She appeared very imposing in front of Shi Jin.
Zhou Di walked over to me and greeted me.
I walked with her to Ouyang's ward.
"Mom, do you remember how you fell? It's all my fault for not taking good care of you. Dad will be furious with me!"
In the ward, Shi Jin knelt in front of the bed, looked at Ouyang sitting on the bed, and asked while crying.
Ouyang was still on an IV drip, his forehead was wrapped in bandages, his face was pale, and his leg was broken and hanging in a sling.
She lowered her head, her hand supporting her forehead, as if she were thinking carefully.
I went inside.
"I can't remember how I fell, I only remember grabbing onto a rock..." Madam Ouyang looked at Shi Jin, her tone calm.
She couldn't even remember how she fell.
I frowned.
Shi Jin's crying stopped abruptly. "You really don't remember?"
"Jin'er, do you know? I remember you should have been nearby at the time," Madam Ouyang asked her in return.
Shi Jin stood up, wiping away her tears. "Mom, I met Qiaoqiao coming up the mountain when I was going down. Not long after, I heard your voice calling... Qiaoqiao, was that you—"
Before she could finish her witty remarks, I strode toward her, and Shi Jin shrank back in fright.
I raised my left hand and slapped her hard across her seemingly gentle and harmless face!
The crisp "pia" sound was very satisfying.
"Qiaoqiao, you hit me... Are you feeling guilty? Why are you so agitated?!" Shi Jin covered her face, looked at me, and seemed very aggrieved, but the words she uttered made me want to hit her again.
My right hand was in a sling, so I simply raised my foot and kicked her hard!
She retorted, "Shi Jin, you really know how to twist the truth! I clearly heard the screams when I was going up the mountain, and you just came down. When I asked you what the sound was, you said you didn't hear it!"
"Qiaoqiao, you treated me like this in front of my mother, you..." Shi Jin finished crying and looked at Ouyang with a wronged expression.
She wanted her to make the decision for her.
However, even if Madam Ouyang blames me, I don't care.
At this point, Jin felt utterly disgusted.
“Jin’er, although I don’t remember how I fell off the cliff, I clearly remember that it was Qiao Qiao who pulled me up when I was about to give up.”
"She saved me."
"You doubted her without any evidence, so it's only right that she hit you a couple of times."
Upon hearing Madam Ouyang's words, Shi Jin stared at her dumbfounded. I was also taken aback for a moment, but then, a smile of satisfaction appeared on my lips.
Fortunately, she didn't forget that I was the one who saved her, otherwise things would have been very complicated.
I love how sensible she is!
"Mom... I don't doubt her... I just—"
Ouyang waved his hand, interrupting her, "Your face is swollen and you look terrible. Go and tidy yourself up and calm down."
She chased Shi Jin away.
In the ward, only Ouyang, Zhou Di, and I remained.
Lying on the hospital bed, her beautiful phoenix eyes stared intently at me, her eyes gradually reddening.
He seemed very moved.
I approached her.
She reached out and took my hand, her gaze falling on my injured arm. "Qiaoqiao, thank you for risking your life to save me..."
She looked up, her eyes glistening with tears, staring intently at my face.
Her warm, soft palm enveloped my hand; it felt so comforting.
"Alice, don't be like this. You were in so much danger. I think anyone who passed by would have rushed to save you." I still feel lingering fear when I recall that scene.
She pressed her head against my chest and shook it. "Not necessarily... Some ungrateful people would rather I fall to my death... Only truly kind people or those who genuinely love me would save me."
She sighed and said something that puzzled me. What did she mean by "ungrateful wretch"?
"Qiaoqiao, you are my benefactor. From now on, I'm going to stick with you as a friend!" She raised her face, her eyes smiling, and said half-jokingly.
She was no longer the sad person she had been just moments before.
She turned to her assistant, "Zhou Di, inject 50 million into Qiao Qiao's company first. I heard you want to invest in film and television. You can invest this money however you like. Give me a 10% return. Even if you lose money, I won't ask you to pay it back."
Zhou Di: "Yes."
I was a little dumbfounded; she really was rich and powerful. "Alice, I can't—"
"Qiaoqiao, you don't need to be so polite with me. Gratitude is my consistent principle in life! It's also the way of heaven!" Ouyang patted the back of my hand, comforting me as I refused.
I know that the more virtuous a wealthy person is, the more they care about repaying their benefactors.
"Then I... will do my best to help you break even and make a profit!" I said confidently, a thought flashing through my mind.
After watching Zhou Di leave, I looked around.
"Qiaoqiao, there's no one here. If you have anything to say, you can just say it to me directly." Ouyang is a smart person; he saw through my behavior at a glance.
I no longer hesitated. "Madam Ouyang, I want to remind you to be careful of Shi Jin, and also your...sir."
I didn't have much of a relationship with her before, so I didn't say anything. But now, I'm really worried that Shi Jin will harm her again.
A fleeting sadness crossed her eyes.
"Qiaoqiao, I know what I'm doing. Thank you," she said softly, lowering her head.
I understand; she believes me. Or perhaps she had already suspected their affair?
After advising her to get some rest, I left the ward.
After the painkiller wore off, my arm started to feel a tearing pain again. I pressed the call button and asked the doctor to come and prescribe painkillers for me.
Half an hour later, the pain was much less.
My phone is missing, and I can't contact my assistant or Muye for a while, so I'm bored and sitting on the sofa watching TV.
