Why is he here?
The suitcase looks familiar. Could it be Shi Xia's?
Without hesitation, the moment I opened the door, my eyes lit up.
Under the porch lamp, the man had a handsome face with deep, sculpted features. His pale skin accentuated his refined and aloof demeanor, and his dark eyes were unfathomable.
Dressed in a suit and tie, with a long trench coat and a neat tie, he was impeccably dressed.
After not seeing him for several days, he looked neither fat nor thin, in good spirits, with a blank expression that revealed no emotion.
"I found Shi Xia's suitcase in the underground storage room and brought it to you. I don't know if the photos you are looking for are inside."
He broke the silence before the motion-sensor lights in the hallway went out.
It really was Shi Xia's suitcase.
"Please come in."
I spoke to him politely.
Fu Yanshen walked in carrying a suitcase, and I casually closed the front door.
“That woman isn’t your biological mother,” he said abruptly as he entered.
I raised an eyebrow. "How can you be so sure?"
Could it be that he knows who my biological mother is? He knows about my background?
He had his back to me and it took him a while to speak, “You couldn’t possibly abandon your sister.”
I:"……"
He placed his suitcase on the carpet in the center of the living room, opened it, stood up, took off his trench coat, unbuttoned his shirt cuffs, rolled up his sleeves, and looked at me. "Let's look for it together."
I carried a glass of warm water, walked over to him, and placed it on the coffee table.
Pick up the trench coat from the sofa and hang it on the coat rack by the door to avoid getting it wrinkled.
I sat facing him on the carpet, with Shi Xia's suitcase between us. Inside were her work notebooks, diaries, some books, perfume, lipstick, and other items.
Fu Yanshen said that the suitcase was packed up by the maid and put in the basement, and he didn't expect it to still exist.
We flipped through the books one by one, looking for that photo.
As I flipped through the pages of my diary, a photograph fell out and I picked it up.
It's a group photo of four people, not the one I'm looking for.
However, I recognized them at a glance: Shi Jin and Fu Yanshen were young, and Shi Xia and Fu Ren were a little younger.
Young Fu Yanshen, wearing a black shirt, with thick bangs that almost covered his eyebrows and eyes, and a slightly raised chin, looked arrogant yet gloomy and world-weary.
"Found it?"
He asked, and I turned the photo over to show him.
"Gloomy and decadent, as if he has no will to live," I commented.
He twitched his lips, took the photo, crumpled it in his hand, and then threw it into the trash can.
"Back then, my motivation for living was revenge, but I didn't have the power to do so, which made me very frustrated."
He truly had no will to live.
At the age of five, he witnessed his mother being murdered and nearly died himself. He jumped into the river to escape and survived...
Is this the one?
Fu Yanshen's voice brought me back to my senses. I looked at the photo in his hand, picked up my phone to compare it, and said, "Yes!"
“It’s Shi Jin. I went to the orphanage quite late. When I met her, she was already ten years old. This one looks very young, so I didn’t recognize her.”
He flipped the photo over, and there were the names Shi Xia and Shi Jin written on it.
It was actually Shi Jin.
I gasped. "She saw her mother but didn't recognize her... I understand now, she deliberately made her mother mistake me for someone else! Or, did they conspire to frame me?"
Several possibilities exist.
This Shi Jin is truly depraved and insane.
"I've taken care of her," Fu Yanshen said coldly as he stood up.
I quickly stopped him, "Fu Yanshen, I'll deal with her myself!"
I don't want him to bear any more guilt, especially because of me.
Fu Yanshen's face darkened. "She made things difficult for you because of me."
I shook my head. "She's jealous of me because I'm getting close to Ouyang. I'll throw the mud back at her."
