Chapter Forty-Seven: Want to marry someone else? Not so fast!
Once the person is chosen, the rest is easy.
With time running out and the task at hand, General Wang immediately instructed his steward to purchase the items needed for the wedding.
Then he sent someone with Wang Xi and Zeng Pei's birth dates and times to a fortune teller to find the nearest auspicious day, the sooner the better.
After all that commotion, it was getting dark.
Wang Xi invited her to have dinner at the mansion, and Shen Tang thought about it and realized that it had been a long time since she had seen her, so she decided to spend more time with her and did not refuse.
Wang Xi was instructed to send someone to inform Meng Huaiyan that she would not be returning for dinner tonight.
When Meng Huaiyan heard that she wouldn't be coming back for dinner, he didn't show anything on his face, but Qingyang still sensed that the young master was somewhat displeased.
Meng Huaiyan finished his meal alone and then dealt with some official business. Shen Tang still hadn't returned.
Qingyang felt a chill run down his spine as he watched the prince's face grow increasingly dark.
When Shen Tang returned from the Prince's mansion, it was almost 11 PM. Seeing Meng Huaiyan still sitting in his chair, she asked in surprise, "Why aren't you asleep yet?"
Meng Huaiyan glanced at her indifferently: "Waiting for you."
"Why are you waiting for me? Just go to sleep."
Meng Huaiyan fell silent.
Shen Tang was exhausted after a long day and just wanted to wash up and rest, so she didn't notice that Meng Huaiyan was unhappy.
As soon as Shen Tang finished washing up and climbed into bed, Meng Huaiyan pulled her into his arms and skillfully massaged her lower abdomen with his large hand.
Although Shen Tang felt a little uncomfortable during her period today, it wasn't to the point of pain.
However, Meng Huaiyan's palms were warm and comfortable on her lower abdomen. Since there was a free human hot water bottle, she might as well use it.
Shen Tang sighed comfortably and mumbled to Meng Huaiyan, "Aren't you supposed to attend the morning court session tomorrow? Go to sleep."
Meng Huaiyan looked at Shen Tang, who had fallen asleep in an instant, and felt somewhat annoyed.
He leaned down and gave her a light bite on the lips: "You heartless bastard!"

Yongning Marquis's Mansion
After his unpleasant encounter with Wang Xi last time, Jiang Congyu arranged for secret guards to keep an eye on the Wang family's every move.
He also informed the gatekeeper that if anyone from the Prince's Mansion came during this period, he should report to him immediately.
He originally thought that Wang Xi was angry that day, which is why she said such resolute words.
Once she calms down, she'll naturally regret it.
If she showed even a hint of regret, he wouldn't necessarily be unable to forgive her and give her a way out.
But Wang Xi was incredibly patient. He waited and waited, but there was still no movement after more than a month, and he started to get a little anxious.
Finally, today, the secret guards brought news that Wang Xi was getting married.
Jiang Congyu suspected there was something wrong with his ears, otherwise how could he have heard such absurd news?
After confirming with the guards that he hadn't misheard, Jiang Congyu's forehead veins bulged with anger, his eyes turned bloodshot, and he felt like he was about to explode with rage.
She was pregnant with his child, but then she turned around and married someone else, putting such a huge green hat on his head.
She despised him so much that she would rather marry an unknown lowly soldier than look down on him, the legitimate son of a marquis.
Well done, Wang Xi! You've got guts!
Jiang Congyu angrily threw everything on the table to the ground, and the sound of objects hitting the floor echoed in the room, sounding somewhat eerie in the quiet night.
The guard knelt on the ground, terrified by the young marquis's anger, sweating profusely and not daring to utter a sound.
He had been by the young marquis's side for over ten years. He was always approachable and easy to get angry with, and he treated his subordinates kindly.
This was the first time he had ever seen the young marquis so angry.
But then he thought about how his woman was pregnant, yet she was to marry another man. No man could bear such humiliation.
A deep sense of sympathy for the young marquis welled up in my heart.
Despite his outburst of anger, Jiang Congyu still couldn't vent his frustration.
Feeling short of breath, Jiang Congyu reached out and ripped open his collar, bracing himself on the table with his hands, his eyes filled with gloom.
Jiang Congyu came from a noble family and was of high status. Although his talent was not as great as Meng Huaiyan's, he was still quite famous in the capital.
The line of people wanting to marry into the Jiang family stretched from east street to west street.
It's just that this Wang Xi dares to despise him to this extent!
The more Jiang Congyu thought about it, the hotter his anger became. He could no longer hold back and strode towards Jinxiu Residence.
You dislike him, don't you? You want to marry someone else, don't you?
He just wouldn't do as she wanted!
Madam Jiang was almost asleep when she suddenly heard a servant announce that Jiang Congyu had arrived. Judging from the servant's tone, it seemed to be urgent; she absolutely had to see him that night.
Madame Chiang sighed helplessly and had no choice but to change her clothes and go out.
As soon as I reached the entrance to the hall, I was surprised to see my son rushing around inside.
Her son, while not necessarily a very stable person, rarely lost his composure like this.
"What happened?"
As soon as Jiang Congyu saw him arrive, he stepped forward and took her arm, suppressing his anger as he said, "Mother, I request to marry the eldest daughter of the Wang family. Please go and propose marriage on my behalf."
"Oh dear." Upon hearing her son's words, Madam Jiang immediately beamed with joy.
She put a lot of thought into her son's marriage, and had previously shown him many portraits of noble ladies in the capital.
He'd complain that this person was too fat, or that person was too thin; one minute he'd say he didn't like this one because of a mole on their forehead, and the next he'd say that person was too quiet and boring.
Anyway, they could always find fault with him. After several times, Madame Chiang's enthusiasm was dampened, and she couldn't be bothered with him anymore.
But to my surprise, tonight this old iron tree finally blossomed.
Madame Chiang paced and sat down in a chair. She had met this eldest daughter of the Wang family a few times and had some impression of her.
It's just unknown how the two of them came to meet and developed feelings for each other.
"This eldest daughter of the Wang family has a decent family background, and she's quite good-looking, but her personality..."
Seeing that his mother was still leisurely probing Wang Xi's personality, Jiang Congyu interrupted her in a hurry.
"Mother, don't worry about her temperament. If you don't propose marriage soon, your grandson will be calling someone else 'Dad'!"
Madame Chiang Kai-shek: "!!!!!!!!!"
