Chapter 217 Let Me Show You My First Love

His white shirt was almost completely stained black. His thin face was covered in black ash and had several fine scratches. His sunken eyes had bloodshot whites, and his thin lips were dry and cracked.

All limbs are intact and appear to be unharmed.

My throat tightened, and my vision blurred instantly. He stepped across the threshold and came in, looking at me with a faint smile.

"Fu Yanshen, I thought, I still thought you—"

I opened my arms and hugged him, burying my face in his warm chest, and wept with joy.

He reeked of gunpowder smoke mixed with the smell of burning.

Fu Yanshen hugged me tightly, "Miss, how could I dare disobey you?"

His deep, magnetic voice carried a hint of indulgent laughter.

Upon hearing this, I hugged him even tighter, rubbing my face against his chest to feel his presence and soothe the panic of losing him.

I'm afraid he'll die.

God knows how I got through that night.

After a long while, Fu Yanshen's rough, warm palms gripped the back of my neck, pulling my head slightly away, while his other iron arm tightly encircled me, holding me firmly in his arms.

I tilted my chin up, and he seemed about to kiss me, but then stopped halfway.

A pair of deep eyes stared at my face, their gaze full of affection, "Like a cat crawling into a furnace pit."

He was referring to the black ash from his clothes that had gotten on my face.

With tears mixed in, you can imagine how embarrassing my face looked at that moment.

Even so, he still kissed me violently.

His kiss was filled with overwhelming emotion. I knew that he must have escaped death to be able to come back.

I returned his kiss passionately, our kisses entwined, our breaths intertwined, our love overflowing, lost in the moment.

As he released his grip, a ray of golden light pierced through the clouds, illuminating his disheveled face and coating him with a golden glow. My heart skipped a beat.

Fu Yanshen curled his fingers and wiped away the tears from my eyes. "These panda eyes... you missed me that much?"

He has a rather unserious manner.

I instinctively rolled my eyes at him.

He pulled me into the house. Fu Ren was standing in the corridor, head down, smoking.

At this moment, he threw away his cigarette and went to meet Fu Yanshen.

"Fu... Fu Yanshen...you're injured..."

That's when I noticed that Fu Yanshen's shirt was stained red with blood on the back!

There was a brown, bloody hole in the shoulder blade area.

In an instant, my brain buzzed and my whole body froze.

Fu Yanshen turned his head to look at me from behind, raised his arm and tucked me under his armpit. "It was shrapnel, just a minor injury."

He spoke of it casually.

But it felt like I'd been stabbed in the heart.

...

Shortly after Fu Yanshen lured Han Chen away last night, Han Chen realized he had fallen into a trap and switched his pursuit to me.

He had no choice but to sneak back to his criminal hideout and use the mercenaries' explosives to blow it up, hoping to force Han Chen to give up the pursuit of me.

He narrowly escaped death in the instant the explosion occurred, while Han Chen perished in the flames.

"Go upstairs and take a shower, then get some sleep," he said gently, stroking the back of my head.

I frowned. "What about you? Aren't you going to the hospital for your injury?"

Fu Yanshen: "We just opened yesterday, and today the president is injured and hospitalized. If word gets out, the stock price will plummet. Ah Ren will handle it for me. You go to sleep first, and I'll come upstairs to keep you company later."

I suddenly remembered that back in northern Myanmar, when he was injured by shrapnel while saving me, he treated it the same way.

But can his current physical condition be taken lightly?

Seeing that I refused, he gave me a reassuring look.

This remote town probably doesn't have any decent hospitals, so I didn't insist and went upstairs to take a shower.

It's been about 18 hours since Han Chen took me hostage. I've been terrified and panicked, and I'm covered in cold sweat. My clothes have long since gone bad.

Especially from her thick, curly hair, you could smell the stench of sweat.

Only after Fu Yanshen returned safely did I have the mind to tidy myself up.

After relaxing completely, I belatedly realized that my whole body ached as if it had fallen apart, especially my wrists and ankles, which had been bound by ropes before.

After drying my hair, I was exhausted. Since I didn't have any clean clothes to change into, I decided to hand wash all the dirty clothes I had taken off and hang them on the balcony outside.

"I told you to rest, why are you still doing laundry?"

Fu Yanshen came up the creaking wooden stairs. When he saw me, he reached out and touched the back of my head, leading me into the room.

"The shrapnel has been removed?"

"Um."

"Did you take anti-inflammatory medicine? You'll get a fever again."

"have eaten."

"Where are the painkillers?"

"Why would you need painkillers for such a minor injury?"

"..."

Once inside the room, he lifted me onto his lap, his gaze scanning my face, slowly moving down to my wrists, where his fingers gently rubbed the red marks.

Does your foot still hurt?

As soon as he finished speaking, he bent down and took one of my feet in his hand.

"It's gone down, it doesn't hurt anymore."

I still remember the blisters on the soles of my feet.

I looked him over and washed away the dust; all that remained on his face were a few thin wounds.

"Ah Ren said you didn't eat anything—"

"I'm not hungry, I'm just sleepy and tired," I interrupted him.

Fu Yanshen laid me down on the bed, and he lay on his side next to me, stretching out one of his arms to give me a pillow.

"By the way, your wallet is in your suit pocket."

I reached for his wallet on the bedside table to hand it to him, but my hand was too weak and the wallet hit my face.

It was quickly removed.

He rubbed my sore nose.

In a fleeting glance, I saw a photograph embedded in the open wallet, and I suddenly remembered what Shi Xia had once told me.

"I still have it," I said quietly.

"What?"

He was puzzled.

I awkwardly turned my head away, closed my eyes, and said, "Going to sleep."

The room fell silent.

When I realized that I was being quite dramatic and was still jealous of Shi Jinfei, Fu Yanshen broke the silence.

"You mean this photo? I kept a photo of my first love, so what?"

Hearing his words, I was instantly furious.

She turned her face away and glared at him resentfully.

Fu Yanshen raised his wallet, pulled out the upside-down photo, turned it around, and held it above my face with his fingers.

"Let me show you my first love, isn't she beautiful?"

In the photo, the girl is wearing a bright red halter dress, looking back at the camera. She has wavy hair and a bright, carefree smile on her face, with her lips upturned and her eyes full of laughter.

It's like being caught on camera when someone suddenly turns around while running.

The backdrop is the ancient Big Ben, and beside her is the beautiful Thames River. The golden rays of the setting sun are shining on her profile, making her look beautiful and vibrant.

"Xiao Fu! This angle, quick, quick!"

Looking at the photo, I seem to hear my 21-year-old self, that exuberant and cheerful voice.

In my mind, Fu Yanshen, dressed in a black suit, was walking along the riverbank with a DSLR camera in hand, looking rather uninterested as he turned his head to look at the scenery in the distance.
