I cleared my throat discreetly, looked at the back of his head, and said proudly, "Thank you for your understanding."
Actually, I would prefer to force him to divorce me through my own means; it would feel more satisfying and give me a sense of balance.
His willingness to let go ultimately put me at a disadvantage.
Hearing my words, Fu Yanshen did not react at all. He did not turn around or say anything, but simply took a step and walked towards the door.
I looked down at the still-warm divorce certificate in my hand, a slow smile playing on my lips, and couldn't help but sigh inwardly:
In any case, it's finally over.
From now on, I have no connection with Fu Yanshen whatsoever.
Upon exiting the registration area, Fu Yanshen was already standing beside his car.
"Ah Shen!"
A gentle female voice came from inside.
I looked in the direction of the sound and saw a woman in a beige trench coat with long black hair standing at the car door, welcoming Fu Yanshen.
Shi Jin.
She returned from northern Myanmar.
It turns out that Fu Yanshen initiated the divorce for her sake.
I twitched the corner of my mouth.
Fu Yanshen held the door frame for her with one hand and supported her waist with the other, considerately helping her bend down to get into the car.
I scratched the words on the divorce certificate with my thumbnail.
"Sis, are you done?"
Bei Chen's voice came from above my head. I looked up and saw that he was looking in the direction of Fu Yanshen.
"Who is that woman?" he asked in a deep voice, gripping my arm tightly as he spoke.
"Ouch...it hurts..." I gasped.
Bei Chen snapped out of his daze and quickly let go.
"This has nothing to do with us anymore, let's go."
I was afraid that if he found out that Shi Jin was Fu Yanshen's sweetheart, he would stand up for me and fight with them, so I pulled him away.
"Finally divorced."
Beichen took the divorce certificate from my hand, a rare smile playing on his lips, looking genuinely happy.
“Yes, your sister is homeless now, and you’ll have to take care of her from now on,” I teased him on purpose.
Beichen put his arm around my shoulder, embraced me, and led me to his car.
"I'll take care of you for the rest of your life!" His tone was filled with joy and certainty.
"You might be willing, but your future wife might not. By the way, Mom's been arranging blind dates for you. Which lady have you taken a fancy to? Do I know any of them?" I couldn't help but gossip, partly to distract myself from my recent divorce.
Bei Chen's face visibly darkened. "I don't like any of them."
His tone was cold, and he seemed very angry.
After I got in the car, I was about to unbuckle my seatbelt when Beichen leaned over and grabbed it.
"Do you have a girl you like, but you're afraid your mom won't approve?"
I asked carefully.
Beichen is 25 this year, and I've never heard him mention having a girlfriend. But how could a normal person not have a need for romance?
I guess he has a girl he likes, but he doesn't dare tell his mother.
Beichen stood frozen in front of me, head bowed, not saying a word.
"Did I hit the nail on the head? Should I go talk to your mom on your behalf?"
I raised my hand, stroked his black hair, and asked softly.
He suddenly leaned against my chest and wrapped his arms tightly around my waist.
I was stunned for a moment.
His face was buried in my heart. "No, I don't have a woman I like."
His voice was muffled, as if it carried a hint of sadness.
"Alright, why are you suddenly acting all cute? If you don't have it, just look for it. You're not a kid anymore." I ruffled his hair and said affectionately.
He only dares to act spoiled in front of me; in front of his parents, he always seems emotionless.
Beichen finally got up and helped me fasten my seatbelt.
A pair of captivating eyes, with reddish corners.
"Sis, don't mention girlfriends to me anymore."
He fastened his seatbelt, looked straight ahead, and said in a deep voice, his tone clearly showing displeasure.
"Sheng Beichen, you wouldn't... like men, would you?" I asked seriously, belatedly realizing what was going on.
He turned his head and glared at me.
He looked annoyed.
“Sheng Qiaoqiao, you have such a vivid imagination.” He teased me, forcefully manipulating the manual gear shifter of the Wrangler. “But it could be even bigger.”
He spoke the next sentence in a somber tone.
I was completely confused and kept asking him what he meant, but he refused to tell me no matter what.
When I got home, my mom was in a good mood and had the kitchen prepare a table full of my favorite dishes.
"We've finally gotten rid of that bodyguard. From now on, we won't have to worry about him becoming too powerful and taking over our company. Beichen, you can go to the company this afternoon to help your father with the work."
"Qiaoqiao, just rest in the hospital for a few days. Once you're discharged, I'll arrange blind dates for you. There are already several young men in line waiting for you. Here, this is a marriage charm that Mom got for you this time."
My mother, with a kind and gentle face, looked at me, smiled, and after speaking, pushed the red talisman bag into my hand.
At this moment, Dad slammed his chopsticks down hard.
Beichen and I were both shocked.
"What blind date? Qiaoqiao and Sinan are so close, and Sinan is so attentive to her. Can't you see that, or are you pretending not to?"
Dad said to Mom with displeasure, his brows furrowed, looking very angry.
Mom slammed her hand on the table. "Old Sheng, don't you know how outstanding and picky Song Sinan is? Even if he has feelings for Qiao Qiao and takes good care of her, why would he marry a divorced woman?"
"Don't even mention a second marriage, even if Qiaoqiao were to get married for the first time, he still wouldn't marry her."
"He Suqing! How dare you speak to my daughter like that?!" The father's face darkened further as he shouted sternly.
Seeing that they were arguing again because of me, I quickly stood up to try and mediate.
The mother's eyes reddened, and she pulled out a handkerchief to wipe her tears. "The way you're saying this makes it sound like Qiaoqiao isn't my daughter. What I said wasn't the truth? You can ask Qiaoqiao if you don't believe me."
His father was still glaring at him.
"Dad, Mom is right. I'm not good enough for Song Sinan. Otherwise, I would have pursued him back in middle school! Please don't fight because of me, it will make me very sad!"
After saying that, I ran out and asked the driver to take me back to the hospital.
After being reborn, I discovered that my parents would always disagree or even argue about anything related to me.
I truly don't want their relationship to be strained because of me.
After a few days of observation in the hospital, I was discharged safely, but my left arm was fractured and it will take at least three months to heal.
In the past few days, Shengshi's stock has been plummeting due to Fu Yanshen's sudden resignation. However, my father made preparations to support the stock price when I decided to get a divorce.
When the market reopened, Shengshi's stock price rebounded somewhat.
However, just as we were catching our breath, another bolt of lightning struck.
#Former President of Shengshi Group, Fu Yanshen, has jumped ship to a rival company#
#Multiple Senior Executives of Shengshi Group Resign#
Fu Yanshen became Shengshi's long-time rival and the president of Mingde Group. Many of Shengshi's senior executives also jumped ship to join him.
With so many key employees suddenly leaving, Shengshi's stock price plummeted again.
"This Fu Yanshen is clearly targeting us, retaliating against us!"
In the living room, Mom said angrily.
What reason would Fu Yanshen have to retaliate against us? He already let me go.
