Jiang Wan originally moved to Xiangcheng with her parents for work. She remembered that after her parents divorced, she and her mother left Xiangcheng and didn't return until she went to university. As for why she later lived here with her twins, she really didn't remember.
She searched her memory for all her relatives, making sure none of them would be there, before asking, "How many people are there, and what do they look like?"
“There were two or three, all men…” Mi Mang described their appearances.
Jiang Wan was even more certain that she didn't know her, but she decided to take some time to go back and see who was eyeing her house while she was away.
Although she had a property certificate, completed the household registration procedures, and activated the security system when she left, there's always a chance that something might happen. What if someone with the ability to break into her house or transfer her ownership status came online?
She thanked Mi Mang, who had come all the way to deliver the news.
Mi Mang shook her head: "It's what I should do."
Then she left with a blank face. The cheerful, smiling, and helpful little girl was gone. Now, Mi Mang was gloomy and prickly. She didn't talk to anyone except her uncle and was indifferent to everything around her.
The only reason she cared about Jiang Wan's family was because Jiang Wan had saved Mi Jun, and Cheng Zhen had even chased away her difficult parents that night.
"Xin Xin, how much have you dug up?" Jiang Wan put aside her own thoughts and went to check on her hardworking little girl. It was rare that she had been digging for so long today without complaining of being tired.
When she turned around, she saw her and Wu Xuan digging a big pit. She was hanging on the edge of the pit, head down, her hands digging and digging, her little feet kicking and kicking as she worked hard. It looked like she was about to fall in and bury herself.
Tsk, how stupid.
Wu Xuan was digging with her, but for some reason, she seemed to be challenging him and insisted on competing with him. So he simply slowed down and pretended to be serious, just to see what she would do.
Jiang Wan approached and lifted the silly girl, who was about to bury herself in the pit, up: "What are you doing?"
The silly girl waved her hands in protest, but when she heard her mother's voice, she pointed downwards with both hands: "Mom, look!"
Jiang Wan then realized that there was an oxygen stone at the bottom of the pit. It looked very big, which explained why they had to dig such a large pit and still couldn't get it out.
These two kids are quite clever; they discovered such a treasure, yet they remained completely silent.
Jiang Wan gestured and estimated for a moment, then said, "I'll do it."
If it all came down to the girl's efforts, they probably wouldn't have been able to finish it by nightfall.
This oxygen stone is really big, and it's buried very deep.
Just as she was digging, someone with sharp eyes noticed the commotion and shouted, "Look, a huge oxygen stone!"
"With this oxygen stone, we won't need to go out into the wild to dig for crystals anymore!"
At this shout, people around and in the distance raised their blank faces and looked over. Then, their eyes gradually lit up, and they gathered around Jiang Wan. In their greedy eyes, there was only one goal—to steal the crystals and oxygen stones.
Huang Ying grabbed Jiang Xiaoxin and Wu Xuan and pulled them back, but the city residents were coming from all directions, so where could she retreat to?
Jiang Wan stood up, flicked her right hand, and suddenly a rattan whip appeared in her hand. Without hesitation, she whipped back the nearest man and shouted, "Get out of the way! Or I won't be polite!"
Her whip moved at will; for example, if she showed murderous intent, barbs or blades would appear on the whip.
With one lash, the whip tore open the man's thick cotton-padded coat, wounding his flesh and drawing out a trace of blood.
Someone nearby gasped, clearly startled.
But many people saw them as just two women with two children, not much of a threat. They thought that as long as they worked together to hold down the woman wielding the whip, they wouldn't have to worry about not being able to grab the giant oxygen stone.
The main reason is that the allure of this oxygen stone is just too great. A small piece of it is worth five crystals, and this big one is worth at least a hundred crystals!
With this, would they still need to be worried about going into the wild?
Do you still need to worry about whether you'll be strangled by mutated plants or bitten to death by zombies?
So the temptation outweighed the fear, and everyone rushed in!
The city guards who were protecting them went to patrol the surrounding area. I never expected that in just a short while, my sister-in-law would encounter such great danger!
They were terrified and rushed back to rescue them, but before they even arrived, they saw a vine whip erupt from the center, suddenly transforming into countless vine whips that lashed out at once, sending those people flying through the air before crashing to the ground.
The little soldiers stood firm. Good heavens, Sister-in-law is awesome!
Cheng Zhen arrived at that moment, and upon seeing the scene, he frowned: "What happened?"
In the oxygen-deficient post-apocalyptic world, people relied on the city's defense forces the most and feared them the most. As soon as Cheng Zhen appeared, they scattered like birds and beasts.
"Stop chasing, just dig this up." Jiang Wan patted his arm, stopping him from chasing after the person.
Cheng Zhen originally intended to catch a few as an example to others, but she said it wasn't necessary, so he figured it wasn't necessary. At most, he would catch them and teach them a lesson later. Following her gaze, he couldn't help but laugh: "You guys are really lucky! You've encountered such a huge oxygen stone!"
He estimated that the size was definitely not small, so he summoned two city guards who had just failed to protect his sister-in-law and were terrified, and made them do hard labor.
People nearby were listening intently, but because of the city guards, no one dared to try and steal anything. They could only secretly envy and be jealous, and then they dug with all their might, hoping that they could have such good luck.
The silly girl proudly declared, "I discovered it!"
Cheng Zhen laughed and picked her up, unable to resist gently pinching her soft, round nose, teasing her, "Oh, so how did Xin Xin find out?"
She pointed to the ground with her little hand: "This little blade of grass told me!"
It's not surprising that she has a special ability to sense things and can perceive unusual things in her environment by communicating with plants.
Cheng Zhen laughed and praised her, "Our Xin Xin is so great!"
Jiang Wan found it strange, looked down at the ground, and then asked, "Xin Xin, where is the little grass you mentioned?"
How come she didn't see anything, or any surviving rhizomes underground?
Jiang Xiaoxin pointed her chubby little hand to the side: "It's right here!"
The city dwellers, still secretly watching with unwavering hope, felt even more resentful when they saw her white, tender, and plump hand: "Tsk, this child doesn't look like she lives in a resource-scarce, oxygen-deprived apocalypse at all!"
This is clearly a life of plenty, with no worries about food and clothing!
groove!
These city guards are truly scoundrels!
They pamper their own women and children, yet they expect ordinary people to go to the wilderness to dig for crystals and die! Why should they?
The more they thought about it, the more unwilling they became!
Following Jiang Xiaoxin's directions, Jiang Wan dug with a shovel and indeed unearthed a continuous stretch of roots. She immediately sensed something was wrong.
