After a long while, the girl finally burst into a heart-wrenching cry, and someone finally came to clean up the mess.
However, when the others arrived, they were so overwhelmed by the stench that they took several steps back and dared not approach.
Enraged by their presence, Ji Huanjin covered her face and shouted, "Are you all blind? Can't you see I'm here? Aren't you coming to help? And where are Fuyun and Fuliu? Tell them to quickly fetch hot water for me to bathe and change!"
Her shout brought everyone back to their senses, and some went to fetch water while others caught geese.
As for the culprits behind all this, those few servants, they had already been secretly taken out of the mansion by people arranged by Lü Zheng.
"Once you leave this mansion, remember this: everything that happened here today has nothing to do with you. It's just bad luck that you caused such a mess by carrying a bucket of manure! Get out of here now!"
"Yes, yes, thank you for your understanding, brother."
"We brothers will always remember your great kindness and will repay you when we have the chance."
...
Meanwhile, in Cheng Garden, Ji Huanjin was still waiting for her personal maid to come and take her back to the courtyard.
She was filthy and stinking right now. It would be better to kill her than to let her go back like this under everyone's gaze.
So she had to wait for Fuyun Fuliu to come with a cloak and cape, wrap her up completely, and take her back to the courtyard.
"Miss, what exactly is going on?" Finally, someone couldn't help but ask quietly beside her.
But we can't blame her, after all, when they arrived, they only saw Ji Huanjin here, which makes it hard not to think things through.
Upon hearing this, Ji Huanjin couldn't help but scream, "What do you mean? How should I know? Do you think I did all this? Which courtyard do you serve in? How dare you!"
Seeing this, Qiu Boyan, who was standing in the shadows, finally burst into laughter.
She thought that Ji Huanjin would never forget this day.
"Miss Bo Yan, let's go quickly, it stinks here..." Green Kite covered her nose and urged Qiu Bo Yan.
Qiu Boyan smiled and nodded: "Okay."
Not long after they left this place of trouble, Ji Huanjin was also greeted by her maid.
Even after the maids led her back to the courtyard, she was still somewhat dazed. She couldn't even understand how all of that had happened. Wasn't she just trying to go with Qiu Boyan to see Qi Xiuyuan through that path? Where did the manure-carrying servants come from? Where did the geese come from?
"Miss, let us help you take a bath," Fuyun said softly, taking off the cloak wrapped around her.
Ji Huanjin suddenly glared at her fiercely: "Don't think I don't know what you're up to. Get out of here, we don't need anyone to serve you!"
After dismissing the servants, she took off her clothes, entered the bath, and began to vigorously rub the backs of her hands, calves, and so on, not missing an inch of her skin. Even though her whole body was rubbed red, she could still seem to smell that nauseating odor.
"Qiu Boyan, it must be Qiu Boyan!" She slapped the water's surface violently, shouting and cursing Qiu Boyan.
Just then, there was a knock on the door.
She fell silent, then asked coldly, "Who is it?"
“Miss, it’s me,” Fuyun said from outside the door. “Madam just sent someone to ask why you haven’t gone to the front yard yet. The banquet is about to start. Several ladies said they want to see you.”
Upon hearing this, Ji Huanjin couldn't help but bury herself deeper in the water, leaving only her head above the surface. She muttered, "Go tell Mother that I'm not feeling well and can't go out to meet her guests today."
Fuyun then whispered "yes" and turned to leave.
Ji Huanjin soaked in the water for a long time, and she wondered if it was just her imagination, but she felt that the water seemed to have picked up that stench.
She hurriedly stood up, called Fuliu to change her water, and then lay back down in the new bath.
Today, Chengyuan and Jingyuan were filled with harmony and joy, and the guests and hosts were having a great time. However, Ji Huanjin, who should have been in the limelight and the center of attention, instead locked herself in her room and spent the whole day there.
After the banquet ended, she finally couldn't hold back any longer and ordered Fu Liu through the door, "Go and find Qiu Boyan for me!"
In private, she always addressed the Qiu sisters by their first names, and Fu Liu was already used to it, so she immediately agreed.
When Qiu Boyan was found by Fu Liu, she was somewhat flustered. But she thought that given how much Ji Huanjin cared about her reputation, she probably wouldn't confront her directly right now. With that thought, she felt much more at ease. So when Zhu Jiayu cast a concerned glance at her, she smiled slightly, indicating that she shouldn't worry about her.
The subtle exchange between the two was naturally noticed by Qiu Mingyan, who was sitting at the same table. Almost as soon as Qiu Boyan left, Qiu Mingyan moved to Zhu Jiayu's side and asked curiously, "Cousin Ayu and sister... are you hiding something from me?"
Zhu Jiayu smiled and said, "It's nothing serious."
She turned her head and whispered to Qiu Mingyan what they had done that day.
Qiu Mingyan was stunned. She hadn't expected Zhu Jiayu to be so kind as to help them find a way to teach Ji Huanjin a lesson, nor had she expected her to use such a crude method to teach Ji Huanjin a lesson, and she certainly hadn't expected her sister to be so ruthless... In short, everything that happened in Zhu Jiayu's story sounded like a fantasy to her, utterly outrageous.
If anyone else had said those words to her, she would have slapped them and coldly questioned, "Do you think I, Qiu Mingyan, am stupid?"
But the person who said these words was Zhu Jiayu.
That left her no choice but to believe it.
"Then my sister goes there... Ji Huanjin goes to see her... Will she be alright?"
