Chapter 365 Apology
"Aren't you surprised to see me, Comrade Lian Chuan?"
Jiang Wan looked at the man in front of her with a calm demeanor, crossed her arms, and walked gracefully in front of him, blocking their way out.
Lian Chuan stared at her blankly for a long time, then suddenly smiled with relief: "You're not dead? Good."
He grabbed Lian Jiaojiao, signaling her to calm down and not make a fuss. He looked at her warningly and said in a low voice, "Stop making trouble, or come with me if you don't want to die."
Jiang Wan laughed: "I didn't expect you to be so self-aware."
When enemies meet on a narrow path, their eyes are filled with hatred. Jiang Wan didn't consider himself a magnanimous person, so he didn't intend to show any mercy to Lian Chuan.
She instantly conjured a vine and lashed it fiercely at the Lian siblings, causing them to jump up and down in shock.
Lian Chuan hadn't said anything yet, he was just protecting his sister.
Lian Jiaojiao, however, angrily cursed, "You crazy woman!"
"You call me crazy, but don't you ever look in the mirror?"
As they were talking, a second sharp vine whip lashed out towards their faces.
The brother and sister were just ordinary people and had not awakened any special abilities.
Therefore, Jiang Wan's two lashes were unavoidable. The first lash had struck their calves, and now this one was heading straight for their faces.
Lian Chuan was so eager to protect his sister that he could only shield her in his arms and use his own back to bear the force of the vine whip.
Looking at the affectionate way the siblings looked at each other, Jiang Wan couldn't help but curl her lips in a sarcastic smile: "I didn't realize you were so kind-hearted."
The intense stinging pain in his back made Lian Chuan realize that his back must have been ripped open, and he also clearly sensed the intense killing intent emanating from Jiang Wan.
"If you want to kill or torture someone, come at me. Why drag innocent people into this?"
He turned around to face Jiang Wan, displaying a fearless spirit of facing death, yet still carefully protecting his younger sister behind him.
Jiang Wan's vine whip remained undiminished in its power. She held it horizontally in front of Lian Chuan and asked, "I want to know, why did you choose to side with them?"
Although she didn't say it explicitly, both of them knew she was referring to robots.
Lian Chuan had never thought she would still be alive, but after meeting her, he knew he couldn't get past this hurdle.
However, the security of the entire Dragon City is completely controlled by robots. In the short time they have been here, three patrol teams have already passed by.
Even when Jiang Wan unleashed her vine whip to attack them, the robot patrol soldiers stood by, their watchful eyes constantly scanning their surroundings.
Strangely, despite the strong killing intent emanating from Jiang Wan, the robot patrolmen didn't seem to intend to stop or intervene.
Perhaps it was because Jiang Wan withdrew the rattan whip in time?
Lian Chuan's heart sank further, and when he looked up again, he said, "Come with me, this isn't a good place to talk."
Jiang Wan stood still without moving. Last time, she was careless and lost, and he tricked her. Would she be foolish enough to follow him to a secluded place again this time?
Lian Chuan shrugged indifferently: "It's your own choice to hear it. Actually, it doesn't matter to me whether I tell you or not. Or rather, it's better and safer for me not to tell you."
"Besides, this is already Dragon City, on the robots' territory. Where else could I possibly take you? If I had any malicious intentions, I wouldn't have the ability to do so."
That makes perfect sense. So far, only Cheng Zhen's portal has been able to take her away silently under the robot's surveillance.
Having learned from the first experience, the robots clearly have a more comprehensive strategy for monitoring her and preventing her from escaping. Therefore, once she leaves the Dragon City area, an alarm will definitely be triggered immediately.
Even so, Jiang Wan still refused to go with him to a secluded place: "You can't just take me away quietly, but that doesn't stop me from not trusting you."
She looked around and then chose a corner of the city wall. There was a big tree there, and no buildings around. It was an open area where anyone who approached could be spotted immediately, making it a good place for a relatively private chat.
Lian Chuan had no objection and took the lead, but Lian Jiaojiao was extremely unhappy: "Brother, what do you have to say to her? Let's go and ignore her."
Jiang Wan snorted coldly, and the whip fell at her feet again, threatening, "Shut up now, or I won't hesitate to throw you out of the city to feed the zombies."
Lian Jiaojiao was indeed startled. She shrank back and hid behind Lian Chuan, her expression frightened, yet she stubbornly refused to show weakness.
"Don't scare me. You don't have the ability to get me out of Dragon City."
Jiang Wan smiled leisurely. She didn't have the ability, but that didn't mean she couldn't kill someone. In an instant, she revealed a bloodthirsty smile. The vine whip seemed to have its own consciousness and began to stir in her hand. The barbs on the vine whip seemed to have a target, all of them wrapping around Lian Jiaojiao.
Lian Chuan sighed and reached out to block it. With just that one move, a deep, bone-revealing gash appeared on his arm.
"Alright, Jiaojiao, say no more, if you don't want to die."
If Jiang Wan were to threaten her, Lian Jiaojiao would only be indignant.
But since it was her brother who said it, she could only swallow her anger and try to avoid seeing it, but she still insisted on staying by her brother's side, wanting to hear what they had to say.
Jiang Wan didn't mind him eavesdropping. She walked to the big tree and first whipped the top of the tree with a rattan whip to make sure there was no one hiding in the tree or any listening devices. Then she put away the rattan whip and turned to face Lian Chuan.
"Now you can tell the truth."
"sorry."
Jiang Wan didn't expect that he would start with an apology.
But she merely raised an eyebrow slightly, watching silently to see what other tricks he would pull next.
“I thought Jiaojiao was dead. I had no more attachments in this world. I also wanted to take revenge on everyone, which is why I agreed to the robot’s conditions. As long as I delivered you to them alive, they would guarantee my safety in Dragon City.”
Jiang Wan couldn't help but sneer: "So you've been living in Longcheng for a while now, haven't you? Are you getting used to how cold it is to live in Longcheng?"
Lian Chuan felt ashamed. Of course, he had already seen how lowly humans were in Dragon City, living a life worse than death. As a fellow human, he was naturally indignant.
So, at this moment, I sincerely advised, "I hope you can stay true to yourself and not work for robots."
Jiang Wan raised an eyebrow at him in surprise: "You know these robots want me to work for them?"
Lian Chuan twitched the corner of his mouth: "I didn't know before, but now that you're alive and well, I can guess what happened."
