Chapter 6 [Please add to your favorites]

The situation inside the convenience store surprised Lin Leyou somewhat.

Although it was a small village, the shop was decorated in a very modern style. The room was very clean, and there were clothes in the wardrobe. He glanced at them and found that they were all his size.

Wow, that's impressive. It hasn't been that long since he signed up. But thinking about what kind of place this is, he's no longer surprised. As long as he doesn't break the rules, he'll definitely be fine.

He touched his stomach and checked the time. It was already 6 p.m., and the convenience store was open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., so it should be closing now.

Although the seven-day work period starts at midnight tonight, since he has already arrived in the village, it would be more prudent to follow the village's rules even before it begins.

He walked to the door and looked outside. Song Ying was nowhere to be seen. He didn't bother to find out when he left, and simply closed and locked the door.

Lin Leyou turned on the light. "Wow, it's pretty bright."

"I'm hungry, shall we get something to eat first?"

Lin Leyou walked around the convenience store a few times. Of course, there was no fresh food, but there were some frozen goods in the refrigerator and eggs at the door.

He grabbed two eggs, some instant noodles, and some ready-to-eat meat, went to the small kitchen, and made himself a fairly hearty dinner.

Night fell, and it was completely dark outside. Looking out the window, it was pitch black, and you couldn't see anything. However, you could see some scattered lights in the distance, which were probably lights from other people's homes.

Lin Leyou drew the curtains and lay on the clean and tidy bed, pondering what to do next.

The items in the store are really expensive. If you earn 10 points per work session, it will take a long time for him to afford even the cheapest weapon.

That would be too slow, and the cheapest option wouldn't be of much use to me anyway.

As he pondered, he succumbed to sleepiness and slowly drifted off to sleep.

Xue Rui rolled up the sleeve of his right hand and looked at his wrist, which had been hidden by the sleeve. There was a circular pattern on his wrist that most people didn't have, which emitted a faint glow.

He touched it gently, and then a virtual panel appeared in front of him. There was nothing on it except a countdown timer.

There are about 30 minutes left in the countdown.

He had made this thing before when there were other people around, but no one else could see it except himself. Even the glowing little circle on his wrist was only visible to himself.

He knew nothing about this thing, nor did he know when it appeared on him; he only knew that it was already there when he noticed it.

He had no idea what this thing represented, nor could he find any other information about it, and he didn't even know what would happen after the countdown ended.

But he was certain that something bad would happen.

Xue Rui sighed deeply. There was nothing he could do now but wait, and even if he asked for help, no one would believe him.

She also has a stepmother who is always eyeing her with hostility. If she says she has seen something strange, her stepmother will immediately urge her father to send her to a mental hospital.

He had endured so much hardship since his mother's passing, and he couldn't afford to let it all slip away now. He only had one more year until he graduated high school, at which point he would be an adult and could start working at the company…

And his father... ah!

If it weren't for the pressure from my grandfather and maternal grandfather, they might have kicked me out of the house long ago! But they treat that illegitimate child very well.

Xue Rui knew that no one could help him. Even his grandfather, who was on his side, cared about his reputation and couldn't let a lowly illegitimate son take over anything in the Xue family. His maternal grandfather helped him only because he was the only son of his only daughter.

Faced with such a bizarre situation, only he himself could help.

Time passed by, half an hour was neither short nor long. Xue Rui sat motionless on the edge of the bed during this time.

With ten seconds left on the countdown, Xue Rui's eyes sharpened as he stared intently at the screen until the countdown reached zero.

He didn't know how he did it, but Xue Rui was staring intently at the screen, and in the blink of an eye, when he came back to his senses, he found himself standing on a dirt road full of fog.

Something mysterious transported him from the room to this place.

The path was surrounded by thick fog, with visibility limited to only two or three meters at most.

Xue Rui cautiously observed his surroundings and soon heard footsteps and a lot of panicked voices.

"Is anyone there...?"

"Someone's here! Someone's here!"

"Where am I? This is terrifying! What kind of place is this...?"

As the voices rang out, more and more people appeared around him.

Before long, the people who had appeared in the vicinity gathered together. Xue Rui counted them roughly; there were twenty people, half men and half women.

Two girls who looked like students, upon seeing so many people, wiped away their tears and asked, "What's going on? Does anyone know where we are? I'm definitely at home..."

"I was at home too! But I suddenly appeared here after the countdown ended. It must be some kind of paranormal event, right?"

"This place is so scary, I want to go home..."

Xue Rui subconsciously touched the spot on his wrist where the circle was, and then his own panel appeared in front of him. He wanted to turn it off, but the next second he found that the information on the panel had changed.

Name: Xue Rui

Money: 0

Points: 0

Talent: None

Of course, besides him, other people also discovered this.

"Hey, look! The countdown panel has changed!"

Everyone then checked their own panels, and Xue Rui confirmed one thing: even people who had the same panel could not see each other's panels.

"What?! Zero money, zero points, and zero talent..."

"This thing is irrelevant, the key question is what we need to do now? How do we get out of here? What is the purpose of the thing that brought us here!"

"I... want to go home. It's so scary here... I feel like something might come out of the fog at any moment."

Xue Rui looked around and found that the fog seemed to have dissipated considerably; at least twenty people standing together could see each other.

"Hey, look, someone's coming over there!"

Everyone instinctively looked ahead at the road, and indeed, several figures could be vaguely seen in the thick fog. Everyone huddled together, afraid to speak, some so frightened that they didn't even dare to breathe.
