Chapter 71 [(*^▽^*)]
Just as Lin Leyou was about to turn back, he suddenly heard a child crying. He blinked. A clue had come to him on its own?
Without hesitation, he followed the sound of crying and eventually reached the lakeside in the community, where he found the little boy huddled on a chair with his head buried in his knees.
He watched for a while. The little boy was crying very sadly, but the crying wasn't very loud. If he hadn't been nearby just now, he wouldn't have heard the commotion.
By this time, the little boy had gradually stopped crying. He looked up, wiped his tears, and then saw him.
He was probably startled because he didn't expect anyone to be nearby, and then he hiccuped.
Lin Leyou found it somewhat amusing, but since the child was crying here, she still had to ask, "Little friend, whose family are you from? I'll take you home?"
The little boy came to his senses. He was a little flustered at first, but he felt much more at ease after seeing his clothes. "Brother, I... I live in Building 3."
Lin Leyou slowly walked over and sat down next to him. "Why are you alone by the lake? That's dangerous. By the way, what's your name?"
The little boy said, "My name is Liu Liu."
Lin Leyou: "Six six? Is it the number six?"
Liu Liu: "Yes."
Lin Leyou: "Then tell me, what exactly happened?"
Liu Liu seemed a little hesitant, but he still looked like he wanted to talk to someone.
"Brother, I'm so scared. Mom found a tutor for me to teach math, but I don't like her. She's really mean..."
Lin Leyou: "How fierce was she? Did she hit you?"
Liu Liu nodded, then shook her head. "She called me stupid, saying I couldn't learn no matter how I was taught, but she didn't hit me."
Lin Leyou, "Did you tell your mother?"
Liu Liu seemed very upset. "I told her, but Mom didn't believe me. She said I just didn't want to study math, so I lied and slandered Auntie, and she made me apologize."
Lin Leyou: "Really? Then what do you plan to do?"
Liu Liu was in a dilemma. He didn't know what to do. He only knew that he had been wronged. Not only did his mother not stand by his side, but she also helped that mean aunt to bully him.
Lin Leyou: "Then...where's Dad?"
Liu Liu was silent for a while before saying, "Dad... I don't have a dad. Mom said Dad is dead. I've never seen him. Before, when I said I wanted to go to sweep his grave, Mom said I didn't need to go."
Lin Leyou blinked, guessing that her mother was pregnant out of wedlock and then broke up with her boyfriend, giving birth to the child herself and raising him, or that her father really died and her mother hated that man so much that she never let the child know who he was.
Who's in your family now?
Liu Liu clenched her fingers. "There's a bad mom and a bad aunt."
Lin Leyou nodded and held out her hand to him, "Come on, take my hand, I'll take you home, and then I'll have a good talk with your mother."
Liu Liu stared at Lin Leyou for a while, hesitated for a moment, and then took his hand. Following the direction Liu Liu indicated, Lin Leyou arrived at Room 101, Unit 5, Building 3.
He knocked on the door, and someone quickly opened it for them. Before even seeing who was outside, they started cursing, "You little bastard, you know how to come back? You think you can skip class just by running away? Really..."
She only noticed Lin Leyou holding Liu Liu's hand halfway through her sentence. The woman's face twisted for a moment, then changed instantly, becoming gentle and virtuous. If Lin Leyou wasn't mistaken, there was even a hint of fear in her eyes.
What does this mean?
Afraid of him?
"Oh dear, this is...you're a security guard, right? What happened to Liu Liu?"
Lin Leyou: "It's nothing, the child got lost, I'm taking him home. Are you the child's mother?"
The woman gritted her teeth, her smile somewhat awkward, "Um...no, I'm the child's teacher."
Lin Leyou's eyes immediately turned icy cold. "Since you're a teacher, how can you just scold a child like that? This child is your client, and besides... were you sincere about what you just said?"
"You use the word 'bastard' to describe a child like Liu Liu?"
The female teacher probably never expected Liu Liu to bring security guards, so she didn't restrain herself at all and didn't know what to do for a moment.
Lin Leyou made the decision for her: "Is the child's mother here? Call her out."
If she was there, it means that the female teacher's actions were all tacitly approved. If the other party was at home, they would have heard the female teacher cursing earlier, so this needs to be investigated thoroughly.
If she wasn't home, that would be easier to handle, as the other party would likely be unaware of the female teacher's behavior.
The female teacher's lips twitched, and she said, "The child's mother just went out. I hope you understand. It's really not easy for a woman to raise a child alone. She has to spend a lot of time at work because she needs to earn more money to support the family."
Lin Leyou nodded, "That's definitely true."
Just as the female teacher smiled, Lin Leyou continued, "So you took advantage of the time when Liu Liu's mother was too busy to come home and treated her child the way you just did?"
The female teacher was taken aback by Lin Leyou's sudden attack. Her smile froze on her face, and she didn't know what to say. Fortunately, she was thick-skinned.
"Well, let the child come in first. He slipped out earlier and missed some class time. We need to make up for that missed time as soon as possible."
Lin Leyou looked at the child, "Liu Liu, do you have class?"
Liu Liu shook her head in dissatisfaction, grabbed his trouser leg and stood behind him, looking unwilling but also seemingly afraid of the female teacher, and dared not speak.
The female teacher's expression was rather unpleasant, but she couldn't do anything in front of Lin Leyou, so she could only suppress her anger and say, "Comrade, the child needs to go to class now, please come in."
Lin Leyou couldn't really keep the child by her side, so she said, "Give me the child's mother's phone number, I'll call and ask."
The female teacher was a little flustered. "Huh? What? What are you asking? What's there to ask?"
Lin Leyou frowned slightly. "What's wrong? It's normal for me to contact the parents when I see a child alone in the neighborhood. After all, you said you're a teacher, but I've never seen you before. I can't just take your word for it, right?"
"I understand your job, and you should also understand mine. I am a security guard in the community, and I have to do my best to maintain order in the community."
The female teacher said, "Isn't it enough that this child recognizes me? Why are you making such a fuss?"
Lin Leyou remained unmoved and insisted on contacting her parents, her attitude very firm: "If you don't give me their contact information, I'll go to the property management office to check myself; I can find out anyway."
The female teacher's face stiffened. "Let me check my phone. Please wait a moment."
The female teacher went inside to look for her phone, then came back and said regretfully, "I'm sorry, my phone died and turned off. I also didn't memorize Liu Liu's mother's phone number. I'm really sorry, you see..."
Lin Leyou blinked. "Oh, I see. I'll call the property management and ask. It'll be quick. Just wait a moment, don't worry."
The female teacher was now genuinely flustered. Lin Leyou noticed his eyes darting around, looking here and there, and she felt guilty.
Is this female teacher related to his task?
Lin Leyou quickly contacted the property management and found the phone number of the homeowner.
He dialed the phone number one by one in front of the female teacher. Just as his fingers were about to land on the dial key, the female teacher suddenly reached out with both hands towards Lin Leyou, as if to snatch his phone.
Lin Leyou immediately grabbed her child, put away her phone, and strode back, avoiding the female teacher's hand.
As he was about to run out, he discovered that the female teacher was still standing there, her feet inside the door. Although her movements seemed large, she had not crossed the line.
Lin Leyou had a guess in his mind.
The female teacher stood there, staring intently at them with her eyes full of resentment and bitterness.
Lin Leyou didn't realize anything yet; the female teacher hadn't turned into a ghost. However, she then slammed the door shut right in front of them.
"Liu Liu, what's going on? She won't let you in?"
Liu Liu shook her head. "I don't know either. This is the first time the teacher has done this. She used to never let me go out, but once I did, she would make me go back immediately."
Lin Leyou: "When did she arrive? Did she sleep at your house last night? She's never left your house?"
Liu Liu nodded, "That's right, brother!"
Lin Leyou touched his chin. This was strange. Could this female teacher be a bound spirit?
This doesn't seem quite right.
He looked at the number he had just dialed on his phone. "Liu Liu, do you think this is your mother's number?"
Liu Liu leaned over to look at the phone screen and read it aloud, "Yes, brother, this is Mom's number. Brother, please call Mom quickly, I really miss Mom!"
Lin Leyou: "Okay, I'll hurry up."
He thought about it for a while and decided to dial the number. He pressed the dial button and immediately heard the phone ringing from inside the door that had just been slammed shut.
"Liu Liu, this phone ringtone..."
Liu Liu was a little confused. "It's Mom's."
Lin Leyou, "Did your mother forget her phone when she went out?"
What can we do? If we can't contact the child's parents, are we just supposed to wait outside for the child's mother to come home from work?
Liu Liu was also stunned. He stared blankly at his own door, not knowing what to do, as if he was about to cry.
Lin Leyou said, "In that case, why don't you come back to the security room with me first? Mom will come to pick you up after get off work."
Although Liu Liu was unwilling, she knew that this was the only way now.
Lin Leyou was holding Liu Liu's little hand, about to take her away, but then he suddenly felt something was strange and his gaze shifted to the door behind him.
Could it be...?
