"Qiaoqiao, I'll take you there. Where do you live now?"
He said in a gentle and refined manner.
I smiled and looked at him with a smile in my eyes. "Brother Sinan, thank you. But I drove here and didn't drink a drop, so I won't trouble you. You should go home and get some rest."
"Then... drive slowly on the road and be careful," he gently reminded me.
He maintained his gentlemanly demeanor as always and never pressured me.
I nodded, waved goodbye, and watched his car drive away.
People were coming and going at the entrance of the bar, but Fu Yanshen was nowhere to be seen.
I called Lin Xiao and told him that Fu Yanshen was drunk and asked him to send someone to pick him up.
"Huh? I'm in Africa, the signal is terrible here, what did you say—" Lin Xiao's words were cut off before the call was finished.
Is he in Africa?
When did they run off? How come I didn't know?
Besides, what would he be doing in a place like that?
I suspect he's lying to me.
When they tried to call back, Lin Xiao's phone was already switched off.
The long table in the bar was empty; Fu Yanshen was nowhere to be seen.
"Manager, there's a gentleman in the restroom. His cheeks are flushed, and he seems to be in a lot of pain, like he's having an alcohol allergy!" A waiter approached the bar and said hurriedly.
I frowned and strode towards the restroom.
The bar's passageway features a minimalist black and white design. A man dressed in black leans against a white wall, his back bent, and from a distance, he appears weak and powerless.
I walked quickly toward him. His back heaved dramatically with each breath, and his cheeks were flushed, the redness spreading down to his neck and ears.
"Fu Yanshen, are you feeling unwell? Should we go to the hospital?" I asked him anxiously, my brow furrowed.
The man slowly turned his head, a hint of surprise flashing in his eyes. "Didn't you abandon me and run off with that guy surnamed Song?"
He asked, drunkenly, in a resentful tone.
I:"……"
The bar manager brought over two bottles of mineral water, which Fu Yanshen took and drank in large gulps.
He should probably go to the hospital, right?
I wasn't sure, so I called Xu Xun.
Xu Xun called directly via video for a face-to-face consultation.
“You’re breathing easily now, you won’t die,” Fu Yanshen replied impatiently to Xu Xun.
“Ms. Sheng, his breathing difficulties are due to an alcohol allergy and laryngeal edema, which could lead to suffocation if severe. His symptoms have eased now, so he doesn’t need to come to the hospital. He should rest in bed and drink plenty of water, preferably electrolyte water… I will send you the specific care instructions to your phone.”
"OK."
After ending the video call, I glared at the man whose cheeks were still flushed. "You can't drink, yet you still drink."
I remember before, he drank three small cups of baijiu (Chinese liquor), and he looked very serious and in great pain.
"Who told you to stand me up...!" Fu Yanshen raised his head, glaring at me resentfully, his tone complaining.
"I—" He hesitated, unable to finish his sentence.
It seems there's no need to explain to him.
"Call your driver to come and pick you up," I said, then turned and left.
I had only taken two steps when Fu Yanshen wrapped his arms around my waist from behind. His heavy weight leaned against me, and I almost fell face down.
"I watched them cook all afternoon, preparing for ages, and you...you came to welcome that guy surnamed Song...and..." The man slurred drunkenly, leaning against my back.
"Fu Yanshen, let go of me first."
I struggled, but he didn't move an inch. His entire weight was pressing down on me. I called out to him many times, but he didn't respond. It was as if he was asleep.
With the help of the bartenders, I finally managed to get Fu Yanshen into the car.
The drunk man was sluggish and heavy. When we arrived at the apartment building, he was still half-drunk and half-awake. I helped him with difficulty into the elevator. When we got to the bedroom, he was covered in sweat and panting heavily.
"Lie down quickly, I'll go get you some water."
As soon as I finished speaking, Fu Yanshen pulled me down to lie down with him.
The man rolled over, his arms and long legs wrapped around me, pressing down on my body so I couldn't move, and buried his face in the side of my neck.
The strong smell of alcohol made me frown and crane my neck to avoid it.
"When I speak the truth, you are unmoved; but when he speaks, you look at him with tender affection..."
Honestly.
Does he mean that he also fell in love with me at first sight?
A man's words are deceitful.
I pulled his arm away.
Just as I loosened my grip a little, he tightened his arms around my waist like soft iron.
"He knew you so many years before I did... You had a crush on him, and he had a crush on you..."
His tone was full of bitterness.
This was the first time I'd ever heard this person say so many things to me that sounded so bitter, and in such a sarcastic and humble tone.
Instead of mockery or humiliation.
"You still treat me as his substitute...!" Fu Yanshen's tone grew increasingly sour, and his arms tightened around him.
As soon as the words left his lips, he kissed my neck deeply, as if holding me still wasn't enough, and then rolled over and pinned me down...
