Chapter 73 [(*^▽^*)]
The captain and Lin Leyou walked to the outside door, and Lin Leyou suddenly noticed that the door he had blocked with something earlier had changed!
The small cabinet he had used as a precaution to block the door had been moved, and the door was now half-closed.
In other words, if they had come out any later, the door would have closed.
He didn't know what would happen after the door was closed, but it certainly wouldn't be a good thing.
Lin Leyou pointed to the door. "Captain, look, wasn't someone just here?"
The captain glanced at him but didn't say much. Instead, he told him, "Xiao Lin, go and bring Liu Liu back."
Lin Leyou glanced at the captain and realized that he really didn't seem to be paying attention to the door issue. He hesitated for a moment, but soon went over anyway.
However, before he left, he made a point of moving the cabinet back to its original position to block the door, so that it shouldn't be closed before he brought Liu Liu back.
The captain seemed not to notice his behavior. After Lin Leyou went to the security room, he quickly found Liu Liu playing alone in the corner. "Liu Liu, let's go, I'll take you home."
Liu Liu hurriedly ran over, "Brother, Mom..."
Lin Leyou picked up the child and said, "I've been waiting for you at home."
Liu Liu was immediately overjoyed, and hugged his neck with a grin, "Really? Hurry, I want to go home quickly!"
Lin Leyou quickened his pace following his momentum. When they returned to the house, Lin Leyou wondered if it was just his imagination, but he felt that Liu Liu's expression stiffened for a moment when he saw the small cabinet blocking the doorway.
Zhou Keke had already changed her clothes and was in the living room. The moment Liu Liu walked in, Zhou Keke hugged her tightly. "Liu Liu, why did you run out by yourself? Mom was so worried about you!"
Zhou Liu: "Mom, I miss you so much too."
Zhou Keke: "By the way, Liu Liu, what's this about the math teacher you mentioned? Mom has never hired a tutor. Are you lying? Who was that auntie who opened the door for you earlier?"
Liu Liu fell silent, standing there fiddling with her fingers, not saying a word. She looked very guilty, clearly having made a mistake.
Zhou Keke sighed, stood up and bowed slightly to the team leader, "I'm sorry, it must be Liu Liu being naughty. She just randomly found an aunt she knew to pretend to be a tutor."
Why did the child do that?
Zhou Keke looked a little embarrassed. "It's all my fault. I'm so busy during the day that I don't have time to spend with my child. I go to work during the day, and my child stays at home. I'm afraid he'll have an accident if he goes out, so I lock him in the house..."
Lin Leyou: "So Liu Liu wanted to go out and play, that's why she asked that auntie to come?"
Liu Liu hesitated for a moment and then nodded. "I'm sorry, brother."
Lin Leyou smiled and said, "It's nothing, it's not a big deal. Liu Liu, tell your brother who this aunt is, okay?"
Zhou Liu hesitated for a moment, then finally said, "It's the aunt upstairs."
upstairs?
This is room 101, so upstairs is room 201?
Zhou Keke: "That's impossible! No one lives upstairs, the entire second floor is empty! Liu Liu, did you really find the auntie upstairs... the one on the second floor? Or the one on the third or fourth floor?"
Liu Liu: "No, Mom, it's the auntie who lives upstairs in 201. I like her a lot. She always plays with me, talks to me, and gives me treats... She's just a little bit fierce."
"But it's okay, Auntie will play with me, and I'm happy."
Thinking of that female teacher, Lin Leyou felt that she was not only a bit fierce, but also spoke very harshly, actually scolding a child like that.
He thought that if he were really happy, he probably wouldn't have run out and run into him today.
Zhou Keke really couldn't accept her child's statement, and looked at the security captain, "Well... there's definitely no one living on the second floor, I'm sure of that. It must be some woman who came here and did this on purpose, she definitely has designs on my Liu Liu!"
The captain said, "Only Liu Liu and one of my security guards have seen that woman. If we want to find her, we can only search slowly. If we post a notice, it may cause panic among the residents. So give us some time, and we will definitely be able to find her."
Zhou Keke: "Okay then, hurry up and find one, otherwise I won't dare leave the child at home anymore."
The captain and Lin Leyou were speechless. Even at this point, after such a thing had happened, this woman still wanted to leave her child alone at home.
Lin Leyou followed the team leader back to the property management office, where they searched through all the residents' information. Finally, Lin Leyou shook his head, "No, none of them are the women I saw before."
The captain sighed, "In that case, there's nothing we can do for now. The surveillance cameras didn't capture anything either. Maybe they slipped away through another route. Remember to be more careful when you patrol the neighborhood from now on."
"It could be something else, anyway, be extra careful, okay?"
Lin Leyou nodded. Needless to say, this female teacher was absolutely suspicious and most likely a monster.
However, it was still working hours, and he was wearing a uniform, so he wasn't afraid of being attacked. He turned around and continued patrolling the neighborhood. He also took note of the information he had seen at the property management office earlier about a couple who had been arguing at home.
The family living in Unit 3 of Building 2.
Lin Leyou noted down two names and their appearances: "Fu Lin and Wu Zhen, no children."
He took out his phone and looked at the photos he had taken, including two passport photos and their basic information. He thought he should keep an eye on them when he had time; maybe he would find something interesting.
Passing by the place where he had previously met with the players, Lin Leyou noticed several players gathered there, seemingly discussing something.
They waved to Lin Leyou when they saw him.
Lin Leyou looked around, then slowly walked over. "What's wrong?"
A man in a suit said, "We've searched everywhere, but we haven't found any of the remaining five players. Don't you think something's wrong?"
Lin Leyou blinked. Something was bound to happen, after all, this was no ordinary neighborhood, and now it had become a dungeon.
And not five, but six.
"If we can't find it, then let's just forget about it and find clues to complete the mission first. If we keep spending time on this, it will delay the mission and may cause problems."
Everyone felt that those who couldn't be found were most likely dead. "You're right, we should continue looking for clues."
"By the way, do you have any leads?"
"No, I searched the whole neighborhood, but everything was normal, and I didn't find anything."
"Yeah, I thought ghosts would suddenly appear out of nowhere, but I didn't find a single one."
"Where are we supposed to find the BOSS? Not to mention there are bound to be a lot of mobs too."
"I did find a strange place."
Tell me about it, and we can go take a look together.
The person who discovered that strange place was actually too scared to go alone; if everyone had gone together, there definitely wouldn't have been a problem.
"It's near Building 6. I originally planned to go to the rooftop to take a look, but when I got there, I felt scared and didn't dare to go in. I heard strange noises when I left. There was no one around at the time, so I came back because I was a little scared."
Everyone looked at each other, wondering, "What kind of sound was that?"
He tried hard to recall the sound he had heard earlier, "Hmm... it was probably that crunching sound, like the sound of gnawing on a bone."
Lin Leyou said, "Let's go take a look. I'm on patrol anyway."
Some hesitated, "But not everyone has arrived yet."
Lin Leyou thought for a moment, "We were searching separately before, and there was no fixed time. What if they were delayed by something else? We can't just wait here forever."
He could die outright, but he couldn't say that directly.
Everyone agreed with what he said. If they don't come, are they supposed to go find someone else? Or just keep waiting here? Neither of those options is realistic.
In the end, everyone decided to go and check it out as soon as possible, so that if there was anything going on, they could deal with it quickly and obtain some information.
Lin Leyou followed everyone over. He was wearing a security guard uniform, which gave everyone a sense of security. When they arrived at Building 6, everyone realized that something was wrong.
They didn't need to go up to the rooftop; they could see a person standing on the edge of the rooftop from right downstairs.
"I said... is this person going to jump off a building?"
Lin Leyou looked at her carefully for a few moments and suddenly realized that he had actually seen this woman before!
The female teacher at Zhou Keke's house—Zhou Keke had no recollection of her at all, but Liu Liu, the child, liked her very much, even though she swore, cursed, had a bad temper, was hypocritical, greedy, and had poor acting skills.
Are we really going to jump?
Who exactly is this woman? How do we find out her identity? None of the residents in this community know her.
Could it really be a female ghost?
"Oh, she turned around and stopped jumping!"
"I can't see anyone. Did they go downstairs? Should we go up and check?"
Lin Leyou hurriedly ran into the building, shouting, "Let's go, hurry up!"
Everyone ran forward, afraid that they would miss some clues if they ran too slowly, and they quickly made their way to the rooftop.
But when they finally opened the door and walked to the rooftop, panting, they didn't find the woman from before. There wasn't even a shadow of her.
"Huff...huff...Oh my god, where...huff...where is everyone?"
"She's gone. Did she leave? Did she live in this building?"
"That was incredibly fast! Did they take the elevator down?"
Lin Leyou, however, didn't think so. When he opened that door just now, he noticed that the dust on the doorknob hadn't been wiped off at all, especially the spider web connecting the door frame and the wall when he opened the door...
