Su Jin wandered around casually.
A short while later, a group of people walked towards us.
Su Jin instinctively felt that they were coming for her.
Sure enough, they stopped in front of Su Jin.
"Are you Miss Su?"
The woman at the head of the group spoke; she looked to be in her forties, and a group of young girls followed behind her.
"Yes, I am. Who are you?"
The woman stood tall and said neither humbly nor arrogantly, "I am the head housekeeper of the backyard. My master has honored me by calling me Aunt Lin."
"Is Aunt Lin looking for me?" Su Jin asked casually.
Aunt Lin bowed respectfully, but her words were not very polite.
"It's not that we came here specifically to look for the girl. We just saw her and came to remind her that since our master didn't tell us what the girl was supposed to do, she should be considered a guest. As a guest, she shouldn't wander around the host's house at will."
This person doesn't seem friendly; they're probably on guard against Su Jin.
Was it just Aunt Lin acting on her own initiative, or was she being instructed by someone behind the scenes?
Logically speaking, since Shen Qianxue arranged for Su Jin to be assigned to Tingyu Tower, the servants should have been too busy praising her to even consider targeting her without understanding the situation.
Seeing that Su Jin remained silent, Aunt Lin asked calmly, "Would you like to continue walking, Miss? I'll have a servant accompany you, or perhaps escort you back?"
Su Jin shook her head.
"No, I think I can act on my own, but you probably don't believe me. Why don't we go find the young master and make things clear to avoid any misunderstandings later?"
Aunt Lin's face turned cold. This kind of behavior of constantly complaining and arguing with the master was not pleasing.
"Please come in, young lady. I'm just about to serve tea myself." Aunt Lin followed the rules and wasn't afraid of Su Jin complaining.
The group soon arrived at Shen Qianxue's study.
Aunt Lin explained her purpose and received a reply. Then, she led one of the maids in to serve tea.
Su Jin peeked in to check the situation, but before she could see Shen Qianxue, her gaze was drawn to another person who was radiating light.
In the guest seat, a slender man sat there. His skin was as white as snow, his eyebrows and eyes were exquisite, and his black hair was as smooth as a waterfall. His white robes and wide sleeves made him look like a god who had just descended from the sky.
Su Jin had never seen such a handsome man in her two lifetimes.
What are you doing here?
Shen Qianxue raised an eyebrow and looked at Su Jin's fluffy head, her tone softening unconsciously.
Su Jin straightened up and walked in, smiling sheepishly, "It's just a small matter, no rush, you go ahead and do your thing."
As she spoke, she secretly glanced at the man in white.
He's so handsome! He's flawless!
In my past life, I'd never seen such a handsome man by Shen Qianxue's side...
"What is it?" Shen Qianxue's voice turned slightly cold.
Su Jin snapped out of her daze, "Ah... that..."
What am I here for?
Su Jin glanced at Aunt Lin before remembering, "Oh, I just came to ask you if there's anything I should do?"
Following Su Jin's gaze, Shen Qianxue looked at Aunt Lin strangely. What happened?
Shen Qianxue countered Su Jin's question: "Why do you think that way?"
Su Jinxia expressed herself tactfully, "I can't just eat and stay here for free, can I? I have to do something, otherwise people will think I'm a guest you invited, and it would be too embarrassing to freeload."
other people?
Shen Qianxue was very clever and understood immediately.
So, they were bullied and came to complain. They really don't want to suffer any loss.
However, Su Jin does need an identity to stay in Phoenix Pavilion.
But what kind of identity does she want?
Shen Qianxue was a little curious and asked, "What do you want to do?"
Su Jin smiled. Had she already thought it through when she came?
"I want to become a guard."
"Why?" This answer surprised Shen Qianxue.
Su Jin took a deep breath; there were too many reasons.
By becoming a guard, Su Jinxia can learn martial arts, and with the power of the Glazed Gu Mother, her strength will greatly increase.
Furthermore, becoming a guard allows for free movement and even the ability to quickly uncover the secrets of Phoenix Pavilion and locate the treasures.
But neither of these points can be mentioned.
Su Jin thought for a moment, a smile appearing in her eyes, "Because... I want to be like them, to protect this place, to protect you."
This wasn't an excuse Su Jin made up; it was genuine.
Shen Qianxue was stunned for a moment, and a blush rose to the tips of her ears.
He was used to Su Jinxia's bold words, but today was different; a whole room of people were watching.
She coughed awkwardly twice and firmly refused, "I don't need your protection. Being a guard isn't something anyone can just do!"
Su Jin had anticipated that Shen Qianxue would refuse, but how could she give up so easily?
Su Jin said seriously, "Even if you don't need my protection, I still need to protect myself."
"Do you feel unsafe here?" Shen Qianxue frowned slightly. He had promised Su Jin that he would protect her for life.
Does she not trust herself?
Su Jin shook her head gently, "That's not what I meant. I know you'll protect me, but I can't stay here forever, and I can't keep you tied to my waistband."
The people in the room were utterly shocked. Was this something we should be hearing?
The burning sensation on Shen Qianxue's ear tips spread rapidly throughout her body like wildfire, turning her skin an unusual red.
Su Jinxia was completely unaware of how bold and seductive her words were, and continued earnestly, "I want to be able to protect myself, and I also hope to protect the people I love and the people who love me. You may think I'm just talking big, but that's okay. Just let me try. I can learn from scratch!"
