Chapter Ten: The brat has no martial ethics

I heard that this young master is the most favored son in the Duke's mansion. Not only is his temper unpredictable, but he also has a variety of ways to torment people.

"Is that Lord Chen in the carriage? My young master invites you upstairs for a chat."

The guard's words outside the carriage interrupted Chen Rusong's reverie. He quickly agreed, bowed his head, got out of the carriage, and followed the guard into the inn, then went up to the second floor.

"Young Master Wei."

Seeing the figure standing by the window in the private room, Chen Rusong lowered his eyes and cupped his hands: "I had long heard of the Third Young Master's esteemed presence..."

Before he could finish his polite words, Wei Qinglou interrupted him: "Lord Chen, I've heard that there's a skilled embroiderer in Suiping City whose embroidery is priceless."

Chen Rusong looked over in surprise and saw that the handsome young man had slightly curved lips, looking nonchalant but with a hint of seriousness.

He paused, quickly recalling that there was only one embroiderer who had recently become very popular in the city, and hurriedly said, "That may be true for others, but if the Third Young Master likes her—"

“I don’t like it, but,” Wei Qinglou said slowly, drawing out his words, “the weather is a bit chilly, and I’m missing a robe. What do you think we should do about it?”

"I understand. I will have the embroiderer come to the inn in a little while."

Wei Qinglou waved his hand: "Why don't we invite him to the magistrate's residence? I've been in Suiping City for so many days and haven't paid a visit to Lord Chen's residence yet. Now that I think about it, it's been quite impolite of me."

Chen Rusong felt bitter, but he could only agree. There was nothing he could do. What could a ninth-rank county official like him say if the young master of the Duke's mansion had made up his mind?

He feared that Wei Qinglou's true intentions lay elsewhere—he had heard that the Duchess of the State was extremely fond of peonies, and coincidentally, his own wife was a flower enthusiast, having planted a garden full of peonies in the mansion.

Wei Qinglou didn't have time to think about that. Hearing Chen Rusong's agreement, he went straight downstairs and ordered the coachman to go to the magistrate's residence.

Chen Rusong lagged behind and ordered his attendants to hurry back to the mansion and deliver the message to his wife.

The lady is intelligent; upon hearing that the Third Young Master Wei is coming, she will surely prepare a plan to deal with it.

While the two men were lost in their own thoughts, the two carriages set off one after the other, and soon arrived at the magistrate's residence.
