One of the two was a disciple of Phoenix Pavilion, and the other was a man of Zhou Ji. They had brought hoes and shovels with them when they arrived, and upon hearing this, they immediately began to dig up the grave.
The soil had just been buried and was still loose, so the two of them dug the grave open in a short while.
"There isn't even a coffin. What does the Phoenix Lord mean by this? Doesn't he love Su Jinxia very much?" Zhou Ji's men asked curiously.
"What love? Su Jinxia hurt him so deeply, it's good enough that he doesn't hate her to death."
"Dig carefully, don't damage the body."
The two men dug up the body and carefully removed the soil bit by bit. Zhou Ji's men even lit a tinderbox and held it near the head of the corpse to examine it.
The corpse's face was ashen, but Su Jinxia's features were still discernible.
Zhou Ji's men were relieved and took out a knife to cut open the corpse and collect Su Jin's blood.
Afterwards, the two restored the grave and left quietly.
They thought they were doing all this secretly, unaware that two pairs of eyes were watching everything from a high hilltop.
"He even wants the blood of the dead? Zhou Ji is truly insane." Su Hu's eyes were full of contempt.
Zhou Ji's actions repeatedly challenged Shen Qianxue's understanding, but Shen Qianxue remained indifferent.
Su Hu, however, still felt it wasn't enough. His pent-up frustration was burning, and he couldn't hold back any longer. He said sarcastically, "I had only heard that the Phoenix Lord was exceptionally intelligent and skilled in martial arts, a rare talent in the world. I never expected that she would be so blind as to believe in a treacherous villain like Zhou Ji. It's truly laughable!"
Shen Qianxue pursed her lips and remained silent, her eyes pitch black in the darkness.
Su Hu turned his head and glanced at the silent Shen Qianxue, his anger burning even more fiercely. "If you hadn't helped Zhou Ji raise an army, A Jin wouldn't have had to work so hard. Maybe she'd still be alive and kicking, maybe she could have seen the unification of the world much sooner. The one who stood in her way was never Zhou Ji, but you!"
Shen Qianxue bit her lip.
Su Hu is right. It was only because Shen Qianxue protected Zhou Ji that Su Jin was restrained.
Seeing that Shen Qianxue remained unmoved, Su Hu gripped his sword tightly. "Even now, don't you feel even a trace of remorse?"
Shen Qianxue gently closed her eyes, suppressing the turbulent emotions in her heart, and said coldly, "Even so, she deceived me and used me. We're even now."
"Hmph!" Su Hu suddenly grabbed Shen Qianxue's collar. "Even if we're even? What a joke! You owe her something you'll never be even in this lifetime!"
Shen Qianxue was offended, and a cold glint flashed in her eyes. "I've only tolerated you because of her. Don't push your luck."
Su Hu chuckled lightly, "Shen Qianxue, she wants to make things easier for you, to make you feel more at ease, but why? She's done so much for you, why don't you know it? Why can you still resent her here!"
Shen Qianxue gripped Su Hu's wrist and said coldly, "Let go!"
What if I don't let go?
Su Hu was unwilling to show weakness.
Suddenly, Shen Qianxue's aura surged, shaking Su Hu away.
After Su Hu took two steps back, his fierce aura intensified, and he really wanted to give Shen Qianxue a good beating.
Shen Qianxue felt the same way; he was filled with pent-up frustration that he couldn't vent.
Thus, a battle was about to break out.
In the darkness of the woods, two figures crossed paths. They didn't draw their swords, but their fists struck each other hard, and soon they were both bruised and swollen.
In terms of martial arts and internal strength, Shen Qianxue is slightly better, but with the help of the Zi Gu, Su Hu can fight her to a draw.
After a long time, the two were exhausted and finally rested.
Shen Qianxue leaned against a tree, trying to calm her racing heart, while Su Hu couldn't hold back and coughed up a mouthful of blood.
In comparison, Shen Qianxue is the winner.
Shen Qianxue chuckled lightly, a hint of smugness in his eyes. He tilted his head back and looked at Su Hu with disdain. "If you really have something to say, just say it. If you're too scared to say it, then get lost and stop trying to beat around the bush with me."
Su Hu clenched his fists, his pupils gradually shrinking, revealing a hint of resentment and jealousy.
Su Hu raised his head, gritting his teeth, "I don't know anything, but I remember one thing. That rainy night, I woke up from my coma and heard crying in the room. I ran in and saw that she was crying her eyes out, unable to breathe, and kneeling on the ground picking up the jade pieces that had been shattered into pieces."
Shen Qianxue's expression changed instantly.
Su Hu didn't say which rainy night it was, but Shen Qianxue knew perfectly well.
The night Su Jinxia confessed to her that everything was a ploy and that he had never loved her, Shen Qianxue angrily smashed the jade she had given him.
She cried? And she picked up the broken jade pieces.
A sharp pain suddenly shot from the depths of my heart to every part of my body.
Seeing Shen Qianxue in pain, Su Hu felt a surge of satisfaction. Since he had already said it, Su Hu decided to say it all at once.
"You actually believed her when she said she got the black mushroom for you on the side? Do you know that two months ago, she went alone to the city lord's mansion in Jicheng to find the black mushroom for you, and ended up covered in injuries?"
“Two days ago, Nie Qingyi was dying when she told her that the black mushroom was fake. She abandoned her research on the antidote for the Glazed Gu and went to find Zhou Ji without stopping.”
"She arranged everything for you, but why should you enjoy her kindness? Besides hurting her and going against her, what else have you done?"
"Does it hurt? You deserve it!"
"I hope you remember your last words to her: never forgive her, and never appear in front of her again!"
Su Hu glanced at Shen Qianxue and strode away.
Shen Qianxue swayed, coughed up a mouthful of blood, and knelt on the ground.
A soft, suppressed sob rose, and tears silently fell onto the earth.
Just as I thought!
"Su Jinxia, what right do you have!"
"What right do you have to make decisions for me!"
Shen Qianxue roared, her eyes bloodshot!
As the night deepened and all was quiet, a carriage sped along the road. The carriage was luxurious, pulled by two horses, and moved quickly and steadily. Several other horses could be seen silently following behind.
The driver was Su Hu, and inside the carriage, Su Jin lay peacefully, the dim yellow oil lamp illuminating her pale face. Her hands were placed on her chest, and she was still clutching a piece of cloth that had been left on her brocade robe.
Two people were sitting next to Su Jinxia. One of them grumbled, "The nun rushed over to save Su Jinxia, but the Phoenix Lord didn't even say a word of extra concern."
The speaker was the young nun who served Abbess Wangchen.
Master Wangchen lowered her eyes slightly, took a handkerchief and gently wiped Su Jinxia's cheek. She said softly, "Qianxue doesn't hate me, that's already the best."
The little nun pounded her chest in anger, “But the nun did a lot for him too. You heard that Su Jinxia is the Phoenix Lord’s fiancée. Fearing that the Phoenix Lord would be heartbroken if Su Jinxia died, she searched everywhere for good medicine, which saved Su Jinxia’s life.”
Master Wangchen looked at Su Jinxia with gentle eyes and brows. "I saved Su Jinxia not only because of Qianxue, after all, this little girl called me 'mother' when we first met."
