Chapter 50 Meng Huaiyan is Jealous
Chapter 50 Meng Huaiyan is Jealous
When Meng Huaiyan woke up the next day, he felt refreshed and satisfied, having shaken off the pent-up frustration of the past few days.
He became much more adept at handling official business, and even his incompetent subordinates seemed more agreeable to him.
Those subordinates were all shrewd people. Seeing that Meng Huaiyan's eyebrows were full of pleasure today, they could tell that he was in a good mood.
He quickly took the difficult official business that he usually dared not present and submitted it, and as expected, he was not scolded.
The other subordinate officials followed suit, and soon the memorials on Meng Huaiyan's table piled up like a mountain.
By the time Meng Huaiyan finished his work and returned home, it was already midnight, and Shen Tang was already asleep.
After washing up, Meng Huaiyan climbed into bed and leaned over to kiss the lips he had been longing for all day.
Shen Tang was sleeping soundly when she vaguely felt her breath being stolen. Just as she was about to speak, Meng Huaiyan's soft bed door opened.
Shen Tang was extremely annoyed and struggled wildly with her hands, accidentally slapping him across the face.
It wasn't heavy, but the sound was quite loud, and Shen Tang woke up from her drowsiness immediately.
Meng Huaiyan was also stopped in his tracks by the sudden slap, his dark eyes staring intently at her.
Shen Tang's breathing tightened, and her heart jumped into her throat.
The next moment, Meng Huaiyan grabbed her hand and pressed it against the other side of her face where she had been hit, his voice hoarse: "Should we do it here too?"
"???"
Shen Tang froze on the spot.
Seeing that she didn't speak, Meng Huaiyan's eyes were full of smiles as he asked, "Aren't you going to fight?"
"If you don't pay, I'll start charging interest."
Without giving Shen Tang a chance to react, she leaned in and kissed him.
The room was filled with enchanting beauty, even the moonlight seemed to shyly hide behind the clouds.
Shen Tang had no idea where Meng Huaiyan got such good energy.
He stayed up so late last night, and got up early this morning to go to court. After a busy day, he still had the energy to cause trouble for her.
Shen Tang couldn't help but curse inwardly, how come his official duties hadn't killed him!

Meng Huaiyan didn't have much official business today; he finished by Shenshi (3-5 PM) and was just in time to go home and have dinner with Shentang.
Just as I left the government office, I unexpectedly encountered someone I never thought I would meet.
It was He Jinzhou.
Not knowing what they had lost, he and his servant anxiously searched for it on the road in front of the government office.
The moment Meng Huaiyan saw him, he was reminded of his past with Shen Tang. This person was like a thorn in his heart.
It made him wish he could get rid of it as soon as possible whenever he thought about it.
If it weren't for him seducing Shen Tang, how could Shen Tang have changed her mind?
Although Shen Tang is by his side now, he knows that she doesn't care about him at all.
He deliberately tried to escape this fact, to numb himself, thinking that at least she was by his side.
But people are always greedy. Once they get something, they want more. They want her heart, they want her to only have eyes for them.
In the dead of night, whenever he thought about the place he held in Shen Tang's heart, jealousy burned his reason like a bone-deep affliction.
Meng Huaiyan stared at He Jinzhou with a gloomy expression. If only he had disappeared...
If he disappears...
Meng Huaiyan abruptly closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and suppressed the dark thoughts in his heart.
Shen Tang would definitely be angry if he found out, and he didn't want to make her unhappy.
Meng Huaiyan's gaze was too sharp, and He Jinzhou noticed it. He turned around, saw that it was him, and bowed to him, saying, "This humble official greets Lord Meng."
Meng Huaiyan gave a curt "hmm" in return and was about to leave when he heard He Jinzhou's servant shout excitedly, "Young master, the purse has been found!"
Meng Huaiyan subconsciously looked up and saw a light blue purse with dark patterns, embroidered with bamboo, and a small begonia flower in the lower right corner of the bamboo.
In Meng Huaiyan's eyes, the workmanship and embroidery of the purse could be described as crude and shoddy; he wouldn't have given it a second glance under normal circumstances.
But now his eyes were fixed on the purse, his expression unreadable: "Lord He's purse is quite unique?"
He Jinzhou quickly tucked the purse into his sleeve and said to him, "It's just an ordinary purse."
Meng Huaiyan: "Oh, I really like it. Where did you buy it, Lord He? I want to buy one too."
He Jinzhou's heart tightened suddenly: "I just bought it from a random jewelry shop, I don't remember it very well."
"oh."
Meng Huaiyan gave him a gloomy look, then turned and got into the carriage and left.

Meng Huaiyan seemed a little unhappy today, and Shen Tang noticed it at the dinner table.
But when asked, he said nothing was wrong.
Shen Tang didn't bother with her anymore, but unexpectedly, after the meal, Meng Huaiyan brought over a large piece of cloth and handed it to her.
Shen Tang was somewhat puzzled: "What?"
Meng Huaiyan placed the cloth on the table and said in a nonchalant tone, "Embroider a purse for me."
Shen Tang's embroidery skills were poor to begin with, and this kind of thing is time-consuming and laborious. After all that effort, the finished product is still not very good-looking. With that kind of time, she could have bought many nice purses.
Shen Tang had no desire to embroider and frowned as she refused.
Meng Huaiyan looked at her with icy eyes, his tone questioning: "Is it that you don't want to? Or that you simply don't want to?"
Hearing his questioning tone, Shen Tang's expression also darkened. She wondered what had gotten into Meng Huaiyan today, that he suddenly wanted her to embroider a purse.
Shen Tang suppressed her temper: "My embroidery skills are not good, and the ones I embroider are not pretty. Since you want a purse, why don't you just buy one?"
Meng Huaiyan persisted, "But I want the one you embroidered."
Shen Tang's temper flared up, and she retorted, "I already said I don't want to embroider!"
Ayun and Qiao'er didn't expect the two to suddenly start arguing. They looked at each other, then quickly lowered their heads and quietly retreated.
Meng Huaiyan looked at her with an inscrutable expression for a while, then suddenly said, "So, if He Jinzhou wants it, you'll embroider it for him, but if I want it, you don't want it?"
Upon suddenly hearing He Jinzhou's name, Shen Tang looked dazed for a moment, then stammered, "How did you know?"
He quickly pressed on, "Did you see him today?"
No wonder he's in a bad mood today.
Meng Huaiyan didn't answer her question, but said sarcastically, "You seem to care about him."
Shen Tang: "......"
I'm fed up. Every time He Jinzhou is involved, she can't communicate with him at all.
Meng Huaiyan is too petty, especially regarding He Jinzhou. Shen Tang doesn't want to offend him and cause trouble for He Jinzhou.
She had no choice but to suppress her anger and coax him, "I'm not concerned about him, but I need to know why you're unhappy today."
"Since it's about the purse, I'll embroider one for you."
Although Shen Tang agreed, Meng Huaiyan was not happy at all.
She didn't genuinely want to embroider a sachet for him; she only reluctantly agreed because she was afraid he would cause trouble for He Jinzhou.
The more Meng Huaiyan thought about it, the more he couldn't suppress his anger, and by the afternoon, the thought of suppressing it suddenly surged again.
Seeing his expression, Shen Tang's heart pounded wildly.
She quickly stepped forward and put her arm around his waist, her voice gentle and coaxing: "What style of purse do you want? How about I embroider orchids on it for you?"
The unique fragrance emanating from Shen Tang wafted into his nose as she embraced him.
Meng Huaiyan's body stiffened, but in an instant, the ferocity in his eyes vanished. He reached out and hugged her tightly, holding her close to his chest.
A bittersweet feeling welled up inside him, and he thought sadly, "So be it, so be it."
As long as she's by his side and doesn't leave him, that's enough. He doesn't dare ask for anything more.
He gently nuzzled his head against her neck and said, "I want to add another crabapple blossom on top."
Shen Tang: "Okay."
