Chapter 31

Chapter 31

Shen Fengni opened her eyes and saw an unfamiliar ceiling.

The bed beneath me was comfortable and soft, and the quilt had been dried in the sun and still retained the scent of the sun.

She was stunned for two seconds, and then all the memories of yesterday flooded into her mind, making her sober up in an instant.

Everything seems unreal like a dream.

In the past 24 hours, Jiang Zhuoyan took her away from the marriage, brought her home, took her in, and said she could stay as long as she wanted.

Even if it was between good friends, it was a great favor, let alone Jiang Zhuoyan, whom she met by chance.

In her previous life, she had only thought of this young Mr. Jiang as cold on the outside but warm on the inside, kind by nature. Now, it seemed that Jiang Zhuoyan was even better than she had imagined, so much so that she didn't know how to repay him.

However, given the current situation, there is very little that can be done, so Shen Fengni can only keep this favor in mind for the time being and wait for the right opportunity to repay it in the future.

Shen Fengni stretched and found her cell phone under her pillow.

The chat software is quite quiet. Apart from the group chat, there are only two unread messages.

A message from my mother: Feng Ni, come back when you’ve calmed down.

Another message from Yu Qian: "Are you up yet? Don't be angry."

The tone of both of them was very polite, even a little cautious, which made Shen Fengni, who was used to their arrogant and cold faces, a little uncomfortable.

Of course, the current attitude of the mother and Yu Qian is not due to self-reflection, but is thanks to Jiang Zhuoyan.

Yesterday, just as she decided to stay temporarily at Jiang Zhuoyan's house, she received a call from home.

"Chen Fengni, what are you doing?"

"You're making it difficult for everyone, you know?"

"Come back quickly! Re-hold the wedding!"

"You have to apologize to everyone."

"Also, apologize to Mr. Jiang and explain everything clearly. Don't drag down the family!"

The people on the other end of the phone were very emotional and started to accuse each other. The scene was chaotic, comparable to a vegetable market during the Spring Festival.

Command after command was given, as if Shen Fengni on the other end of the line wasn't a living person, but an intelligent AI serving them, who would obey unconditionally as long as they were given an order.

Shen Fengni frowned and was about to hang up the phone when a hand suddenly reached out and took the phone from her hand.

She was startled and turned to look over.

Jiang Zhuoyan held the phone in his hand, his eyes gloomy, like the sky before a rainy day.

She said coldly, "What are you arguing about?"

As if cast by a silencing magic, the noise from the other side stopped abruptly in an instant.

After a while, Shen Fengni heard her father's respectful voice, "Sorry to bother you, Mr. Jiang."

Jiang Zhuoyan: "Since you know you're disturbing me, don't call me again."

The world has been peaceful since then, and no blind people have bothered her anymore, until these two messages this morning.

Everyone wanted to catch her and criticize her immediately, but they dared not say anything because of Jiang Zhuoyan's face.

When Shen Fengni thought about this, she found it very funny and at the same time very happy.

She was in a good mood and curled the corners of her lips. She ignored the messages from her mother and Yu Qian and did not make any response.

There was a series of small noises near the door, followed by the sound of claws scratching the door, one by one, quite urgently.

Shen Fengni got out of bed, picked up the uninvited guest at the door, and returned to bed.

Little Sanhua nestled obediently in her arms, making a purring sound from her throat, her black eyes wide open, like an innocent princess.

Nini was very excited about her moving into the Jiang family. She kept following her around and even ignored her master.

Nini and she have the same name, maybe it's a wonderful fate.

Shen Fengni couldn't help but lower her head, rubbed the cat's forehead with the tip of her nose, and then started taking pictures with her mobile phone.

After taking a few pictures, a new message popped up on WeChat.

Zhezhi: Good morning.

Chen Fengni paused, clicked on Zhezhi's dialog box, and habitually wanted to type a reply immediately, but stopped.

Perhaps because he didn't want to disturb her wedding, Zhezhi hadn't contacted her all day yesterday. She'd been scrambling all day, running away from her marriage and moving house, and she'd fallen asleep straight away, not even thinking of chatting with Zhezhi.

Zhezhi was a friend she trusted, and she really wanted to share with him what had happened to her in the past two days.

She hadn't spoken before because the situation was too complicated and she didn't want to cause trouble for the other party. Now that the matter was basically a foregone conclusion, she felt there was no need to hide it.

Chen Fengni lowered her eyes and thought, and soon she had new worries.

Given her and Zhezhi's current relationship, wouldn't it be a bit inappropriate to talk about these things?

But if it is a broken branch, you will know it sooner or later.

After a brief hesitation, Shen Fengni made a decision.

Feng Ni: Good morning.

She continued typing in the dialog box: I have something to tell you, are you free now?

As if they had telepathy, at the same time she sent the message, Zhezhi sent a reply: Did the wedding go well?

Breaking branches: when you have time.

Feng Ni: I ran away from my marriage.

Perhaps because the message was too blunt and explosive to be accepted, Zhezhi took five minutes to reply: Why?

Feng Ni: My fiancée cheated on me.

This time Zhezhi replied quickly: You should run away from the marriage.

Then comes the next one: How can I help you?

Shen Fengni leaned against the headboard and let out a long breath. A few strands of cold brown hair slid down from her ears, obscuring the cheerful smile in her eyes.

Things that I once thought were difficult to talk about are now just two simple sentences, no big deal.

But she felt relieved because of Zhezhi's reaction.

No questioning, no blaming, respect her decision and support her.

Zhezhi treated her as before, as if a lamp was burning behind her, not a dazzling light, but enough to dispel the darkness around her.

Feng Ni: I’m living at a friend’s house now.

Feng Ni: Don’t worry, everything is fine.

When typing the word "friend", my fingers paused for a moment.

Shen Fengni suddenly hesitated, not knowing how to define her relationship with Jiang Zhuoyan.

Given her status and position, claiming to be Jiang Zhuoyan's friend was clearly beyond her reach. Furthermore, Jiang Zhuoyan was probably just helping her out of kindness, seeing her in trouble, and he probably didn't want to develop a further friendship with her.

Anyway, Jiang Zhuoyan wouldn't know that she called her like that, so just think of her as being shameless for once.

Nini came over at this time, and Chen Fengni stroked the cat's soft back, putting this entanglement behind her.

After staying in bed for a while, Chen Fengni washed up, got up and went downstairs.

The living room is bright and clean, filled with sunlight, and the air has a light scent of grass and trees, which smells very nice.

Jiang Zhuoyan's villa wasn't too big, but it was very comfortable everywhere. After staying there for one night, Shen Fengni was already very familiar with the structure of the house. She walked down the stairs with ease and went to the kitchen, wanting to make herself a simple breakfast.

However, the scene before her shocked her again.

There was a sandwich on the dining table, wrapped in brown oil paper with English prints and carefully covered with plastic wrap, lying quietly on a white plate.

Shen Fengni walked over quickly and saw a note.

"There's milk in the refrigerator. Heat it up before drinking."

The elegant and graceful handwriting was obviously written by the hostess of the house.

Her heartbeat suddenly accelerated. As she looked at the exquisite breakfast, an indescribable sour feeling suddenly surged in her heart.

For many people, waking up and seeing that someone had left breakfast for them is just an ordinary daily occurrence that is not worth mentioning, but it is not the case for Yu Chenfengni.

It had been so long since anyone had cooked for her that she had forgotten what it felt like to be cared for and thought about. So even a breakfast could leave her bewildered, and she stood there in a daze for a long moment.

Shen Fengni carefully put the note into his pocket, picked up the sandwich and took a bite.

The familiar smell made her slightly dazed.

In her previous life, Sheng Xinyan was in trouble, and she was rushing to the company in the heavy snow. At that time, Jiang Zhuoyan suddenly appeared, picked her up, and gave her the same sandwich.

Memories of her past life flooded into her mind, warming her again across time and space.

Chen Fengni put the food down, picked up her phone, and sent a message to Jiang Zhuoyan.

Feng Ni: The sandwich is delicious, thank you Mr. Jiang.

Feng Ni: What would you like to eat tonight, Mr. Jiang? I don't have any plans today, so I can make dinner.

It was always a bit embarrassing to eat and live for free. She had lived alone for many years and her cooking skills were not bad, with several specialties. Jiang Zhuoyan helped her too much, and if she didn't do something, she would be unable to sleep or eat.

Perhaps guessing what she was thinking, Jiang Zhuoyan replied without hesitation: Home-cooked meals will be fine.

Feng Ni: Does Mr. Jiang have any dietary restrictions?

Jiang Zhuoyan: No.

Shen Fengni was quite surprised. Judging from his appearance, Jiang Zhuoyan should be a very particular person, but unexpectedly, he was not picky about food.

It wasn't just the food; Jiang Zhuoyan left her with the impression of being someone who was easy to get along with.

Shen Fengni was eating breakfast while flipping through the menu and quickly decided on tonight's dishes.

She was thinking about when to go shopping at the supermarket when the doorbell suddenly rang.

Shen Fengni walked to the door and saw a man in a property management uniform on the screen.

She opened the door and said politely, "Mr. Jiang is not at home now."

The man smiled: “Miss Shen, I’m here to see you.”

Jiang Zhuoyan had already informed the property management yesterday, so the staff all knew about Shen Fengni's existence and were very warm and polite to her.

Shen Fengni asked in surprise: "Looking for me?"

"I was asked to pass this on to you."

Only then did Shen Fengni notice that the man was holding an exquisite little box in his hand. It was the size of a palm, with a heavy wooden shell and a simple and elegant pattern on the surface.

It looked like there was a piece of jewelry inside.

She took it and asked puzzledly: "Who asked you to give it to me?"

"The lady didn't leave her name, but she said you'll understand once you see what's inside."

The man answered respectfully, then added considerately, "But don't worry, we've checked the contents and there's no safety issues."

Shen Fengni thanked him and turned to close the door.

She opened the box.

A touch of green comes into view.

It is a crystal clear jade bracelet with a soft texture, elegant and gentle. It shines beautifully under the sunlight, reminiscent of the lush green mountains in the early morning.

Chen Fengni didn't know much about jade, but she could feel its expensiveness just from its appearance.

She became more and more confused. Thinking of what the staff said, she took out the bracelet and put it aside, then rummaged through the small box.

Sure enough, at the bottom of the box, there was a folded cardboard card.

Shen Fengni unfolded it, and the next second his brows furrowed tightly.

The card was written by Yu Qian: Feng Ni, let’s make peace.
