Chapter Ninety-Eight: The Little Rabbit Negotiates with the Big Bad Wolf

"Punish...punish!"

Su Xiaoxiao stammered and almost bit her tongue. She found that whenever Nangong Yi stared at her like this, her mind would go blank, and she would have no idea how to deal with it.

The same is true now!

Looking at her panicked expression, and remembering what she had said earlier, "That wasn't what he thought," Nangong Yi couldn't help but want to ask her again.

But the words wouldn't come out, and that fear of hearing the cruel answer again surged up once more.

"Nangong, can you let me go first?"

Su Xiaoxiao found that Nangong Yi's silent stare at her made her even more uneasy than when he had a cold expression, and her heart began to pound wildly for no reason.

"I...I have something to tell you."

"What did you say?"

Nangong Yi carried her directly to his desk and made her sit on it. He then pulled over an office chair, crossed his legs, and sat down. His leisurely expression made it seem as if he had dug a trap for her, waiting for her to slowly jump in.

Su Xiaoxiao disliked this kind of 'conversation', as if he had everything under control, leaving her no room to back down.

"Nangong Yi, may I come down to talk?"

"Can't!"

Looking at Su Xiaoxiao's nervous expression, Nangong Yi could guess what she was thinking without even asking.

He pulled the chair forward slightly, placing his legs between her feet, a faint smile appearing on his face.

"Xiaoxiao, are you sure you want to waste the whole night like this with me?"

"Could you turn your head away first?" Su Xiaoxiao looked at him pitifully, her innocent eyes blinking.

"Just a little while, let me finish what I have to say."

"good!"

Nangong Yi shifted his gaze from her eyes to her eloquent little mouth, and comfortably leaned back against the sofa.

Su Xiaoxiao felt resigned to her fate. If there were a "shrewd businessman university" in this world, she really wanted to go in and study there so that she could appear more composed in front of him.

Seeing that she was pursing her lips and not saying anything, Nangong Yi unconsciously raised his eyebrows slightly.

"I just got a severe scolding from Grandpa. If you want to discuss continuing to treat each other with respect, you'll have to convince Grandpa first."

“I didn’t say anything out of line in front of Grandpa. When we had dinner together before, he just explained the friendship between the Nangong family and the Su family. I also told him seriously that I had no misunderstandings, no jealousy, and no intention of linking you and Su Xiaoyue together.”

Su Xiaoxiao spoke with great seriousness, and her expression instantly turned serious. The way she looked at him was no longer hesitant or timid.

“Nangong Yi, when I married you, I thought this was the kind of marriage you wanted, so I always tried my best to maintain it. I used to think that being a respectful and harmonious couple might be nice. But later I realized that our relationship seemed to have changed, become… become like…”

"Become like what?"

Seeing her suddenly blush, Nangong Yi's cold expression gradually faded. He didn't even realize that he was now looking forward to what she would say next.

"Xiaoxiao, what do you want?"

"I don't want anything from you, really!"

Fearing that Nangong Yi would misunderstand, Su Xiaoxiao quickly shook her head vigorously to clarify, and the tension in her eyes reappeared.
