Chapter 126 What a Bizarre Couple (Part Two)

Did the US troops not go home?

This is where things started to go wrong. The more confusing things became, the more clear-headed Jiang Wan became.

She asked, "Is no one home? You have a key, right? Open the door."

Mi Mang knew she didn't trust her, so she didn't say anything more and immediately took out the key she always carried with her and opened the door.

There was indeed no one at the US military's house; all the items and furnishings were exactly the same as the day they left.

Jiang Wan asked casually, "You haven't been back?"

Mi Mang shook her head: "No, I went home after you left that day."

She was really anxious and urged, "Please help me find my uncle! Something must have happened to him! I've searched the whole area around here, but I haven't seen him. Do you think he might have been locked up?"

That's what she actually thought, but she didn't have any evidence or the ability to go door-to-door to find people. She couldn't, but Jiang Wan and Cheng Zhen could.

Jiang Wan glanced at Cheng Zhen, who nodded. The next second, he opened the portal to another dimension, and a filthy figure, accompanied by a disgusting stench, appeared in the room.

This person is a U.S. soldier.

Cheng Zhen dragged him back from the refugee area in the north of the city, where he was being hit by a bunch of brats with ice and brick chips.

So even after returning here, he remained in a squatting position with his hands covering his head, still screaming in terror, "Don't hit me! Don't hit me! Ah! Ah!"

He certainly doesn't look like a normal person.

Jiang Wan and Cheng Zhen exchanged puzzled glances.

Mi Mang was even more stunned. She didn't have time to be amazed by Cheng Zhen's supernatural abilities; she just couldn't believe that the man in front of her, who looked less like a beggar than a human, was actually her uncle!

With trembling hands, she tried to pull him up and ask him what had happened.

Just then, the elevator outside made a noise again, and a man and a woman rushed out. Regardless of the scene, they went straight for Mi Mang. The man grabbed her with both hands, and the woman grabbed her hair and slapped her face with her other hand!

"You little bitch, you've got some nerve, haven't you? You don't listen to your dad and me anymore? We told you to go on blind dates! We told you to marry a man! What are you doing hanging around Mi Jun all day? Are you out of your mind? Are you just a jerk?"

Mi Mang struggled violently, a stark contrast to her usual sunny, cheerful, and smiling demeanor, and her previous patient and restrained nature. In an instant, she erupted, her face contorted with rage, her eyes bloodshot and wide, as she fought back with all her might.

She was completely different from the usual cheerful and gentle girl!

She screamed wildly in rebuttal: "You're crazy! You're talking nonsense! You want me to go on a blind date? I'm not going! Why are you dragging my uncle into this? He's in trouble and you all don't care! Are you even human?!"

The three of them instantly started fighting, but it was actually a couple ganging up on a young girl named Mi Mang, and they were even using their status as elders to warn Jiang Wan, who was standing nearby.

"Mind your own business! We're her parents. If we don't teach this unfilial daughter a lesson, she'll be completely out of control!"

Then she continued to pull on Mi Mang's hair, angrily yelling, "How old is your uncle? Why do you have to tell him what to do? Don't you know your place? How old are you? You're still hanging out with your uncle all the time. Have you no shame? Aren't you shameless? If word gets out, you'll make your father and me lose all face!"

Although Mi Mang's father didn't say a word, his furious expression and the way he forcefully restrained her made Mi Mang's heart turn as cold as a rock at minus forty degrees Celsius. She retorted:

"Pah! You were the ones who wouldn't let me in! I had nowhere to go, and it was my uncle who took me in! If it weren't for my uncle saving me, I would have been eaten by the mutated plants outside! I would have died long ago!"

"He's my uncle. He saved me; he's like a second parent to me. Now that he's in trouble, I have to help him. Let me go! Let me go!"

The woman's face was contorted with rage. She took a deep breath, then continued hitting and cursing:

"Shameless wretch! We worked so hard to feed you, drink you, and send you to a prestigious university, and you're not grateful! You got the plague and instead of running away, you came here to harm us! You ingrate! You deserve to die a horrible death!"

"Pah! Shameless bitch! You dare to run away? I've already made arrangements for you. You have to go today, whether you like it or not! He's a city guard! If you go with him, you'll never have to worry about food or clothing for the rest of your life! Even if you die today, you'll die in his bed!"

"I'm not going! I don't like it! He's so old, if you want to go, go yourself! You're trying to sell me off so you can count your money! You're not concerned about whether I can have a good life! You're concerned about your own future! Let me go! Let me go!"

Her voice was already hoarse, and even when she tried her best to shout, she could only make a small sound, which was completely drowned out by her parents' unbearable scolding.

Seeing this scene, what else could be unclear? Before Mi Mang arrived, she had been arguing with her parents—no, fighting.

Jiang Wan and Cheng Zhen stood by, dumbfounded, their minds racing: "They're beating and scolding her like this, is this girl even their biological daughter? And the amount of information they're conveying in their insults is just too much!"

A biological daughter was kicked out of her home by her own parents after contracting the plague?

She was rescued and taken in by her uncle, but her own parents spread rumors that she had an improper relationship with him.

Now that she's recovered from the plague, they've sold her off to sleep with the city's guards, hoping she'll have enough to eat and drink in the oxygen-deprived apocalypse.

Finally, the US soldier disappeared, and they, as his own brother and sister-in-law, didn't care at all? Now that he's in the room, they're acting like he's invisible.

What kind of bizarre couple are these?

Jiang Wan asked herself if she was a good adoptive mother, but she could never treat the twins like this. Whether it was Xiao Shu or Xin Xin, she couldn't bear to see them suffer even the slightest grievance. She couldn't get over it in her heart!

Therefore, even someone as cold and hard as Cheng Zhen and as indifferent as Jiang Wan felt that they were not human beings at all!

So when they dragged the exhausted and helpless Mi Mang to the door, about to leave the house, Jiang Wan hesitated whether to intervene.

The American soldier, who had been crouching on the ground with his head in his hands, looking dazed and confused, suddenly charged forward and knocked two people aside!

He didn't actually use much strength, but he was so dirty, his clothes were tattered and messy, and he smelled terrible. As soon as he got close, the two of them immediately let go of Mi Mang and took several steps back impatiently.

By retreating like this, he ended up right outside the door.

Jiang Wan rushed forward instantly and, without hesitation, swung her whip, slamming the door shut!

Exhausted, Mi Mang struggled to sit on the ground and tried to close the door, but she was too late. She didn't have time to thank Jiang Wan, and just stared at Mi Jun, calling out to him uncertainly, "Uncle?"
