Chapter 27 Seduction in the Study

The surge of emotion deep within me hadn't completely subsided; my heart was still pounding, and I kept taking deep breaths.

"Shi Xia, what's up so late?"

At that moment, Fu Yanshen's gentle and approachable voice came from the doorway of the room.

Ah, it's that Shi Xia again.

I forced a smile, pulled up the blanket, and wrapped myself tightly in it.

"Brother Fu, it's a work-related matter. I'm working overtime approving projects submitted by the development department, but I always struggle with the cost budget and output value. Could you teach me?"

"I'm going to give them their first review tomorrow."

Shi Xia's anxious and helpless voice came from the doorway.

"Okay, go to the study and wait for me while I change my clothes."

Fu Yanshen answered her immediately, without a moment's hesitation or doubt.

Compared to simply and brutally venting his lust on me, he was much more attracted to the ambiguous and intimate relationship with his childhood sweetheart, which was separated by a thin veil of secrecy.

Xia was clearly doing it on purpose back then. She worked overtime at night, but what was she doing during the day?

Calling him away now would both disrupt Fu Yanshen and my roommates, create an opportunity for her to be alone with him, and demonstrate her hard work.

In his past life, Fu Yanshen loved her for her "hard work and ambition".

Unlike me, who is ignorant and incompetent.

Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Fu Yanshen go to the dressing room. A little while later, he came out again, carrying a fresh woody scent. Then, he left the bedroom without a word.

I swallowed hard, suppressing the bitterness welling up inside me, closed my eyes, and went back to sleep.

Just as I was drifting off to sleep, my phone rang at the most inopportune moment.

It was my dad calling.

He had already sent me a video to check up on me once after I got home, and now he's calling me again.

It's already 10 p.m.

I wanted to pretend I was asleep and not answer, but I was worried that he would be too anxious to sleep.

My father is getting old and can no longer manage the business. A couple of years ago, he handed the company over to my younger brother and my cousin, but they lost several big projects and the company was in crisis.

It was only after Fu Yanshen became president that the situation was turned around.

He had always thought highly of Fu Yanshen, an important official. After the incident with the Shen family, he discovered that Fu Yanshen had powerful backers, which made him even more eager to keep this eligible bachelor.

"Qiaoqiao, is Yan Shen by your side? How are you getting along with him?"

My father's deep, serious voice came through the receiver.

"Dad, he's not with me. He's working overtime in his study. He's very busy."

I didn't say anything; he was in the study tutoring his childhood sweetheart.

If Dad knew that Fu Yanshen and Shi Xia's relationship wasn't just that of a CEO and his assistant, or childhood sweethearts, he wouldn't feel at ease.

Besides, he loves me so much, he'll definitely help me get revenge and make Shi Xia suffer.

“Yan Shen works so hard, as his wife, you should bring him a late-night snack and show him some care.”

My father gave me earnest advice.

I:……

He's really trying to force me and Fu Yanshen to be together...

"Dad, Fu Yanshen has a bad stomach and can't eat late-night snacks. They're hard to digest at night."

I'm telling the truth.

"Yes, I heard you mention before that he has a bad stomach. You brat, tell me how much you cared about Yan Shen before, how did you suddenly change your mind?"

After saying this, Dad sighed deeply.

His words also stirred up my memories.

In the past, when Fu Yanshen came home late from social engagements, I would make lemon honey water and wait for him on the sofa in the living room downstairs to help him sober up.

I heard that medicinal soups are good for the stomach, so I personally went to the market to buy the freshest ingredients and to the Chinese medicine shop to get Chinese herbs to make soup for him.

Whenever he's at the company, I'll bring him a homemade lunchbox at noon...

Looking back now, it's truly a dark chapter in my history that's hard to talk about.

“Dad, people always change…” I said in a hoarse voice, my nose stinging with tears.

The father on the other end of the phone was silent for a moment.

"Yes, Qiaoqiao, people's hearts always change, so what you get in hand is what's real."

"Whether you still have feelings for Fu Yanshen or not, you must help me tie him down, Qiaoqiao. Only when the Sheng family prospers can you and your brother prosper; only when the Sheng family declines will the Sheng family suffer—"

“Dad, I understand these principles.” I interrupted his clichéd remarks with a hint of impatience.

I truly understand this principle.

I really wanted to tell him it was no use; Fu Yanshen would take the initiative to divorce me in two years.

"Then go to the study now and bring Yan Shen something to show he cares. He's an orphan, and although he's aloof, he still needs love deep down. It's so late, so tea isn't necessary, just milk, warm milk!"

Listening to my father's words, I thought to myself, he needs love, but not mine.

What he needs is the care and love of his childhood sweetheart, who shared his plight and grew up with him in the orphanage.

If I go and bother them now, Fu Yan will be furious.

To prevent me from playing any tricks on him, Dad specially turned on a video call and asked me to livestream myself heating up milk for Fu Yanshen and delivering the milk. After knocking on the study door, he heard Fu Yanshen's reply and watched me push the door open before hanging up.

I'm totally impressed.

I hurriedly stuffed my phone into my pajama pocket and started holding the tray with both hands.

The air in the study was filled with a seductive and alluring female fragrance. I looked up and saw a man sitting upright behind a heavy French-style desk, with a little vixen nestled beside him.

The little fairy craned her neck, looking at the documents in front of him.

She had long, slightly wavy hair and wore a silk nightgown. One side of the outer layer of the nightgown had slipped down her shoulder, revealing her fair shoulders and collarbone, while underneath she wore a V-neck slip dress...
