Chapter 111 Go Find Him

I'm not even willing to try.

Fu Yanshen looked down on me so much, it would be humiliating for me to go to him for help.

I can already picture how he would humiliate me.

He would say, "Sheng Qiaoqiao, who do you think you are? What right do you have to ask me for favors?"

In his eyes, I didn't even have the right to ask him for help, let alone ask him to give up his revenge against Shengshi.

I told my mother the truth about my idea.

Seeing how haggard she looked, and thinking about the situation she and her father were facing, I felt anxious for them, but there was nothing I could do.

I sold off all my personal property that I could to help them, including my old collection of luxury bags, watches, and jewelry.

I, a fake heiress, have no need for, nor am I worthy of, those luxury goods.

"That's true. It must have been difficult for you to go and beg Fu Yanshen." My mother put some more food on my plate. "You're the eldest daughter of our Sheng family, whom we've raised for over twenty years."

"We spoil you and pamper you, we're afraid you'll melt in our mouths, you've never suffered a bit of hardship, how can you lower yourself to beg for help?"

My mother smiled bitterly and stopped pressuring me.

But listening to her words, I felt incredibly guilty.

She and Dad are so good to me. They know I'm not their biological child, but they still acknowledge me. What good would it do if I went to Fu Yanshen to plead for them?

He just humiliated me.

It's not like I haven't been humiliated by him before.

"Mom, I'll go try to find him, but don't get your hopes up. Let's think of other ways..."

I would feel really guilty if I didn't agree to my mom's request.

Upon hearing this, my mother burst into tears again, repeatedly saying that I had been wronged.

They raised me like their own daughter for over 20 years, so what is this little bit of grievance compared to that? I'm just angry at myself for being powerless to help them.

...

I went to the front desk of Mingde Group for the third time to arrange a meeting with Fu Yanshen, but was once again turned away.

The reply I received was the same as the previous two times: Fu Yanshen was very busy and had no time to see someone like me.

I told my mother I was backing out, but he refused to see me. My mother then told me to go to our old house and confront him.

She said that with the year-end approaching, major companies are busy with year-end reviews, and Fu Yanshen should be in Beijing and not on a business trip.

As evening falls, the detached villa with yellow walls and red tiles, in a European style, is bathed in the afterglow of the setting sun.

In the flower bed in the yard, the Osaka pine tree that I carefully selected and brought from overseas is still lush and green, contrasting beautifully against the white wall.

Winters in Beijing are cold, and many plants wither and die during vernalization, making the yard look lifeless. Back then, I spent a lot of time learning about gardening to decorate this home.

The cold wind was biting. I stood in front of the black iron gate, looking at the home I once cherished. My heart felt like a jumble of spices had been overturned, a mix of all sorts of emotions.

Ultimately, it turned into a self-deprecating laugh.

I took a deep breath and rang the doorbell.

It took a while for a middle-aged man to come and open the door; he was probably the butler Fu Yanshen had hired.

"President Fu hasn't lived here for a long time. Go look for him somewhere else!" The middle-aged man waved his hand, dismissing me.

After the divorce, he should have moved out and lived with Shi Jin.

I secretly breathed a sigh of relief when I didn't find anyone.

But my mother still wouldn't give up. She found out that Fu Yanshen would be attending the group's annual meeting on Friday night, at the banquet hall of the five-star Wangfu Hotel.

I'm not sure if Fu Yanshen will attend the company's annual meeting; I'll have to go there in person to find out.

At 7 p.m., the small square in front of the hotel was filled with luxury cars.

Upon arriving at the hotel lobby, I followed the directions on the roll-up banner to the entrance of the banquet hall.

Business people attending the annual meeting are already signing in.

"Miss, please show your invitation. You need to sign in to enter." A handsome man in a suit and tie, wearing a walkie-talkie, reached out to block my view as I peered into the venue.

"I'm not here for the annual meeting. I'd like to ask if Fu Yanshen is confirmed to attend this event tonight?" I asked politely.

"Miss, I'm sorry, I have no comment. This is the Mingde Group's year-end banquet. Unrelated personnel are requested to leave." A man who looked like a bodyguard came over and tried to get rid of me.

"Oh, isn't this Miss Sheng!"

A sarcastic female voice rang out. I knew without looking that it must be one of those little princesses from the Beijing elite circle, coming to kick me when I was down.

"Hey Miss Qin, are you using 2G internet? She's not Miss Sheng anymore, she's a fake heiress who was switched at birth, an imposter!"

Another female voice came from behind.

They sang in unison, as if afraid that passersby wouldn't know my background and would take the opportunity to ridicule me.

However, I've long since become numb to it.

I looked at them.

The person who led the mockery of me was Qin Lulu, the one who had her head shaved in the middle of the night for mocking me.

She wore a black strapless gown with a blazer draped over her shoulders, long, straight black hair (likely a wig), a full set of diamond jewelry, and carried a limited-edition CHANEL handbag.

There was a girl next to me wearing jewels; I can't remember which family she belonged to.

In the past, they were the ones who would try to get close to me, but I didn't like to hang out with them.

Qin Lulu looked me up and down, her gaze finally settling on my only remaining LV monogram chain bag.

"It's so shabby."

She said disdainfully.

"Qin Lulu, your hair has grown out, hasn't it?"

Ji Yan's voice rang out, and he appeared behind Qin Lulu without her noticing, grabbing her wig.

"ah!"

Qin Lulu was stunned for a moment, then covered her extremely short hair and screamed.
