Zhu Jiayu carried the basin of water over, her voice still gentle and soft: "Young Master Huaiyu?"
Wang Huaiyu, his eyes still blurry with drunkenness, saw only a jumble of mottled shadows before him: "What do you want with me?"
Zhu Jiayu smiled, grabbed his hair, and shoved him hard into the basin of water.
Li screamed in terror.
Wei Qinglou, who was listening to music in the lakeside pavilion, peeked out of the window and saw what was happening in the pavilion. He was so startled that he dropped his wine cup into the flower bushes below.
Zhu Jiayu glanced around at the crowd in front of him and said calmly, "I've come to you to teach you how to be a person."
She pulled Wang Huaiyu's head out of the basin:
"Are you sober now? If you are, go back to your mother and listen to her. Study hard and write articles. Don't let your mother have another chance to come to my Zhu family's door and curse people. Otherwise, if there is a next time, I'm not sure if the one I push into the water will be your mother's head. Do you understand?"
Wang Huaiyu remained silent, staring blankly at her, whether out of shock or for some other reason.
Zhu Jiayu clicked her tongue impatiently: "You understand what this is about, right? It's pretty unlucky to be blocked at your doorstep and yelled at for no reason. If you don't understand, I'll have someone yell at your doorstep all day tomorrow, then you'll understand, okay?"
Wang Huaiyu finally understood and nodded blankly.
"Where is Madam Wang?"
Madam Wang was so frightened that she couldn't care less about anything else at the moment. When she heard Zhu Jiayu ask, she nodded repeatedly.
Zhu Jiayu was satisfied and returned to the Zhu residence with Lüzheng.
Upon hearing this, the storytellers worked through the night to revise their scripts for tomorrow: "A woman, feeling deeply unlucky about something, devised this solution—have you learned it?" "A sheltered young lady caused a scene at Xingyun Lane, just to utter these words!" "Do you really know the consequences of being bullied for being kind?"
Everyone was discussing Zhu Jiayu's bold and outrageous behavior, but Wei Qinglou, lying on the chaise lounge, couldn't calm down for a long time. When his wine cup fell to the ground, it made a sound. Zhu Jiayu looked over and met his gaze.
Then she smiled.
It was truly shocking, terrifying, ferocious, and awe-inspiring.
Wei Qinglou had never understood so sincerely before that he had underestimated the extent of Zhu Jiayu's madness after their parting at Tanji Temple.
