Chapter Ninety-Seven: I Don't Want Them to Follow in My Footsteps

Qiu Weicha had come once before, and Zhu Jiayu couldn't help but be curious. Now that the Ji family was coming again, it couldn't be for one reason, could it?

Unexpectedly, it actually turned out to be a real thing.

After placing the pastries in front of Zhu Jiayu with a beaming smile, Ji said that she had specially ordered someone to buy them from the renowned Baiyunzhai restaurant in the south of the city. Then she got straight to the point and started talking about Qiu Weicha:

"Does your third uncle mean that closing the shop and laying off the employees so drastically is too hasty? Can't we take it slowly? Or does Ayu have any other ideas?"

Zhu Jiayu picked up a pastry, took a sip, and tasted it. She felt that Baiyunzhai was somewhat overrated. In any case, to her, it was not as good as the tea and snacks at Qiu Boyan's place.

She did not respond to what Ji said.

Until Madam Ji couldn't help but urge her, "Ayu?"

Zhu Jiayu then put down her snacks, looked at Madam Ji, and smiled gently, "Third Aunt is also educated, so I'm sure you know the saying 'No destruction, no construction.'"

Ji was slightly shaken, nodded and murmured, "If that's the case, I understand what A-Yu means."

She wasn't here for this matter; it was just a side trip. So when Zhu Jiayu didn't offer any other solutions, she wasn't too disappointed. She quickly changed the subject and asked Zhu Jiayu her age.

Zhu Jiayu answered, and Madam Ji said kindly, "She is a few months younger than your two older sisters. Our Ayu is beautiful and has a good relationship with the young master, so her marriage will surely be very smooth in the future. If I had a daughter like you, I would have so much less to worry about!"

She sighed heavily.

Zhu Jiayu smiled and comforted her, "Third Aunt, there's no need to say that. Sister Bo Yan and Sister Ming Yan are also very good friends."

“It’s good, but it’s not quite enough.” She pursed her lips and said, “My two daughters are quite outstanding in terms of talent and appearance, and the ladies of Heling all like them. But I secretly think that I have spent my whole life in Heling, and all I have seen is the scenery and people of Heling. I live a life that I can see the end from the beginning. I really don’t want them to follow in my footsteps.”
