Su Jinxia held the nun's hand and explained softly, "Qianxue and I had a little conflict before, and I accidentally revealed that I was poisoned in Phoenix Pavilion and fell off a cliff. It happened in my courtyard, and my father heard it, so he has a knot in his heart and has been unwilling to let go."
The nun was extremely surprised. Poisoned? Fallen off a cliff? These were things she didn't know either.
Upon hearing this, the nun completely understood. If her daughter had suffered such harm at Phoenix Pavilion, she would never have married her daughter off to Phoenix Pavilion.
Seeing that the nun's brows had become heavy, Su Jinxia smiled and reassured her, "Don't worry, it wasn't easy for Qianxue and me to get to this point. Unless one of us dies first, no one can separate us."
“My father is a reasonable man. He will understand once I slowly tell him about Qianxue and me.”
The nun looked at Su Jinxia with satisfaction, "Qianxue is extremely fortunate to have met such a wonderful woman as you."
Su Jin immediately grinned widely, "I am extremely fortunate to have met such an outstanding man as Shen Qianxue."
The nun and Su Jinxia exchanged a smile.
Su Jinxia escorted the nun back to Liuli Society and then returned to Liuli Village. As soon as she entered the courtyard, she saw her father sitting in the courtyard, lost in thought.
Su Jin walked over and draped her coat over her father's shoulders.
"The dew is heavy as the night deepens; be careful not to catch a cold."
Su's father looked at Su Jinxia and gave a haughty snort, "Do you still care about me as your father?"
Su Jin pursed her lips, suppressing a laugh, and coaxed, "Of course there is! You are my most beloved and most respected father!"
Although he knew Su Jinxia's words didn't resonate with him, Su's father was still pleased.
Su Jinxia grasped her father's hand and said softly, "Father, there are indeed many things I haven't told you about my journey so far, not just the poisoning and falling off the cliff that you've heard about, but also many, many other dangers..."
Su's father's heart clenched immediately.
Su Jin smiled slightly, "But do you know what has kept me going until today?"
Su's father remained silent.
Su Jin smiled and said, "It's love. I don't want to be a superior person, to have immense wealth and power. What I want is for my parents to live a happy and stable life, for Liuli Village to get out of the mountains, for the children to have a bright future, and for... the person I love to live well."
“I love him. It started a long, long time ago. There may be many obstacles between us, but none of them can stop my feelings for him.”
“I didn’t expect to be with him, but things took an unexpected turn. Everything was settled and we were still able to stay true to our original intentions, so I don’t want to have any regrets.”
Mr. Su sighed softly, "Are you really sure?"
Su Jinxia curled her lips and said softly, "It has never wavered."
With tears welling in his eyes and a lump in his throat, Su's father said, "Okay, Dad believes you."
It wasn't that I trusted Shen Qianxue, but that I trusted my daughter and her choice.
Su Jinxia was also on the verge of tears. She supported her father, sniffled, and said, "Let's go back."
Father Su nodded, stood up shakily, and the father and daughter returned to the warm room. Soon, the sounds of the family's warm laughter and conversation drifted out of the window.
Su's father finally relented, and Su Jinxia quickly told Shen Qianxue the good news.
While Shen Qianxue was racking his brains to persuade Su's father, he saw Su Jin's letter and was so happy that he almost jumped up on the spot. Then he rushed to Liuli Society as fast as he could.
Upon seeing Su Jinxia, Shen Qianxue embraced her tightly.
Su Jin leaned back and hung on Shen Qianxue. This time, there were no more obstacles between them.
"Quickly, take me to see my uncle and aunt." Shen Qianxue was a little impatient.
"Wait a minute." Su Jin pulled Shen Qianxue down. "Do you want to ask the nun to come along?"
Shen Qianxue was taken aback for a moment. She neither refused nor agreed, but her expression turned serious.
Su Jin then recounted how the nun had spoken up for him, and then added a sentence.
"The main thing is that my parents already know that the nun is your mother, and my mother likes the nun very much. These past few days, she has been asking me to invite the nun to our home for a meal every day."
Shen Qianxue gently ruffled Su Jinxia's hair, understanding her good intentions.
"Then wait for me for a while."
Su Jinxia immediately beamed with joy, "Go quickly, I'm willing to wait as long as I want."
So, Shen Qianxue went to the nun's courtyard. The nun was busy tending to the herbs in the yard and did not notice him.
Shen Qianxue took two deep breaths and opened her mouth several times, but no sound came out.
Finally, it was the nun who turned around and saw him.
"Qianxue?" The nun was overjoyed and hurried over. "Why are you here? Come in quickly."
Shen Qianxue walked in and looked at the herbs filling the courtyard. She thought about how many disciples of the Liuli Society were in different situations, and how she would have to remove the Gu worms from each of them. It must be very hard work.
The nun seemed a little flustered as she asked Shen Qianxue to sit down, and then poured him some tea.
After the two resolved their differences, they found themselves unsure how to interact, wanting to be close yet also afraid to get close.
"No need," Shen Qianxue stopped the nun from pouring tea.
The nun froze on the spot, unsure of what to do or say.
Shen Qianxue is the same.
The nun rubbed her hands together, then her eyes suddenly lit up. "Oh, right, I made some sugar cakes. I'll give them to you to try. You used to crave these the most when you were little."
Shen Qianxue...
But he doesn't like sweets anymore.
The nun hurriedly went to the small kitchen, brought out a plate of sugar cakes, and put one of them into a small bowl. "Here, try it and see if it still tastes the same."
