Chapter 42 Not Leaving Tonight

Nan Zhiyun didn't know what Yu Jingchen meant, so she could only quietly wait for his "execution."

"Don't say those things again. If you dare to spout such nonsense again, I'll make you copy it thousands of times. Remember that?" Yu Jingchen said this without intending to punish her. Nan Zhiyun was somewhat surprised.

“Yes… Thank you for your forgiveness, Your Majesty,” Nan Zhiyun said cautiously.

"You don't need to copy it today. You can copy it tomorrow. Just hand it over to me within this month," Yu Jingchen continued.

Nan Zhiyun looked at him, and Yu Jingchen had the things taken away.

"Didn't the imperial physician bring you scar-removing ointment today? Go apply it again, and then get some rest tonight. If you're not feeling well, you need to know your limits and take care of your health first before thinking about anything else," Yu Jingchen said.

“Yes…” Nan Zhiyun was somewhat shocked when she heard Yu Jingchen’s words.

"Also, the pills I gave you today were just for digestion. You didn't know how to refuse last night and foolishly ate so many. To avoid feeling unwell later, I had someone bring you digestive medicine. It's not poison, so don't overthink it or do anything stupid," Yu Jingchen added.

"You've eaten so much, you're probably feeling unwell and indigestion, so it's not good for you to just go and rest. But sitting around like this is boring, so I'll find you something to do, and hopefully it'll help you remember what you've been doing. You've been copying for so long, you should be done by now."

Nan Zhiyun almost forgot to react when she heard this. She looked at Yu Jingchen with a blank expression. She didn't expect that Yu Jingchen's purpose would be this.

"You're already silly, and this makes you look even sillier. Take that look away and go rest." Yu Jingchen said with some disdain.

“Yes…” Nan Zhiyun nodded obediently, and then prepared to leave, but stopped halfway.

Nan Zhiyun hesitated for a moment before turning around and looking at Yu Jingchen tentatively.

"What's wrong? Is there anything else?" Yu Jingchen asked, noticing Nan Zhiyun's hesitant expression.

"...Your Majesty, will you stay tonight?" Nan Zhiyun asked cautiously.

"Do you want me to stay?" Yu Jingchen asked in return.

Nan Zhiyun dared not answer. If it were before, she might not have even had the courage to ask this question. It was only because she sensed the change in Yu Jingchen that Nan Zhiyun dared to ask this question, but she did not know how to answer.

It would be a lie to say she didn't want to. In fact, she was almost ready to give up before, but now she seems to have some kind of illusion, so she's become a little attached.

But if she were to express any hope, she wouldn't dare. Firstly, she feared upsetting Yu Jingchen and ruining their hard-won time together. Secondly, she feared his rejection would force her to confront reality once more, leading to further disappointment.

“I’m not leaving tonight, go wash up,” Yu Jingchen said.

Nan Zhiyun was somewhat surprised, but also felt a sense of joy.

"Yes, this concubine takes her leave." Nan Zhiyun didn't realize that her tone had become more relaxed, but Yu Jingchen did.

"Go ahead," Yu Jingchen thought, and his mood inexplicably improved.

Nan Zhiyun quickly withdrew. This time, she did not deliberately delay. When she came out, Yu Jingchen had already changed his clothes.

Without his majestic dragon robe, Yu Jingchen, now dressed in his nightgown, looked much more relaxed and casual, losing the sharpness he displayed during the day.
