Su Xiaoxiao slept until the middle of the night before waking up. When she opened her eyes and didn't see Nangong Yi in the bedroom, she couldn't help but breathe a long sigh of relief.
But when she noticed something was wrong with her, she was so frightened that she immediately sat up in bed, her face turning red all the way to her ears.
When did I change into my pajamas?
An overly handsome and aloof face suddenly flashed through her mind. She quickly jumped out of bed and checked her body.
"Snap—"
When the door opened, Su Xiaoxiao, as if possessed by a cat, darted back into bed.
But Nangong Yi happened to see this scene. He suppressed a laugh and leaned against the door, saying, "Xiaoxiao, don't you get enough sleep? It's already one in the morning, aren't you hungry?"
One in the morning?
Su Xiaoxiao was stunned for a moment under the covers. She thought she had only slept for a short while, no wonder she was woken up by hunger.
"I asked the kitchen to make a midnight snack, come down and eat quickly!"
After Nangong Yi finished speaking, he fell silent. He wanted to see how long Su Xiaoxiao planned to stay huddled in the quilt like that.
About five minutes later.
When Su Xiaoxiao didn't hear any more sounds coming from the bedroom, she assumed that Nangong Yi had left, so she quickly threw off the covers and took a deep breath of fresh air.
"I thought you were going to hold it in there for half an hour!"
Nangong Yi's voice made Su Xiaoxiao freeze. She stiffly turned her head and gave a 'hehe' laugh to the cold face at the door.
"I'm used to sleeping with my head covered."
"How come I didn't notice?"
Nangong Yi gave her a meaningful look before turning and leaving.
Su Xiaoxiao resignedly glared at the doorway, then went downstairs to fill her stomach in a huff.
On the long dining table, Su Xiaoxiao's late-night snack was placed next to Nangong Yi by the maid.
She desperately wanted to get another serving, but his eyes had been fixed on her ever since she got off the train, leaving her no choice but to submit and walk towards him.
"Grandpa went to your house."
"What?"
Before Su Xiaoxiao could even sit down, she suddenly jumped up from her chair again.
But Nangong Yi didn't care. He moved her chair slightly and continued after she sat down again, "You don't need to go back to your parents' home anymore. Just pretend they don't exist."
"What! Does Grandpa know about my kidnapping?"
Su Xiaoxiao was startled again, but before she could get up, the man next to her pressed her shoulder down heavily.
When she turned her head and met his overly deep eyes, she was so frightened that she quickly lowered her head to eat.
Nangong Yi raised an eyebrow in displeasure.
"If Grandpa knew you'd been kidnapped, they would have vanished from this city long ago. Since I've made a promise to you, I will keep it."
"promise?"
Su Xiaoxiao was a little slow to realize it, but Nangong Yi nodded seriously.
"Grandpa won't interfere in our private lives, but he won't stand idly by if it involves the reputation of the Nangong family."
After saying that, he left the dining table.
However, he stopped after taking only a few steps, looked at Su Xiaoxiao's uneasy expression, and said casually, "Grandpa doesn't know about your job, but he often visits the conglomerate. If you want to keep a low profile, be prepared. Also, Grandpa has already gone back!"
"Grandpa went back, which means we don't need to..."
