"...Yin'er, so, this time you're going to choose me?" Gu Yin asked, reaching out to hold Nan Yin's little hand. Nan Yin immediately cheered and opened her little arms as if asking for a hug.
Gu Yin smiled. "Yin'er... wait for me, I'll be back to find you soon..."
This time, besides the few strands of hair in her hand, Nan Yin only chose a pretty bouquet of flowers. Gu Yin looked at her with a complicated expression...
One-year-old baby Nan Yin can already walk. Madam Nan has laid out a plush blanket in the room to prevent little Nan Yin from falling while walking.
Little Nanyin held a rattle drum in her hand. Because she wasn't very steady on her feet yet, the rattle drum made a loud noise when she walked. As if out of curiosity, every time she walked, the rattle drum would make a sound, and then she would stare wide-eyed at the rattle drum in her hand, which was incredibly cute.
Gu Yin remained squatting opposite Xiao Nanyin: "Yin'er, come over here, okay?"
Xiao Nanyin's round eyes were fixed on Gu Yin's direction, her whole face beaming with a bright smile, her eyes squinting like two little moons.
"Come here... let me hug you, okay?" Gu Yin coaxed her.
Xiao Nanyin really did come this way; the little girl was the only one who could see him.
"Giggle...giggle," Xiao Nanyin uttered a few unclear syllables. She could already speak some words, but they weren't very clear yet.
"Children are so fun; they can have so much fun all by themselves," Madam Nan remarked to the servant beside her.
"The young lady is sensible and rarely cries or fusses; she's very well-behaved," a family member said.
Even if she cries, she can stop immediately and then laugh happily, which is amazing.
Xiao Nanyin had already thrown herself into Gu Yin's arms. Gu Yin held her, and Nanyin seemed a little proud, wanting to hand over the toy she was holding to Gu Yin.
But how could Gu Yin possibly hold onto it? The rattle drum fell to the ground in an instant. Xiao Nanyin bent down to pick it up, then stuffed it back into Gu Yin's hands.
"Yinyin, be good, play with this by yourself, okay? I can't carry it," Gu Yin told her.
"Waaah!" Nan Yin burst into tears as soon as she saw the rattle drum fall down again.
Madam Nan was terrified and quickly ran over to pick up Nan Yin: "Oh dear, what happened to our little Yin Yin?"
"Waaah..." Little Nan Yin burst into tears. Madam Nan couldn't comfort her any longer, so she picked up the rattle drum and handed it to Nan Yin: "Does Yin Yin want this?"
But Xiao Nanyin couldn't listen to anything right now. Even though Madam Nan had already handed her the rattle drum, she pushed it away.
Gu Yin felt sorry for his little Yinyin as he watched from the side. He knew that it must be because he hadn't held the rattle drum properly that his little Yinyin was crying.
"Yinyin, be good, don't cry, okay? It's all my fault, it's all my fault. I promise you'll take it when you see the real me, okay?" Gu Yin coaxed her.
"Giggle...giggle," Nan Yin kept crying, mumbling incoherently.
"My dear, Mother is here..." Madam Nan didn't know what was going on either.
Xiao Nanyin tried her best to come over to Gu Yin, but how could Madam Nan possibly know what she meant?
Gu Yin probably guessed it, so he squatted down on the ground. When Xiao Nanyin saw this, she also tried to get down to the ground, but Madam Nan noticed and put her down again.
"What's wrong, Yinyin?" Madam Nan couldn't understand what she was trying to do.
Xiao Nanyin kept heading towards Gu Yin's spot to hug him, and Gu Yin understood her intention perfectly, so he immediately hugged her.
"Waaah..." Xiao Nanyin's crying stopped.
Madam Nan found it strange that Xiao Nanyin suddenly stopped, but she didn't suspect anything, since the little one seemed to always be like this.
Gu Yin looked at the little girl in his arms, her face covered in tears, and felt a pang of heartache. "Yinyin, don't cry, let me hold you." Gu Yin hugged her and gently comforted her.
Nan Yin seemed to understand, and obediently nestled in Gu Yin's arms without saying a word, instead playing with the rattle drum in her hand again.
Gu Yin just watched, and at this moment, Xiao Yin'er's heart softened completely.
But... I can't be with you for much longer... Yinyin, if one day you suddenly can't see me anymore, will you be sad? I want you to feel it... because that would prove you care about me, like me, and want to see me. But... I can't bear to see you sad, what should I do?
Gu Yin's eyes were filled with worry. After a while... he couldn't continue like this.
"Giggle...giggle..." Little Yinyin held up the rattle drum in her hand, her face full of smiles and childlike innocence.
Actually, it would be fine if things stayed this way... but... Xiao Nanyin will grow up eventually...
Time flies, and in the blink of an eye, Xiao Nanyin is already two years old.
Today is her second birthday party. Gu Yin stayed by Nan Yin's side early in the morning, while the little girl was still sleeping.
"Yinyin...aren't you going to wake up?" Gu Yin reached out to touch her face, and Xiao Nanyin opened her eyes as if she had a premonition.
"Oh, you're awake?" Gu Yin looked at her gently.
"Giggle..." Xiao Nanyin didn't cry or fuss at all; she seemed quite excited as she looked at the person in front of her.
"Brother... Yinyin is calling me brother, isn't she?" Gu Yin said with a doting expression. He had always known that Nanyin called him brother.
"Brother..." Nan Yin probably felt that the other person understood her meaning, so she clapped her hands happily and kept calling out, "Brother..."
