchen ignored him. The first thing he did when he opened the book was to the pages Nan Zhiyun had just been reading; they were still warm. Nan Zhiyun looked away, not daring to look at them again.
As for Yu Jingchen... well, how should I put it? He raised an eyebrow slightly as he looked at the contents of the book, then looked back at Nan Zhiyun, who was already quite embarrassed, and said, "Yun'er was reading with great interest just now, so that's what you were looking at." Yu Jingchen put the book down.
"I haven't seen it before..." Nan Zhiyun said somewhat embarrassedly.
Yu Jingchen understood her subtext: she meant that she had never read this before, so she didn't know what it was about, and besides, it was clearly His Majesty who had it delivered to her...
Yu Jingchen chuckled, "But you didn't put it down just now. Not only did you not put it down, you were looking at it very intently. It seems Yun'er really enjoys watching this kind of thing."
Hearing Yu Jingchen's words, Nan Zhiyun's face turned even redder, and she didn't even know where to begin her defense.
Yu Jingchen found it somewhat amusing, and the next moment...
“If Yun’er likes to watch, why don’t you… try it yourself?” He lifted Nan Zhiyun’s chin and, before Nan Zhiyun could even react, kissed her. Nan Zhiyun was completely bewildered.
However, Yu Jingchen's kiss didn't last long. When he released her, he looked at Nan Zhiyun, who was standing there in a daze, and nudged her forehead: "Are you stupid?"
"Your Majesty," Nan Zhiyun did not expect Yu Jingchen to react this way after seeing it.
The two main characters in this book are very happy and sweet. The book just described an intimate scene between them, but it was just a kiss. However, perhaps it was written in too much detail, so Nan Zhiyun felt a little embarrassed after reading it.
"Yun'er is still too easily embarrassed." Yu Jingchen patted her head and then returned the book to Nan Zhiyun.
"Isn't Your Majesty angry?" Nan Zhiyun thought he would be angry, after all, this kind of scene... would be considered rather explicit and indecent by most people.
"What's the big deal? If you want to see it, then go ahead and see it." Yu Jingchen didn't think there was anything wrong with it. If she liked it, it wouldn't be a big deal. Nan Zhiyun put the storybook away.
"If there's anything you like, you can tell me, and I'll have someone arrange it. There's no need to always be so proper. Just be yourself and don't hide your true feelings." As Yu Jingchen spoke, he pulled the person back into his arms.
"They all say His Majesty prefers those who are dignified and polite..." Nan Zhiyun said softly, but Yu Jingchen still heard her clearly.
"Who told you that? They're definitely lying to you. You're so easily fooled, so easy to believe them. I never said I liked dignified and polite women. The kind of women I like... are all like Yun'er, and there will only ever be one Yun'er." Yu Jingchen said this while gently flicking Nan Zhiyun's nose.
Nan Zhiyun, however, was still immersed in what he had just said...
"What's wrong?" Yu Jingchen asked, looking at the dazed Nan Zhiyun.
"It's nothing," Nan Zhiyun lowered her eyes and quietly leaned against Yu Jingchen. Yu Jingchen was a little puzzled. Wasn't she fine just now? Why is she suddenly unhappy now?
"Did I say something wrong?" Yu Jingchen asked.
Nan Zhiyun shook her head: "No."
This puzzled Yu Jingchen even more. Why was she like this? He helped Nan Zhiyun sit down and asked, "Are you unhappy?"
"I'm fine," Nan Zhiyun said, her eyes red.
Yu Jingchen's brows were furrowed; did he look like nothing was wrong?
"My dear, tell me what's wrong? Why are you unhappy? Did you cry? Look, your eyes are all red." Yu Jingchen was puzzled.
Nan Zhiyun has been asked this question several times, and now she has stopped talking.
"What's wrong? Tell me, okay? Don't make me worry, okay?" Yu Jingchen really didn't understand.
Nan Zhiyun's tears fell instantly after Yu Jingchen coaxed her like that, which startled Yu Jingchen quite a bit.
"What happened? Does your wound hurt? Please tell me, okay? I'm so worried." Yu Jingchen didn't hide anything and quickly pulled the other person back into his arms to comfort him.
Nan Zhiyun shook her head: "It's okay...it's really okay." Nan Zhiyun's voice was filled with heavy sobs.
She just... suddenly felt a pang of sadness and pain in her heart when she heard Yu Jingchen's words. In fact, she had been looking forward to this for a long time. At one time, those few words were her greatest wish for Yu Jingchen.
All her previous efforts might have been for those few words, but Yu Jingchen seemed unlikely to say such things, especially not to her. So she thought she would never hear them again. But just now… Yu Jingchen's simple words broke her defenses. Nan Zhiyun thought she didn't care, but after actually hearing them, she couldn't help but want to cry.
