Chapter 89 Marriage 3
Zhang Shiye stood up the moment his second sister-in-law walked out. Xia Wanyang was startled, "You're not drunk, are you?"
Zhang Shiye smiled and said, "How could I drink too much on such an important day? My elder and second brothers changed the water for me and only mixed it with a little bit of wine. If you don't believe me, try it."
After saying that, he held the little girl in his arms. Xia Wanyang actually leaned over to smell her. Zhang Shiye kissed her on the face, "Why do you smell like a puppy!"
Xia Wanyang pinched his face and said, "You are the dog!"
Zhang Shiye's eyes traced Xia Wanyang's pretty little face, and he sighed, "I finally married you home." After that, he lowered his head and kissed the red lips that he had been thinking about all morning. He didn't know what the little girl had put on her lips, but they were shiny and soft, and looked very kissable.
Every time Zhang Shiye kissed her, she would become unconsciously confused and intoxicated. This feeling of making her brain go blank yet intoxicated was really addictive.
He touched her face while gently seducing her with the tip of his tongue. As their lips and teeth intertwined, the two of them couldn't help but feel a throbbing sensation in their hearts. Zhang Shiye released her with a heavy breath and kissed her cheek fiercely again, "Baby, wait until tonight. People haven't left yet. If you kiss me any more, I'll feel suffocated."
Xia Wanyang's eyes were slightly red, and she was breathing heavily, "Then...then you should go out first..."
Zhang Shiye shook his head. "No, sit down first and I'll clean up."
Zhang Shiye could only keep finding things to do to distract himself. He always felt that his willpower was pretty good before, but now why couldn't he control himself when it came to the little girl?
After a while, Zhang Shijing knocked on the door and said, "Fourth brother, the guests are almost done eating. Mother asked me to call you to have the reunion dinner!"
Zhang Shiye put shoes on the little girl and reached out to hug her, but Xia Wanyang dodged and said, "I can walk by myself. What does it look like if you carry me like this?"
Zhang Shiye tapped her forehead and said, "You little heartless girl, I can't even hug you!"
Zhang Shijing knocked on the door for a long time but no one came to open it. He thought the two were tired and had gone to rest. Just as he was about to leave, the door was opened. "Third brother, didn't my parents say anything when I came back?"
Zhang Shijing smiled innocently, "They also said that you hid well, otherwise I would have forced you under the table today!"
The three of them walked towards Zhang's house. When they arrived, the four old people were standing at the door. Mother Xia stepped forward to greet them and said, "Come in and have dinner. After dinner, your dad, the eldest and second sons and I have to go back. Your dad has too many things to do in the army."
Xia Wanyang frowned, "Are you leaving now? Aren't you going to play for a few more days?"
Several people walked to the dining table. There were ten dishes on the table, almost all of which were meat dishes, and the worst one had eggs.
Before eating, they had to formally change their words. Zhang Shiye had already called them mom and dad when he picked up the bride in the morning. Xia Wanyang was still a little uncomfortable when she called them, but she still called out softly under everyone's gaze: "Dad, Mom."
After he finished shouting, he felt embarrassed. Zhang Shiye looked at the shy little girl and thought she was so cute. He wanted to carry her back to the kang and love her well.
After changing the tone and giving out red envelopes, the wedding was officially completed. Weddings in the 1970s did not involve any formalities, nor did they require swearing in front of everyone like in the city. Xia Wanyang was thin-skinned, so she skipped these steps and enjoyed her leisure time.
At the dinner table, while serving food to Xia Wanyang, Father Xia said, "Yangyang, after you get married, you are someone else's wife. You can no longer be as willful as you are at home. You have to learn to do housework and learn to love your husband like a wife should. Do you understand?"
Xia Wanyang nodded. Just as Zhang Shiye was about to speak, Xia Wanyang gave him a look that said "shut up". No matter how the two of them get along in the future, they should promise their parents now so that they will feel at ease.
After dinner, Director Fan drove to the Dongfanghong Brigade and handed Xia Wanyang a red envelope. "Niece, Uncle Fan was delayed this morning by something and didn't come to drink your wedding wine. This red envelope is a token of my love. Please accept it."
Zhang Heping wanted to invite them in for dinner, but Director Fan refused to go in. "Old Xia and his friends have to catch a train this afternoon. I have to rush to get them to the train station. We won't have dinner today. I will definitely stay for dinner when I come to visit my niece some other day."
Zhang Shiye and Xia Wanyang were going to get their marriage certificate and take photos in the afternoon, so they followed the car. When they came, the Xia family brought Xia Wanyang large and small dowries. When they left, Zhang Heping and Aunt Qiao brought them large and small packages of agricultural products, including black fungus, dried wild mushrooms, wild walnut kernels, honey, some home-pickled sauerkraut and homemade soybean paste, cured chicken, fish, and meat, as well as two cured ducks and wild rabbits that Qiao Shuyun had specially exchanged for from other brigades.
"Mother-in-law, you are too polite!"
Qiao Shuyun was moving things into the car, saying nonchalantly, "They are all homemade and picked from the mountains. They are not expensive. I hope my mother-in-law doesn't mind. If you like them, I'll have my daughter-in-law mail them to you!"
Zhang Shiye felt so comfortable being called "old daughter-in-law" that he grinned foolishly.
Zhang Heping secretly glanced at him and complained in his heart, "Is this my son? Look at how worthless he looks..."
The Zhang family drove the car directly to the entrance of the village, and only walked back when the rear of the car was out of sight. Zhang Shijing stammered, "Well, Mom, I... I see there are a lot of leftover vegetables at home. Can you send some over to the educated youth and friends who helped today?"
Aunt Qiao teased, "Why don't you just say you want to send it to He Hua? Why are you taking such a detour? I've already reserved it for you, so just go and send it!"
Zhang Shijing laughed and said, "Okay, I'll go."
Zhang Shifeng coughed beside him, "Well, I'll go with you!"
Zhang Heping rolled his eyes. Are these idiots really his biological sons? Why do they all look so stupid?
When they arrived at the station, Xia Wanyang held onto her mother's arm, unwilling to let go. "Mom, I can't bear to leave you."
Mother Xia touched Xia Wanyang's head and said, "Silly girl, live a good life in your husband's family after you get married. If you miss me, write to me more often. If you have a day off, come back to see me and your father."
Father Xia was a little picky, "You just miss mom, not me?"
Xia Wanyang said: "Of course I do. My eldest brother and his wife, my second brother and his wife, and my unborn nephew also do!"
Liu Yue smiled evilly and said, "That's easy. Come back with us in the car!"
Zhang Shiye quickly stepped forward and pulled Xia Wanyang over to half-protect her in his arms, "Second sister-in-law, Yangyang is not going back!"
This sentence made the atmosphere of separation less sad. Zhang Shiye and the two brothers of the Xia family carried several bags each. Xia Wanyang carried Xia's mother and Liu Yue on her shoulders and sent them to the train berth. "Mom, I'm going to take a photo with Zhang Shiye in a while. I'll mail one to you then!"
Father Xia nodded quickly, "Okay, next time you two come back to Shanghai, let's take a family photo together!"
The train started moving, Xia Wanyang ran a few steps after the train, Zhang Shiye followed her, "Yangyang, stop chasing me, if you miss home I'll take you back to see it, okay?"
Xia Wanyang stopped and waited until the train drove away before leaving the station with Zhang Shiye.
The two of them came to the Civil Affairs Bureau with all the formalities completed. There weren't many people there in the afternoon, and soon someone came out holding a big award certificate. Zhang Shiye wanted to stare a hole in the paper. He was so happy. It was the first time in his twenty years of life that he was so happy. His little girl finally belonged to him completely, and it was a certificate issued by the state and recognized by the law!
"Come on, I'll take you to take pictures."
The two went to the photo studio again. Photo studios in those days were not very prosperous. After all, not everyone could afford to take a photo at one dollar a piece.
The master saw the two people enter the room and said cheerfully, "Are you a newly married couple?"
Xia Wanyang raised her head and smiled, and the master's nice words came out immediately: "Oh, I've been taking photos for decades, and this is the first time I've met a girl as pretty as you. You two are really a perfect match!"
Zhang Shiye was very happy to be praised, "Then let's do it!"
It didn't matter if it was just one shot, the master couldn't stop at all, and the two of them didn't need any instructions, they posed naturally, without any shyness, and looked at each other openly, their eyes were so charming.
The master took thirty or forty photos in one breath. Finally, Xia Wanyang was a little tired and asked him to stop. The master had a flattering face and was about to speak when he was stopped by Zhang Shiye, "No matter how many photos you take, I will pay, but I don't agree to put my lover's photos here. If I find out that you put them here secretly, I will smash your photo studio!"
The master put away his smile and said, "Okay, there are 34 in total, just give me 30 yuan."
After paying the money and setting a time to pick up the photos, I returned to the Dongfanghong Brigade.
