Chapter 218 A Wasteland (Part 4)

The city of Xiangcheng was a scene of ruins, with dead and injured refugees everywhere. The sight of blood red and yellow earth was overwhelming for Jiang Wan and Cheng Zhen.

Cheng Zhen found Lao Chen, who was standing in the middle of ruins. In front of him was a deep sinkhole, and there were many refugees on the other side of the sinkhole. He tried to find tools to cross the sinkhole and rescue them.

When they arrived, there was another sudden earthquake, and the distance between him and the refugees widened even further.

The women and children erupted in waves of desperate screams, and even the men were no longer calm, frantically shouting, "Help!"

"Help me!"

"Help me!"

Old Chen looked around, seemingly weighing the situation, then took a few steps back and made a jumping motion!

"Old Chen!"

Cheng Zhen rushed over instantly, suppressing his impulse to take the risk, "You take me there, I'll go!"

When Old Chen saw him, he felt relieved. The two people with the ability to create portals through time and space worked together to rescue the refugees from this natural disaster.

Jiang Wan couldn't help, so she searched for any usable resources nearby. This area was a hardware and electrical market with many different kinds of tools. She picked out the ones that were useful and put them into her space. As expected, she also got a batch of high-powered generators.

There were also some emergency rescue tents, all buried in the ruins. Fortunately, she could put them directly into her space, so she didn't have to go through all the trouble of digging them out. After walking around, she had a pretty good haul.

But apart from that, there was no food or water at all.

"Jiang Wan?"

A familiar voice suddenly rang out behind her. She turned around and narrowed her eyes. What a coincidence!

The person who came was none other than Yu Tongguang!

Behind him was a sizable group, likely people from the inner city, fleeing together.

Ha, these people are really lucky to be alive!

She saw familiar faces: Zhou Qingshen, Zhao Xiaojun, and Lian Chuan, but she didn't greet them or even glance at Yu Tongguang. With her hands in her pockets, she strolled forward unhurriedly.

Yu Tongguang immediately felt embarrassed, especially at this moment. Because he had saved Lord Bi and the others, he was now highly valued, so Jiang Wan's attitude made him instantly unhappy.

“Jiang Wan, we’re leaving here. If you agree to serve Lord Bi from now on, I can make the decision right now to take you with me and give you a place to shelter from the wind and rain.”

He was arrogant and domineering. When he said these words and made this decision, he didn't take Lord Bi, who was standing behind him, seriously at all. He treated Jiang Wan with a completely condescending attitude.

Jiang Wan pretended not to hear and walked straight ahead.

Suddenly, a person darted out from the side. He intended to rush towards Yu Tongguang for help, but was pushed by Yu Tongguang and stumbled towards Jiang Wan.

Jiang Wan had her back to them and was completely unaware of everything. The refugee posed no threat, so her rattan bracelet did not trigger her passive skill. She was knocked to the ground and staggered forward two steps.

She turned around abruptly, intending to teach this blind man a lesson, but suddenly froze. The person in front of her looked very familiar. Where had she seen him before?

The man was also startled. He had just crawled out of the rubble and heard that there were superhumans outside who were there to rescue them and move them to a safe place.

So when I got here, I subconsciously assumed that the people who were rescuing me were Yu Tongguang and his group!

After all, they were the only ones who looked neat and tidy, and didn't look like refugees at all!

When he lunged forward, he never expected that Yu Tongguang would push him away so ruthlessly, even with a murderous look on his face, causing him to accidentally involve others. Fortunately, he stopped in time and avoided making a serious mistake.

He was about to apologize when he was shocked to see who he had bumped into!

Holy crap!

Isn't this the woman who took half of his warehouse's oxygen cylinders before the oxygen-deficient apocalypse?!

He involuntarily raised his hand, pointing at her: "You, you, you..."

Yu Tongguang was extremely impatient with these refugees and shoved him hard, saying, "Get out of here! Is this a place for people like you to stay? Get out of here!"

The man originally wanted to tell him about Jiang Wan's special status, such as the large number of oxygen cylinders she had, but faced with his extremely disrespectful and dismissive attitude, he subconsciously shut his mouth.

In that instant, Jiang Wan suddenly realized who this man was!

It was the boss who sold her the oxygen cylinder back then!

The man's wary gaze fell on Yu Tongguang and the others, clearly hesitating whether to ask them for help. Jiang Wan suddenly stopped him, laughing happily, "Big brother! I've finally found you! I'm so glad you're alright!"

The man was taken aback and looked at Jiang Wan with a puzzled expression.

"Brother, do you have nowhere to stay now? Come with me. What about your wife? Are they all alright?"

Jiang Wan made up a story on the spot, then reached out and pushed him, taking him away from Yu Tongguang and the others.

Behind them, Yu Tongguang's face was so dark it looked like he was about to stab someone. Just then, the ground shook violently again, and cracks appeared in the previously smooth ground. City Lord Bi panicked and urged from behind:

"Hurry up and go! What are you dawdling about here for? Are you trying to get me killed?"

Yu Tongguang's eyes darkened for a moment, but he didn't say anything and took the lead in walking forward.

Jiang Wan led the man to a secluded spot, close to Cheng Zhen and the others, and asked him, "What's your name?"

"Zhao Gang."

Zhao Gang's feelings toward Jiang Wan were somewhat complicated. If it weren't for her friendly reminder, he wouldn't have thought of hiding some of the oxygen cylinders. However, he didn't believe her at the time, so after receiving the money from her in his bank account, he didn't take it seriously and use it to buy supplies. As a result, after the oxygen-deficient apocalypse, he felt deep regret every time he thought about it!

He never expected to run into her again. He tentatively asked, "Did you... foresee this day would come?"

Jiang Wan knew he was asking about what happened the day she bought the oxygen cylinders. After thinking for a moment, she replied, "I had a feeling, but I didn't expect it to actually be true."

Zhao Gang gave a wry smile, clearly indicating his disbelief.

Jiang Wan didn't intend to convince him that since it was already an oxygen-deprived apocalypse, the past was no longer the point.

“We are currently living in the wild, far from here, and unaffected by the earthquake. Would you like to come with us?”

She pointed to Cheng Zhen and Lao Chen, who were busy below, and asked him.

"go!"

He agreed almost without hesitation.

"Okay, but you must keep quiet about what happened before."

Just as Jiang Wan was about to call out to Cheng Zhen, her expression suddenly changed drastically. On the side of the ever-widening ravine, Old Chen's body suddenly swayed, and with a tremor, he fell headfirst into the abyss.
