"I'm not hungry."
I glanced at him, said indifferently, and turned to look at Song Sinan beside me.
"Brother Sinan, thank you so much for checking the surveillance footage for me tonight." I expressed my sincere gratitude to him.
A smile appeared on Song Sinan's handsome face. "It was nothing."
He spoke of it casually, but I understood that in that situation, the fact that he was willing to stand up for me meant...
Go against Ouyang.
The other guests were too busy flattering him to even notice.
Even the uncles and elders I've called for twenty years are eager to distance themselves from me...
I swallowed the bitterness and forced a smile. "Brother Sinan, I'll treat you to dinner another day."
"You said it yourself, you can't go back on your word."
Song Sinan smiled, his gaze towards me subtly revealing...doting. As he spoke, the corners of his lips turned up sharply, revealing a set of white teeth.
This was quite different from his usual serious and unsmiling demeanor.
I vaguely noticed that many pairs of eyes were looking in this direction, as well as at the person beside me, with an undeniable, sticky gaze.
But I didn't even glance at him, and said to Song Sinan with a smile, "It's a deal."
Over there, Uncle Song was gesturing to him, and he told me he was going over to attend to social matters.
“The Ouyang couple did indeed do me a favor. I treated them to hospitality during their visit to Beijing, and it had nothing to do with Shi Jin.”
As soon as Song Sinan left, Fu Yanshen leaned down and whispered in my ear, as if explaining.
As he spoke, a group of socialites were watching us, whispering among themselves.
"Mr. Fu, what you're saying doesn't seem to have anything to do with me, does it?" I asked him calmly, meeting his gradually dimming gaze. "I'm going to find Chen Hanxing."
After saying that, I turned and walked away.
"Sheng Qiaoqiao seems to be quite cold towards President Fu..."
"With President Fu protecting her so much, isn't she touched?"
"I heard that the person she loves is Young Master Song, and Young Master Song has also publicly stated that Sheng Qiaoqiao is the one he loves."
"Sheng Qiaoqiao really has some tricks up her sleeve. She's a fake heiress who's also divorced, yet she can still get two eligible bachelors to do it all for her..."
The whispers of the socialites gradually faded behind me as I left the banquet hall and entered the lounge that had been temporarily converted from a private room in the hotel.
Shen Hanxing had just finished her performance and came to greet me.
"Sister Qiao, are you alright?" the young girl asked me with concern.
Her beautiful almond-shaped eyes were filled with concern.
"Hmph, what a little trouble..." I smiled nonchalantly.
"Thank goodness it turned out differently, otherwise I would have been disgusted to death!" Shen Hanxing said indignantly. "I never thought there were such extreme cases in real life!"
"Alright, anger makes you ugly." I comforted her. "You can go back now, let's leave."
I called a bodyguard, who covered Shen Hanxing up completely, and she quietly got into the van through the back door of the hotel.
After seeing her off, I drove aimlessly around and unknowingly arrived at Houhai.
Hmm, I want to drink.
I followed my heart and went into a bar, bought a bottle of whiskey and a glass, and walked along the Houhai Lake, enjoying the warm night breeze.
I finally found an empty bench, sat down, and drank alone while listening to the wandering musicians playing instruments and singing.
After downing half a bottle of whiskey, I felt much more relaxed, as if every cell in my body was ethereal.
My mind was blank, free from any distracting thoughts.
After downing the drink again, I reached for the bottle, only to find it empty.
"Don't drink anymore."
A deep, warm male voice came from above my head, and I looked up.
The man's long, slender, pale fingers held a brown wine bottle. The streetlight illuminated his handsome face, revealing thick eyebrows and deep-set eyes, his dark pupils fixed on me.
I rolled my eyes at him and said angrily, "Fu Yanshen, give me back my wine!"
As soon as I finished speaking, I let out a burp, my breath reeking of alcohol.
He sat down in the empty seat next to me, and I reached out to grab the bottle, but his hand was raised high, and I couldn't reach it at all.
"Give it back to me! Or I'll call the police!" I threatened him angrily, my eyes wide.
Fu Yanshen was not afraid at all; instead, he smiled and picked up his wine glass. "I'll pour it for you."
It was less than a sixth of a cup, not nearly enough for me to drink.
After I finished my drink, I asked him to pour me more. He turned the bottle upside down and said, "Not a drop is left. You drank it all."
The man's dark eyes glanced at me, filled with tiny, fragmented lights.
You finished it so quickly?
I was annoyed, my brow furrowed.
"Are you in a bad mood?" The man's seemingly concerned voice drew my attention.
"Who's in a bad mood?" I retorted irritably. "With a scene like this today, so many acquaintances... being gossiped about behind my back as a fake heiress... I'm immune to that now... I don't care!"
As I spoke, I stood up, my voice loud, as if making a vow.
"I don't care... I want to drink! Xiao Fu, you go and buy me some alcohol!" I commanded, pointing at the handsome man in a suit on the bench.
He didn't move an inch, his eyes fixed on me.
"You're just standing there—" I interrupted her just in time, "You're not Xiao Fu anymore, you're not my bodyguard anymore... You're the high and mighty President Fu, the real young master whose identity I've taken over..."
"How could I possibly order you around?"
I blurted it all out, then turned and left, saying, "I'll go buy the wine myself..."
My feet felt light on my feet, and I walked forward happily.
As I was walking, someone grabbed my arm and I was thrown into a hard chest. My body was held tightly, and I was enveloped by a familiar masculine scent.
Fu Yanshen tightened his arms around me, holding me even closer, his chin resting on the top of my head, as if he were deeply inhaling my breath. After a while, he loosened his grip slightly, his warm palms gently patting my back through the chiffon fabric.
