Su Xiaoxiao was just making up an excuse for the 'conflict' between the two, but she didn't expect Nangong Yi to actually make a phone call in the bedroom.
When she saw him come out of the bedroom, she quickly followed behind Nangong Cang and carefully made a gesture to him.
However, Nangong Yi completely ignored it.
When he walked to his grandfather's side, the concern in his eyes was immediately evident.
"Grandpa, is your throat bothering you again?"
"I'm fine. Remember to have Junhao come over for dinner tomorrow. Grandpa needs to trouble him with something."
Nangong Cang's complexion returned to normal in an instant. He patted Nangong Yi on the shoulder, signaling the couple to go back to their room to rest.
"It's just an old ailment, don't worry about it, cough cough cough—"
"Grandpa, do you have a cold?"
Su Xiaoxiao noticed that Nangong Cang suddenly started coughing incessantly. She had just heard Nangong Yi say that he had a sore throat.
"Grandpa has a chronic respiratory problem, so there's no need to make a fuss. Go back to your room and rest."
“Respiratory problems, my grandfather had them too.”
Su Xiaoxiao murmured softly, and the image of her grandfather immediately appeared in her mind. When she thought of him lying in the hospital room with an unknown condition, her eyes immediately reddened.
"Xiaoxiao, what's wrong?"
Nangong Cang didn't hear her murmurs, but noticing her strange expression, he immediately gave his grandson a look.
“Grandpa, I’m fine. I was just thinking that a good friend of mine had a grandpa who was just like you, always coughing at night. I taught her how to make pear syrup for her grandpa, and he’s gotten much better. You should go upstairs and rest. I’ll go to the kitchen and quickly make you some pear juice, and then I’ll make you pear syrup tomorrow.”
Su Xiaoxiao was afraid they would notice something was wrong, so she ran downstairs immediately after she finished speaking.
She knew nothing about cooking, but for her grandfather's health, she specially learned how to make pear syrup.
But what she didn't notice was that as she turned and ran away, Nangong Yi's expression suddenly turned ugly...
kitchen.
After Su Xiaoxiao ran into the kitchen, she immediately panicked. She forgot all about taking deep breaths and staying calm. She just hid behind the kitchen door and silently shed tears.
After escorting her grandfather back to his room, Nangong Yi came down to check on him, still feeling a bit uneasy.
When he heard faint sobbing at the kitchen door, his brow furrowed immediately, but he did not go in right away.
After being sad for a while, Su Xiaoxiao gradually calmed down.
Just as she was preparing to stew the pears, she noticed a figure at the kitchen doorway.
Who's there?
There was no answer from outside the door, but Su Xiaoxiao noticed that a figure moved slightly towards the door.
As if she suddenly realized something, she continued with her work without paying any attention.
Nangong Yi carefully hid by the door. Ever since he heard Su Xiaoxiao crying, he had felt that something was wrong.
Seeing her skillful stewing of pears, he found the person in front of him increasingly suspicious.
Time passed second by second.
Su Xiaoxiao was busy in the kitchen for two whole hours, and she also noticed that the person at the door had been patiently watching her for so long.
Regardless of what Nangong Yi was guarding against, she deliberately poured two extra cups of pear juice after she finished making it.
"Nangong Yi, since you're so worried, could you please take the pear juice to Grandpa's room?"
As he walked in with an icy expression, Su Xiaoxiao immediately handed him one of the cups, saying, "This cup is for you to drink, so you won't suspect that I drugged Grandpa."
Nangong Yi did not suspect her, but he still took the pear juice and drank it.
"Go to your room and wait for me, I have something to tell you!"
