In January of the following year, the Empress of Dayuan Kingdom gave birth. Yu Jingchen had been waiting at the gate of Fengyi Palace for a whole day. Nan Zhiyun had a small frame and suffered greatly during childbirth. It had been a whole day and there was still no sign of anything happening.
He listened to the cries of pain coming from inside the palace, his heart aching terribly. Several times he wanted to rush in, but he was stopped by others who said it was bad luck and would affect the delivery. So he could only stand guard outside the door with the Empress Dowager, oh... and Gu Yin and Nan Su as well. However, Gu Yin's attention was not on the room, but on the Empress Dowager.
"How are you? Are you cold?" He was worried that his voice wouldn't be able to stand it in the middle of winter.
The Empress Dowager said helplessly, "You've asked me more than ten times already. You're dressed so warmly and holding a hot water bottle, how could you be cold?" She looked at Gu Yin.
"That won't do either. You can't be out in the wind. It's freezing outside. What if you catch a cold? What if you get sick?" Gu Yin's brows were furrowed, her face full of worry. Her anxious expression made Nan Su quietly move away from them. He was tired of hearing it. He was worried about his daughter, but all he got was Gu Yin's incessant chatter.
"Alright, stop arguing. I'm fine. Yun'er is still inside." The Empress Dowager was at a loss. Gu Yin used to be very proper and always behaved himself properly, but lately he had really become reckless.
Gu Yin reached out and touched the Empress Dowager's hand to check its temperature: "I already said that she is blessed with good fortune and will be fine. It's just that it will take a while, but she will be safe and sound in the end. Shall I take you back first? Or go to the side hall to sit for a while? You have been standing outside for almost an hour."
"No need, why are you so talkative?" The Empress Dowager complained a few times, but Gu Yin didn't care: "Then lean against me for a while, you must be tired after standing for so long." As he spoke, he pulled the Empress Dowager into his arms, and the Empress Dowager felt a little uncomfortable: "There are so many people here."
"They've seen it before, come on, lean against me for a bit." Gu Yin was becoming increasingly "lawless".
The Empress Dowager was about to say something when Nan Zhiyun's shout came from inside the hall, indicating that the attack had begun.
Yu Jingchen paced back and forth outside, listening to the shouts, his mind uneasy. He probably wished he could go in and take the pain for her.
"Your Majesty!" Nan Zhiyun called from inside; she was crying, her voice thick with sobs.
Yu Jingchen couldn't hold back any longer, so he ignored all attempts to stop him and went straight into the delivery room. Fortunately, he couldn't be stopped no matter how hard he tried.
When he entered, everyone in the room was startled: "Your Majesty..."
"Don't worry about me." Yu Jingchen went straight to Nan Zhiyun's side. Nan Zhiyun's hair was already soaked with sweat, and she was in pain with her face scrunched up.
"Your Majesty...it hurts..." When she saw Yu Jingchen arrive, she immediately became aggrieved. She was also the little girl whom Yu Jingchen had cherished and protected as she grew up, so it was natural for her to feel aggrieved in front of him.
"Yes, I'm here. Don't be afraid. I'll stay with you, okay?" Yu Jingchen held Nan Zhiyun's hand, his voice gentle and comforting.
Nan Zhiyun was in excruciating pain, and she pinched Yu Jingchen's hand hard: "I don't want a baby anymore~" Nan Zhiyun started to whine.
"Okay, I don't want the baby anymore. Be good and don't cry. It's all my fault. I won't have any more children." What could Yu Jingchen do? He could only coax her!
(Will this post get over ten comments? Or... I'll update again (part 2) if it does? Hahahaha)
