Chapter 29 Are you trying to imprison me?
Chapter Twenty-Nine: Are you trying to imprison me?
Although Ayun said that He Jinzhou had returned home safely, she was still a little worried.
More than anything, she wanted to see him. If it weren't for her, he wouldn't have suffered this undeserved misfortune.
She wanted to say sorry to him in person.
I never expected that I would be stopped at the gate when I went out the next day.
The person before me was dressed in black, with a solemn expression, and his tone was respectful yet carried an air of unyielding authority.
"Miss Shen, the young master has instructed that you are not allowed to leave your home these days."
Shen Tang looked up and saw the woman who had saved her during the assassination attempt at Zhenru Temple.
She remembered that her name was Youlan.
After all, she was the one who had saved her life, and she didn't want things to get too ugly with her. However, she was already in a bad mood, and now she was being stopped at the door when she went out, so her words inevitably carried anger.
"What right does he have to restrict my freedom? I'm not his prisoner!"
"Get out of my way!"
Youlan ignored her words and coldly replied, "I am afraid I cannot comply. Please do not make things difficult for me, Miss Shen."
Am I in a difficult position?
Shen Tang was so angry she almost fainted. She didn't want to argue with her and just wanted to leave.
But Youlan stood in her way like a mountain.
No matter what she did, there was nothing they could do about it.
In the end, naturally, they didn't manage to leave.
Shen Tang stormed off to Qingyun Courtyard, determined to demand an explanation from Meng Huaiyan, but forgot that he was on duty and ended up missing him.
Shen Tang stood in the courtyard, her breath caught in her throat, unable to rise or fall, her face turning red with anger.
Seeing Shen Tang's furious expression, Qing Yang glanced at the aloof You Lan beside him.
He knew that the Crown Prince had ordered Miss Shen not to go out, so it seemed that he had come to settle accounts with the Crown Prince.
With a forced smile, Qingyang cautiously suggested, "Miss Chen, why don't you go to the study and wait for the young master?"
"No need." Shen Tang frowned. Seeing the study reminded her of what had happened a few days ago, and she subconsciously rejected the place. She didn't want to stay there for even a moment unless absolutely necessary.
"I'll come over when he gets back," Shen Tang said, then turned and left.
Shen Tang waited until 9 PM, just as she was about to go to bed, when she heard a servant say that Meng Huaiyan had arrived.
He quickly got up, tidied himself up, and headed to the main room.
Meng Huaiyan was really busy today. He had just finished his work and arrived at the mansion when Qingyang told him that Shen Tang was looking for him.
Afraid that she would get impatient, he rushed over to her without even having time to change out of his official robes.
Shen Tang must be about to fall asleep. Her face was unadorned, and her black hair was loosely tied into a bun with a simple wooden hairpin.
A few strands of hair fell beside her cheeks, adding a touch of gentle grace in the candlelight.
Meng Huaiyan's heart stirred, and his eyes unconsciously softened: "I heard from Qingyang that you were looking for me?"
Shen Tang waited all night, and her anger finally exploded the moment she saw him.
Filled with anger, she hurled accusations and questions at Meng Huaiyan without hesitation: "Meng Huaiyan, what right do you have to stop me from leaving?!"
Meng Huaiyan's lips tightened, and the gentleness in his eyes vanished instantly: "You came to see me for this?"
"Otherwise, what is it for?" Shen Tang found it incomprehensible.
Meng Huaiyan didn't speak, only looked at her with his dark eyes.
Shen Tang was a little scared by his gaze, but since it was clearly his fault today, she instantly regained her confidence.
"I'm talking to you, what right do you have to stop me? I'm not your prisoner!"
"Things have been a bit turbulent outside lately, this is just for your safety."
They really care about her.
Shen Tang sneered: "Sounds grand, but whether it's for my safety or something else, you know the answer in your heart!"
Meng Huaiyan's face darkened: "Then tell me, what is my purpose?"
"you……"
Shen Tang wanted to say, "You just don't want me to go to He Jinzhou," but seeing his gloomy face, she ultimately couldn't bring herself to say it.
"Why did you stop talking?" Meng Huaiyan moved closer to him. "What was my reason?"
Shen Tang subconsciously took a few steps back, and Meng Huaiyan's rationality completely snapped because of her action.
He stepped forward, grabbed her wrist, and pulled her fiercely in front of him. Shen Tang stumbled and fell into his arms.
Meng Huaiyan held her waist tightly: "Why do you always try to hide? Am I that scary? What's so great about He Jinzhou that you want to see him so much!"
Shen Tang was initially a little scared, but when she heard him mention He Jinzhou, she couldn't suppress her anger: "So what if I want to see him! If it weren't for you, I wouldn't be with him..."
"Mmm...mmm..."
Meng Huaiyan's kiss, filled with anger, landed heavily, so forcefully it seemed he wanted to devour her whole. A distinct stinging sensation came from her lips, and Shen Tang winced in pain, turning her head and pushing him away forcefully.
Meng Huaiyan's eyes burned with even more malice at her rejection. He grabbed both of her hands with one hand and slammed her against the wall.
Shen Tang cried out in fright, and the next moment, Meng Huaiyan's kisses rained down on her like a storm.
His soft tongue pried open her lips and teeth without any hesitation, hooking them and sucking and intertwining.
The kiss was devoid of any tenderness, filled with anger and aggression, as if it wanted to crush her to pieces.
Her soft chest ached from the friction against his hard chest, tears welled up and streamed down her face, and her breath was completely taken away. Shen Tang gradually felt short of breath.
Finally, Meng Huaiyan released her, and Shen Tang turned her head to breathe in the fresh air, her chest heaving violently.
Meng Huaiyan's icy words rang in my ears: "You'll never see him again in your life!"
Shen Tang had feared him, loved him, and resented him, but she had never hated him.
But now, looking at the face in front of her, she felt hatred for the first time.
Shen Tang glared at him: "So, are you planning to put me under house arrest now?"
Meng Huaiyan pursed his lips, his eyes filled with coldness.
"I didn't want to either, but you've been so naughty."
Shen Tang's face paled as she suddenly recalled the fate of being imprisoned in the courtyard by him in her previous life. A chill ran down her spine, and a hint of bloodlust appeared in her eyes.
Fear surged through her like a tidal wave, her heart pounded violently, she felt her body trembling, she was covered in cold sweat, and her breathing became rapid and frantic.
"What’s wrong with you?!"
The coldness around Meng Huaiyan vanished instantly, and he wanted to step forward with concern.
Shen Tang suddenly pulled the hairpin out of her hair and held it against her neck: "Don't come any closer!"
Shen Tang's eyes were bloodshot, and she was in a state of near madness. The sharp hairpin pierced her skin, and bright red blood dripped from her neck, staining her clothes, which was quite shocking.
Meng Huaiyan stood there, his eyes stinging from the sight of that bright red.
"Is he that important? So important that you'd hurt yourself?!"
Shen Tang's eyes flashed with hatred and determination: "I want to see him!"
"You've already broken off the engagement!"
"I said, I want to see him!"
Shen Tang pushed the hairpin in an inch further, and blood gushed out. She seemed oblivious to the pain, her bloodshot eyes glaring coldly at him.
A strange, subtle pain welled up in his heart, and Meng Huaiyan's eyes darkened. He didn't want to admit that he felt an unspeakable jealousy towards someone as inferior as He Jinzhou.
He really wanted to kill him.
Shen Tang's hateful and resolute gaze was like a sharp knife piercing his heart. A feeling of being unable to grasp it suddenly surged into his heart, making him feel helpless for the first time.
In the quiet night, the two faced off in silence, and no one knew how long it had been.
In the end, Meng Huaiyan turned his gaze away and chose to back down.
"Okay, I'll let you see him."
