Wei Qinglou kept calling him "Young Master Jiang" and saying "You're still young," which infuriated Jiang Shaoxing, but he couldn't refute it. In the end, he could only bid farewell to Zhu Jiayu with a sense of grievance and leave Wei Qinglou.
With the great victory achieved, Wei Qinglou's joy was palpable.
Zhu Jiayu, holding the flowers, said, "It's shameful to argue with a child."
She remembered what he had just said and raised an eyebrow: "How do you know about the crystal egg?"
Wei Qinglou was stunned. Under her gaze, he finally confessed: "When you returned to Suiping from Songjiang, I was worried about you, so I had the guards secretly follow and protect you..."
"And then, while you're at it, go to Songjiang to find out about me, and then report back to you?" Zhu Jiayu continued his words.
Wei Qinglou dared not speak.
Zhu Jiayu tugged at his sleeve and said with emotion, "Lord Wei is in the prime of his youth and still has a good appearance. Even if he has done something, I will not be angry with him easily."
This is returning what he just said.
"However, if Lord Wei has any business next time, he can simply ask me. There's no need to beat around the bush and send someone to investigate," she added.
Wei Qinglou smiled and nodded: "Okay, I've got it."
Zhu Jiayu pulled him along by the sleeve, remembering how he had called her Miss Zhu in front of Jiang Shaoxing, and said, "Our statuses are so different now, so I was thinking that we should tell Father and Aunt about our relationship after some time has passed. What do you think?"
Zhu Jiayu felt that after some time, when they truly understood their own feelings and were certain that the person by their side was someone they could entrust their whole life to, they would be qualified to talk about the future.
Wei Qinglou understood her concerns, gently opened his palm, and lightly covered her hand through his sleeve: "If you think it's good, then it's good."
He only squeezed it briefly before letting go, and her already slightly red earlobes turned an even deeper red.
Zhu Jiayu smiled secretly, then said seriously, "Then in front of outsiders, you should still call me Miss Zhu."
As expected.
Wei Qinglou nodded.
He remembered that his coming-of-age ceremony was at the end of this month, and lazily curled his lips: "What would you like to see on my coming-of-age ceremony? How about a sword dance?"
Zhu Jiayu looked down and counted the flower buds on the branches, then casually asked him, "Can I look at whatever I want?"
"Either is fine," Wei Qinglou readily agreed.
Zhu Jiayu tilted his head and thought for a while: "Then write a piece of calligraphy."
Sword dancing is too tiring.
She didn't want him to be so tired.
Writing is easy and not troublesome.
Wei Qinglou chuckled softly. Zhu Jiayu was always a bit more endearing than others. If anyone wanted to see him write at his coming-of-age ceremony, they could probably only find one person in the entire capital: Zhu Jiayu.
...
Jiang Shaoxing returned to his residence with a sullen face, just in time to run into Xi Huan, who had come looking for him.
"You went to your teacher's again today? I was wondering why you hadn't come back for so long," Xi Huan complained.
Jiang Shaoxing hummed in agreement. "Did you need something?"
Xi Huan scratched his head: "Isn't this what I told you last time? Miss Luo wants to ask you for a poem. She's come to me about it many times. Just write her a poem about plum blossoms, otherwise she'll be laughed at by her sisters again."
Jiang Shaoxing coldly replied, "I'm busy."
"Hey, why are you busy? I just asked your aunt, and you're free today. You've finished the homework your teacher assigned, and writing a poem won't take much effort! At worst, I'll buy you that inkstone you've been eyeing for so long!" Xi Huan anxiously put his arm around his shoulder.
Jiang Shaoxing stopped and asked him, "You like Miss Luo?"
Xi Huan jumped in surprise and quickly covered his mouth: "How did you know... Never mind, you're always smart! I knew I couldn't hide it from you!"
Jiang Shaoxing sneered: "Give up. What kind of skill is it to ask me to write poems? Women only like men who cook for them."
"What do you mean?" Xi Huan frowned. Jiang Shaoxing ignored him and walked straight ahead. He couldn't help but call out his name loudly, "Jiang Shaoxing, where are you going!"
Jiang Shaoxing didn't even turn his head: "Go to the kitchen."
...
After sending Zhu Jiayu back to the Zhu residence, Wei Qinglou turned back to Jianyue Tower.
He waited in the private room on the second floor for about the time it takes to drink a cup of tea before a knock came from outside.
His expression was calm, and his tone was even. "Come in."
The next moment, the door was pushed open, and a girl wearing a moss-green jacket embroidered with golden fairy grass and lingzhi patterns appeared in the doorway, surrounded by maids.
Her face was like a silver plate, her eyes like crescent moons, her long hair was styled into a high bun with a jade hairpin, and a gold hairpin with tassels was inserted diagonally at her temples. She wore a gold necklace inlaid with pearls around her neck. Her whole person exuded an overwhelming aura of wealth and nobility from head to toe.
This is a true imperial daughter, pampered and spoiled by immense power.
She curved her lips into a smile, a gentle ripple of joy in her eyes. When she looked up and saw the handsome young man sitting by the window, his features as fair as jade and as verdant as a pine tree, her smile widened. She turned and instructed the maids to wait outside. After closing the door, she stepped forward with delight and called out, "Cousin!"
The old lady of the Duke of Zhenguo's mansion was the late emperor's eldest sister, and Gu Jinshu had to address her as "great-aunt." Wei Qinglou was the grandson of the eldest princess, so in fact, he and Gu Jinshu were cousins.
Gu Jinshu had never been close to anyone since childhood. When she met her cousins, she would only address them as "Your Highness" in a casual manner. As for her own cousin, although they were siblings in name, one was a noble lady from the imperial family and the other was the son of a court official, so they could not truly be considered siblings.
Only Wei Qinglou deserves to be called her "cousin".
