Chapter 130: Find the Person

Mu Jingrui's attack failed again.

When he arrived at the border, he found the situation was much worse than he had imagined.

Before he arrived, the imperial court lost two more cities. The barbarians were unstoppable and it was as if they had entered an uninhabited area.

Mu Jingrui stared blankly at the troop deployment diagram in front of him, his brows furrowed, and he fell into deep thought.

Why is it that every time he attacks, the opponent seems to know the deployment in advance, and is always able to make accurate defenses and find their weak points to launch counterattacks?

Seeing the morale dropping day by day, Mu Jingrui realized an unprecedented crisis.

"General Mu, what should we do now?" the deputy general asked worriedly.

Mu Jingrui's eyes flashed with an imperceptible light. He picked up the pen and added a few strokes on the battle formation diagram. He raised his head and scanned the surroundings, then said, "I have reorganized the battle formation. You guys should reorganize it in this way. Tomorrow, continue the attack."

Everyone looked at each other, and then someone raised an objection.

"General Mu, after several days of fighting, the soldiers are exhausted and our casualties are extremely heavy. If we continue to fight at this time, I'm afraid it will be disadvantageous to us."

"Whether it's good or bad, do as I say."

"but……"

Mu Jingrui cast a sharp look at him, making the general who was about to refute feel a chill all over his body. He swallowed the rest of his words involuntarily and took a few steps back.

Having fought on the same battlefield, these veterans actually did not take the young Mu Jingrui seriously at all.

But for some reason, Mu Jingrui seemed to have an innate sharpness that always made people feel creepy.

The people present no longer refuted and could only do as Mu Jingrui instructed.

On the second day, their attack was counterattacked as usual.

Just when everyone thought they were going to give up, Zheng Zhixing came with a team of elite soldiers and launched a fierce attack on the barbarians.

Not only did they encircle and suppress them from the rear, completely annihilating their troops, but they also captured the enemy's generals alive.

"I have lived up to the general's instructions and have successfully completed the mission."

Zheng Zhixing returned to the military tent to report, and everyone looked at the childish boy in front of them with surprise.

"Well done. Where are the prisoners now?" Mu Jingrui asked calmly, as if everything was as expected.

"He is injured. I have found him temporarily detained in the woodshed and have asked a military doctor to check on him. If General Mu feels that he is no longer useful, I will kill him right away."

A strong murderous look also flashed across Zheng Zhixing's face.

"Keep it for now. I have something else to ask him."

After Mu Jingrui finished speaking, he stood up and walked out.

He glanced at every general present from the corner of his eye.

The night was quiet, the evening breeze was blowing, and the entire camp was still on high alert.

A black shadow flashed by, and he designed a way to lure away the two soldiers guarding outside the woodshed and walked in quietly.

In the darkness, he saw a man tied up and thrown in a corner.

He tiptoed over, drew the dagger from his waist and stabbed it hard into the man's heart.

It was still quiet all around.

"No!" The shadow turned the man over and found that his body had already stiffened. "Oh no, I've been fooled."

The dark shadow was about to run away in panic when the oil lamp in the woodshed lit up.

He shuddered all over and froze in place.

Mu Jingrui was sitting at the table, staring at him with sharp eyes.

A chill rushed from the soles of his feet to his forehead. The shadow felt cold all over, and his thoughts went blank for a moment.

"you……"

"I have always found it strange why the barbarians were able to capture many cities of our dynasty with such a weak force. Even after I arrived, I was still unable to stabilize the situation. It turns out that there is a traitor."

Mu Jingrui saw the black shadow's hand move slightly. He raised his wrist and a small branch shot out and pierced straight into the black shadow's palm.

The black shadow wanted to scream in pain, but at that moment, he felt the figure in front of him flash, and his neck was tightly pinched by several fingers, so he couldn't even scream.

"Do you know what will happen if you betray your country and your comrades?"

The black shadow fell into a state of suffocation after being strangled. Just when he thought he was about to die, Mu Jingrui relaxed the strength of his palm.

"Tell me, besides you, who else among us has gone along with you?"

Mu Jingrui removed the black scarf that covered the black shadow's face, and it turned out to be Lieutenant General Chang Ping.

"No...it's just me..." Chang Ping answered angrily while looking at Mu Jingrui.

"You don't stand a chance."

Mu Jingrui smiled coldly, pressed several acupoints on Chang Ping's body, and then called Zheng Zhixing who was guarding outside.

Zheng Zhixing was a little surprised to see Chang Ping, but he didn't ask much.

Chang Ping was a general stationed in the pass all year round, and his family also lived here with him.

"Go and arrest Chang Ping's family members and tie them up outside the city gate for public display. Send his wife and daughter to the camp as a reward for the three armies."

Chang Ping's face suddenly changed when he heard this, and he growled through gritted teeth: "Mu Jingrui, how dare you."

"What do you think?"

Mu Jingrui snorted coldly and walked away.

Chang Ping's throbbing heart began to become even more panicked, and he spent the entire night in agony.

The next morning, Zheng Zhixing brought Chang Ping's youngest son over.

“Dad…Dad…”

Chang Ping looked at his youngest son, trembling and panicking, and hugged him in his arms. He looked up at Zheng Zhixing and asked, "You...are you still human?"

"Are you a human?" Zheng Zhixing asked back, "Are you the only one with a family? You betrayed the court and led foreigners into the pass. How many people have lost their families because of you?"

Chang Ping was speechless, lowered his head and stopped talking.

"General Mu said that if you refuse to give out your accomplices, I will kill your son first, and then give your wife and daughter to your brothers. As for your parents... they will be executed by slow slicing."

"Mu Jingrui is so cruel!" Chang Ping clenched his fists.

Zheng Zhixing also felt that Mu Jingrui was quite cruel, but he didn't know whether Mu Jingrui would really do that.

Chang Ping remained hesitant, so Mu Jingrui ordered him to be tied up in the middle of the camp and his wife and daughter to kneel beside him.

Chang Ping's psychological defenses were collapsing bit by bit, and everyone felt that he couldn't hold on for much longer.

When night fell again, a few people gathered together stealthily, but before they had time to discuss countermeasures, they were surrounded by soldiers who rushed in.

Immediately afterwards, Mu Jingrui lifted the curtain of the military tent and walked in.

His eyes swept over and saw that the vanguards and lieutenant generals made a final counterattack to protect themselves and struck Mu Jingrui with a palm.

Mu Jingrui stood there motionless.
