Crystalline tears slid down her cheeks.
Shen Qianxue tasted bitterness.
He released Su Jinxia in a daze, wondering what was wrong with her.
There were too many points of conflict between them, and Su Jinxia had too many secrets, so Shen Qianxue couldn't tell what Su Jinxia was crying about for a moment.
Su Jin wrapped her arms around Shen Qianxue's waist and buried her head in Shen Qianxue's chest.
Her slender back revealed a deep sense of unease and sorrow.
Shen Qianxue understood a little and gently stroked her hair, "Is it my fault for not coming back to see you sooner?"
Su Jin didn't answer, but simply pulled him closer.
Shen Qianxue knew then, yes!
When he left, fearing that Su Jinxia would continue to act up and refuse to go back obediently, he used the Xia family's matter as an excuse to vent his anger, and left without even turning back to look at her.
Unexpectedly, she was seriously injured again, and I had no idea what had happened, nor had I ever shown her any concern.
If this happened to Shen Qianxue herself, she would probably doubt whether Su Jinxia truly liked her.
Similarly, how could Su Jinxia not be heartbroken and bewildered?
Lu Ming said that she would hide under the covers and cry alone at night.
How much pain, sorrow, and fear must she have felt to be so strong and optimistic?
Shen Qianxue felt as if her heart had been ripped out.
Moreover, Shen Qianxue couldn't explain that he didn't know the details; that would only make him seem incompetent.
Does Phoenix Pavilion now allow everyone to make decisions?
In the name of doing what's best for him, they acted on their own initiative!
"It's all my fault, don't cry, okay?" Shen Qianxue comforted her softly, her words of affection enveloping Su Jin like a gentle spring.
Su Jinxia really stopped crying, wiped away her tears, and became extremely well-behaved.
However, Shen Qianxue keenly noticed that she was different.
In the past, at times like this, she would definitely push her luck, complain a few times, and make him coax her nicely so she could get some good food or fun things.
Shen Qianxue swallowed the bitterness in her heart, her fingers curling slightly before relaxing, unsure of what to say for a moment.
It seems that in the past, she was the one who chattered on and on, while I only had to occasionally chime in with a word or two.
Shen Qianxue dared not ask Su Jinxia why she was being hunted down, as that would undoubtedly strain their relationship even further.
Just then, Maizizi arrived.
"Brother Qianxue, you're finally back?" Mai Zizi rushed over excitedly, but then her face fell. "Why did it take you so long to get back!"
Shen Qianxue was pleased to see that Mai Zizi was still lively and bright, and that she had become more composed and at ease.
She's finally grown up!
But thinking about it, Shen Qianxue didn't do anything, and she should thank Su Jin for this.
"I was busy with things outside and came back a little late. I've been thinking about you all the whole time," Shen Qianxue said softly, her large hand holding Su Jinxia's small hand.
Mai Zizi chattered on and on about many recent events, mostly revolving around Su Jin, unlike before when she focused on Shen Qianxue.
As she spoke, Su Jin realized it was time to change her dressing.
Because the injury was on her back, Su Jin needed help, and Mai Zizi was the one who helped Su Jin change clothes when she was around.
Perhaps it was because the injury on Su Jin's lower back was so frightening that Mai Zizi couldn't help but shed tears every time she applied the medicine.
She is the eldest daughter of Phoenix Pavilion, but she is very dedicated to taking care of Su Jinxia.
Mai Zizi led Su Jin upstairs, and Shen Qianxue secretly peeked at the top of the stairs.
The scar was shocking.
Even though the wound had healed, Shen Qianxue could still imagine how fatal it had been.
When Shen Xi and the others learned that Su Jinxia was being hunted down, they wondered: Who exactly is Su Jinxia? Why is she being hunted down? What is her relationship with the Liuli Society?
Shen Qianxue was thinking that she was really facing a predicament, perhaps even a life-or-death situation!
She must have come to Phoenix Pavilion with a purpose, and that purpose could help her get out of her predicament.
So what exactly does she want?
Shen Qianxue believed that his relationship with Su Jinxia was already quite deep, but Su Jinxia was still unwilling to speak frankly, which meant that this thing was not simple and might have a fatal impact on Phoenix Pavilion.
Thinking about this, it's impossible for Shen Qianxue not to feel conflicted.
After having dinner with Su Jinxia, watching her take her medicine, and seeing her go to bed to rest, Shen Qianxue left Tingyu Tower.
Shen Xi and Yang Jiaoruo were already waiting for Shen Qianxue in the study.
Shen Qianxue coldly swept her gaze over Shen Xi and entered the room.
Shen Xi felt a chill run down his spine and knelt down as soon as he entered the room.
"Please punish me, my lord!"
Shen Qianxue sat down in the main seat, her aura instantly turning sharp. "Tell me, why were you punished?"
Shen Xi clenched his fists, feeling somewhat uneasy. Shen Qianxue rarely got angry, but if he did, the consequences would be terrible.
Shen Xi forced a smile and said, "We concealed the fact that Su Jin was seriously injured."
"Anything else?"
"They investigated Su Jinxia's identity without authorization and sent people to monitor her."
"Anything else?"
Shen Xi's face is still stiff, is it?
Shen Qianxue's brows furrowed, anger burning in his eyes. He stood up abruptly, his tone icy.
"When Su Jinxia and Mai Zizi fell off the cliff, how did you rescue them? You knew Su Jinxia had a back injury, and you knew Su Jinxia said she would go to rescue Mai Zizi, but after you took Mai Zizi away, you didn't even consider whether Su Jinxia would go to rescue her again. How are you going to clean up the mess?"
"She had more than a dozen stitches in her back, all of which tore open, causing secondary trauma. As a martial artist, you know what this level of injury means to her!"
“Even at this point, even though Lu Ming’s letter was practically killing her off, you still dared to suppress the news and not inform me.”
"You have some nerve!"
The teacup shattered in front of Shen Xi, and shards slid across his cheek, leaving a trail of blood.
