Nan Zhiyun couldn't believe Yu Jingchen's words. All her wounds and pain stemmed from him, so how could she possibly trust him?
What's more, Yu Jingchen is really bewildering her now. Why would someone suddenly change so drastically? This is something she can't accept right now. Nan Zhiyun doesn't know what his purpose is in doing this. Is he thinking of some new method, or is it because of what he just mentioned about his father coming back?

"Won't you get bored just sitting here like this?" Yu Jingchen asked her.
"How about I have someone find some good storybooks? Are you interested in reading these things now?" Yu Jingchen asked proactively. Nan Zhiyun was somewhat surprised that Yu Jingchen would bring up these things. Did he even notice these things? However... she didn't dare to be presumptuous, so she gently shook her head.
"In your current state, you still have to stay here for several days. If it's like this every day, can you keep going?" Yu Jingchen prompted Nan Zhiyun to speak to him.
If she keeps being so cautious, when will things get better? So he hopes to gradually help her open up and stop being so afraid.
Nan Zhiyun remained silent. Yu Jingchen sighed, "You can just say what you want. If you don't tell me, I'll have to guess everything. I can't possibly guess everything. Also, if I guess wrong sometimes, or do something you don't like, or give you orders you don't like, are you going to just keep putting up with it?" Yu Jingchen asked her.
Nan Zhiyun felt a deep desolation in her heart. Wasn't this how it was supposed to be? It had always been that she had to do whatever he wanted. No matter what she did, it would be wrong, and once she made a mistake, Yu Jingchen would inflict the cruelest punishment upon her.
How could she possibly believe it based on just a few words? Her silence sent waves of pain through Yu Jingchen's heart; he blamed himself for going too far before.
"I'll have someone prepare a few books for you later, but you can read them when I come over to pass the time. If you're really not interested, just leave them aside; no one will force you to read them. Or if you find reading troublesome and a waste of energy, you can just have the storytellers outside come in and tell you stories," Yu Jingchen said softly.
Nan Zhiyun opened her mouth, but didn't say anything. Yu Jingchen chuckled, then took it upon himself to have some books prepared. Having spent a long time with Nan Zhiyun in his previous life, he knew her preferences intimately.
News of Yu Jingchen leaving Nan Zhiyun in Zichen Palace to recuperate and personally caring for her quickly spread throughout the harem. This sudden change in the Emperor left everyone bewildered and sparked numerous speculations.
The sun slowly set, and the sky grew dark.
The room was lit by candlelight. Yu Jingchen breathed a sigh of relief after Nan Zhiyun woke up. Once she had calmed down a bit, he sat down beside her and dealt with some court matters. It wasn't that he was particularly busy, but rather… the two of them had little to say to each other, making the atmosphere somewhat awkward. "It's getting late, don't you want to rest?" Yu Jingchen sat down and asked her softly. Nan Zhiyun hadn't noticed the time at first, but now, looking at it, it did seem quite late.
"Aren't you sleepy?" he asked.
Nan Zhiyun shook her head, but then seemed to realize that what she was doing was inappropriate, so she immediately stopped. Yu Jingchen knew how she felt and patted her head tenderly: "It's okay, just say what you want to say, express what you want to express. Don't be afraid of these things, okay?" he told Nan Zhiyun.
But Nan Zhiyun just stood there, stunned, without any reaction. Yu Jingchen pulled her into his arms: "Why don't you rest? It's already very late. If you don't rest well, how can your body take it?"
Nan Zhiyun was held in Yu Jingchen's arms, feeling completely numb. Yu Jingchen looked at her and then gently kissed her forehead.
Nan Zhiyun was quite startled by Yu Jingchen's sudden action. His Majesty, what is this...? She instinctively tried to back away, but she couldn't.
"Don't hide, can you really hide?" Yu Jingchen smiled gently.
"Rest now, okay?" Yu Jingchen gently brushed Nan Zhiyun's lips with his hand. Nan Zhiyun was somewhat at a loss because of his series of actions, but she didn't know how to resist.
She could only agree to Yu Jingchen's words and nodded slightly. Sensing her movement, Yu Jingchen released her, helped her lie down, and then got up himself.
At first, she didn't react much when she saw Yu Jingchen's actions. She simply assumed he was leaving, since it was impossible for him to stay with her like this all night. However, she was startled by his next move and her heart instantly tightened.
Because she saw Yu Jingchen go over and extinguish the candles, she immediately wanted to stop him, and a wave of fear rose in her heart. However, she didn't have the courage to stop him.
