Chapter Twenty: Suspicion of Her Motives

Su Xiaoxiao's reaction disgusted Nangong Yi. After giving her a cold look, he pushed open the door next to him and walked into the dressing room.

When he came out after changing into his pajamas, he saw Su Xiaoxiao still standing there blankly. His cold expression returned, and his sharp gaze was fixed on her.

“Grandpa is staying at home tonight, and I’m afraid he’ll find out if I go out like this.”

Su Xiaoxiao felt guilty under his gaze, and she took a step back in a panic, but Nangong Yi grabbed her arm.

"You stay right here and behave yourself, do you hear me?"

"I...I understand."

Su Xiaoxiao didn't want to agree at all, but Nangong Yi's words were clearly a warning, and his gaze, as if she had done something to offend him, made her very uncomfortable.

Suddenly, as if remembering something, Su Xiaoxiao's tense expression vanished...

Nangong Cang's room.

When Nangong Yi came in, he saw his grandfather sitting on the edge of the bed reading a book.

"Grandpa, why aren't you resting so late?"

"You're back."

Nangong Cang took off his reading glasses, closed the book in his hand, and immediately waved to Nangong Yi, gesturing for him to sit down on the edge of the bed.

"Yi'er, do you still remember the unchanging ancestral precepts of our Nangong family?"

The seriousness on Nangong Cang's face was immediately apparent.

Nangong Yi nodded, a sense of foreboding suddenly welling up in his heart.

“Yi’er, I don’t know what kind of agreement you have with Xiao Xiao, but she is now your wife, and Grandpa hopes you will treat her well. Actually, Xiao Xiao is a kind girl. Today she tried her best to pretend to be a loving couple in front of me. I didn’t expose her because I didn’t want to embarrass her too much.”

"..."

Nangong Yi's brows immediately furrowed. He had asked the old housekeeper about today's events when he returned, and he was relieved to learn that Su Xiaoxiao had simply been playing chess with her grandfather at home.

But his grandfather's words made him underestimate Su Xiaoxiao's methods.

“Yi’er, Grandpa just hopes you can be fair to Xiao Xiao. It must be a blessing from a previous life for two people to be able to be husband and wife. Grandpa is getting old, and there are many things that I can’t take care of even if I want to.

"Grandpa, you will surely live to be a hundred! Also, it's getting late, you should get some rest."

Nangong Yi understood his grandfather's meaning. After nodding in agreement, he immediately helped his grandfather lie down to rest.

"Grandpa, you don't need to worry about me and Su Xiaoxiao. I will handle my relationship with her properly. I have no intention of getting a divorce, and of course, I want to give you a great-grandchild."

"Good, I'm relieved to hear that!"

...

After leaving his grandfather's room, Nangong Yi's cold gaze became even more sharp.

"You're back."

When Su Xiaoxiao heard the door open, she immediately stood up from the recliner, but she was stunned when she saw Nangong Yi's extremely cold eyes.

But she wasn't intimidated. She just stood there and said seriously, "Nangong Yi, I want to talk to you."

"Are you qualified to talk to me?"

Nangong Yi looked at the pretentious woman in front of him, his eyes narrowed again, and a dangerous aura burst forth from his cold gaze.

Su Xiaoxiao didn't know what he meant, but she still walked up to Nangong Yi decisively, suppressed the unease in her heart, and said seriously, "I've finished the act for you, shouldn't you promise me something?"

"So, did you perform well?"

Nangong Yi's expression hardened, and the dangerous aura in his words instantly filled the entire room.
