Chapter 103 Wei Qinglou's Trip Is Probably Not Peaceful

As he spoke, he put down his glass and sighed heavily.

Wei Qinglou sneered and looked at them: "So Lord Zhu is aware that the people of Songjiang City are currently suffering greatly. Otherwise, I should think carefully about what Lord Zhu's true intentions are in hosting this banquet today!"

He had never seen an official as callous as Zhu Sen'ao. The people of the city couldn't even get a full meal, yet he, as the local official, hosted a lavish banquet for the imperial envoy from Yujing.

He slammed down his wine cup, and before anyone could react, he drew the sword from the waist of one of his bodyguards and held it to Zhu Sen'ao's neck.

Before Zhu Sen'ao could utter his flattering words, he felt the chill on his neck and saw the gleaming longsword before him. Instantly, he swallowed back the words that were on the tip of his tongue, and his face turned a deep purplish-red.

The wealthy men sitting nearby still had smiles on their faces, but their expressions had become fearful and uneasy. They had not expected that the newly arrived imperial envoy would be so unreasonable, drawing his sword at the drop of a hat!

Seeing that everyone was stunned, Wei Qinglou slowly said, "I will not hold the past against you. I only hope that you will not hold me back in the future when it comes to comforting the disaster victims and rebuilding Songjiang City."

Everyone naturally agreed in unison, not daring to utter a single word of dissent. Especially Zhu Sen'ao, who still had a long sword pointed at his neck, hurriedly feigned a pained expression and pledged his loyalty: "Lord Wei, this humble official will certainly do his utmost and will not dare to neglect the tasks you have entrusted to him. Please, please withdraw your supernatural powers quickly, this humble official is truly not frightened..."

Wei Qinglou curled his lips, sheathed the longsword that gleamed coldly, and returned it to the guard's scabbard.

He looked at the fish in front of him again, but his mind was filled with the scene he had seen on the way here. He looked away and said, "Go and get me a bowl of congee."

Just as the servants were about to make a move, Zhu Sen'ao, dressed in official robes and wearing a black gauze hat, cut them off, saying, "I'll go, I'll go, sir, please wait a moment."

A while after he left, another wealthy merchant surnamed Liu got up from the table and said, "I'll go see why Lord Zhu hasn't returned yet. How can we keep Lord Wei waiting?"

Wei Qinglou waved his hand, which was taken as tacit approval.

The remaining few lowered their heads, exchanged glances, and each had their own thoughts as they urged Wei Qinglou to eat and drink.

Wei Qinglou showed them no respect whatsoever. He put down his chopsticks and said, "Instead of trying to curry favor with me, you should use that money on disaster relief and helping the refugees. When Songjiang City is revitalized, you will all be rewarded according to your contributions."
