Chapter 111 Reporting the Crime

Once the Sun family members left, their arrogant attitude became somewhat subdued.

Sun Xiaoju's mother pointed at her daughter's head and said, "What's wrong with you? Didn't you say he got his way? Why isn't there any blood?"

Seeing her mother say this, Sun Xiaoju said somewhat embarrassedly, "Mother, I don't know what 'fallen blood' means."

Sun Xiaoju's mother angrily slapped her a few times, "You brat, you don't even understand this much, what use are you?"

Sun Xiaoju cried out in pain as she was beaten. Her sister-in-law said, "Alright, Mother, don't hurt your sister. We're still waiting for her to marry into the Guan family and get some money."

“That’s right, who’s going to get money for us if you hurt your sister?” Sun Xiaoju’s older brother also complained, and only then did Sun Xiaoju’s mother let her go.

"Oh, I was just brushing some dust off her clothes, that's not how I hit her." He then glared at her fiercely.

"Xiaohua, go back now. Remember, your brother is in our house. If he dares to say anything out of line, I'll beat him to death."

Sun Xiaohua glanced at Sun Xiaoju, "What about my cousin?"

“Your cousin is destined to be a rich wife, so you don’t need to worry about her.”

Sun Xiaoju didn't want to go back, so she said, "Mother, why don't I go back with Xiaohua? That will be part of our family's property, and I can keep an eye on it."

"Yes, yes, Xiaoju is right. Then go ahead, lest those blind fools swallow our things."

The eldest sister-in-law of the Sun family was so happy, it was as if the property had already become part of the Sun family's business.

"Once Xiaoju gets married, we'll have the Guan family give Chunhui Tower to our family. We'll put your eldest grandson's name on it, and then you can enjoy a life of happiness with us, Mother."

These words made Sun Xiaoju's mother laugh heartily, "My eldest grandson is a lucky man."

They left laughing and joking, but Sun Xiaohua was a little worried looking at her uncle Sun's family, who seemed completely bewildered.

"Cousin, how could you do this?"

Sun Xiaoju looked at her with disdain, "What, are you jealous of me? Let me tell you, you better behave yourself, or I'll kick you out as soon as possible."

After saying that, she twisted her body and got into the carriage. When Sun Xiaohua got on, she complained, "I'll reluctantly let you come with me now, but when I become a concubine, you can't come with me."

As soon as Sun Xiaoju returned to the restaurant, she started acting like the owner.

She stopped wearing the uniform and started walking around the restaurant like a hostess.

Seeing that no one was saying anything to her, she became even more high-profile.

Even though she couldn't understand the shopkeeper's accounting, she still instructed Yifan, saying, "The shopkeeper is doing a good job, keep up the good work."

If the shopkeeper hadn't received orders from Guan Chang, he would have thrown her out long ago.

Back in the dorm that night, I got into an argument with a few older women. “Let me tell you,” I said, “once I become the boss, you’d better get out of here.”

A slightly plump middle-aged woman stood with her hands on her hips and cursed, "Shameless thing, thinking you can marry into the family just by sleeping with someone? Dream on!"

When Sun Xiaoju heard that the woman claimed to be a woman who climbed into someone else's bed, she got so angry that she started fighting with the old woman, and her face was scratched several times.

The rest of the Sun family went to the Su family every day to make trouble, asking for nothing else but to have Guan Chang take Sun Xiaoju as a concubine.

When the Su family ignored them, they went directly to Chunhui Tower and made a scene at the entrance.

"Everyone come and see! The owner of Chunhui Restaurant is a scoundrel! He defiled my daughter and then refused to acknowledge it, almost causing her death!"

Those who came in to eat, and those eating crayfish next door, all watched from the side, wondering, "What's going on?"

Shh, they're watching the show.

Especially for those who eat crayfish, they would bring stools and tables to the front of the door and listen while peeling the crayfish.

"What are you doing? If you don't leave, I'm going to report you to the authorities!" The shopkeeper came out to shoo them away, and Sun Xiaoju's mother plopped down at the door, slapping her thigh and wailing.

"This is outrageous! Chunhui Tower is bullying us! Help!"

Many female customers couldn't bear to see it, saying, "I never expected Chunhuilou to be like this. I'll never eat there again."

"Yeah, he looks all respectable, I never expected him to do something like this."

The shopkeeper wasn't guilty at all and quietly watched them make a scene. Before long, several soldiers arrived.

"Who is causing trouble here?"

Su Wan came out of the kitchen. "Sir, it was this woman who reported this. She said my husband bullied her daughter, who works as a waitress in a restaurant. She refused to report it to the police, saying she only wanted to be my husband's concubine."

“A woman’s reputation is of utmost importance. How could we not report it to the authorities? So I took it upon myself to report it to the authorities and ask the officials to clear her name.”

After Su Wan finished speaking, she saw that Sun Xiaoju's mother was visibly flustered, and she calmed down after being pulled by her sister-in-law.

"Is it as she said?" the officer asked.

The eldest sister-in-law of the Sun family smiled obsequiously, "Yes, sir. We didn't report it because we were afraid of causing you trouble. We thought we could settle it privately."

Su Wan disagreed, saying, "How can this be resolved privately? I'm the first to disagree. As a woman, reputation is of utmost importance. How can we let a young lady suffer such injustice? Don't you all agree?"

The onlookers agreed, "That's right, the mistress of the house is truly kind and righteous."

"Yes, a woman's reputation is of utmost importance; it cannot be taken lightly."

The soldiers shouted inside, "Where is your husband? Tell him to come out."

Guan Chang stepped forward from the side and said, "My lord, I am Guan Chang."

The officers nodded in satisfaction. "Let's also take the victim to the hospital. If it's true, we'll definitely give her justice."

At this moment, Sun Xiaoju was still sitting in the lounge on the third floor drinking tea, completely unaware of what was happening outside. It was only when Sun Xiaohua came to call her that she learned about it.

She was wearing a pink gauze dress, which she had bought with her monthly allowance, and she also had a silver hairpin and several pearl flowers in her hair.

When she got to the door and saw so many people, she started to panic. She ran to her mother, "Mom, what's going on?"

The officers said, "You must be Sun Xiaoju. Someone reported that you were bullied. We want to ask you about some things. Come with us."

Sun Xiaoju didn't want to go. She looked at Guan Chang and said, "Brother Guan, I didn't report the case. I know you like me and didn't mean to bully me."

Su Wan couldn't stand it anymore and said, "I reported the case. If Miss Sun was really bullied, what's wrong with locking him up for ten or eight years?"

Those watching the commotion immediately recognized Sun Xiaoju's appearance and knew what had happened. "Judging from the girl's appearance and attire, she doesn't seem like someone who has been bullied."

"Could it be that he's trying to sleep with his employer?"

Another person said, "That Guan Dong family is really pitiful. They kindly offered the woman a job at the restaurant, but they ended up being tricked."

Sun Xiaoju's face turned pale. Her sister-in-law said, "If we don't go, who knows if the Guan family is in cahoots with the soldiers?"

Upon hearing this, the officers stepped forward and glared at her fiercely. "How dare you question our handling of the case? Take her away."

After everyone left, Su Wan bowed slightly to them and said, "I apologize for disturbing you all. Today, all meals will be half price. As for the outcome of this matter, it will be posted at the entrance of the restaurant later so that everyone can know. If it is indeed my husband's fault, I am willing to sell Chunhui Restaurant and donate all the money to charity. I mean what I say."

Okay, we'll wait and see.
