Chapter 123 Killing Superpowered Zombies

Seeing that it was no match for the combined forces of Xia Feng and Zhou Xinyi, the intermediate-level zombie quickly turned and fled.

But they were caught off guard by the vines leaping up from their feet.

Lin Xuan had already manipulated the mutated plants underground to surround the intermediate-level zombie. As soon as the zombie turned around, its legs were entangled.

The sharp claws quickly severed the roots wrapped around its legs, but more roots kept burrowing up from the ground and clinging to it.

Unable to escape, the zombie roared even more furiously.

Xia Feng and Zhou Xinyi, however, did not give it another chance to escape.

Zhou Xinyi used all his strength, transforming his superpower into a large sword and slashing at the intermediate-level zombie.

Xia Feng also increased his power output, and a thick pillar of lightning, containing a ball of wind, pushed Zhou Xinyi's wind blade and struck the zombie's neck.

The wind blade was invisible yet incredibly sharp, almost severing the head of the intermediate-level zombie.

The plant roots beneath the zombie's feet pulled it to the ground, and the head and body of this monster, which resembled both a human and a beast, were still connected by a bit of flesh.

The crimson mouth on its head was still opening and closing, making a hissing sound, and its limbs were twitching reflexively.

Lin Xuan pulled out a machete from her spatial storage and forcefully stabbed it into the wide-open mouth, finally killing the mid-level zombie.

The most difficult zombie has been killed, and the remaining low-level zombies are easy to deal with.

With Dr. Liu's keen insight to assess the situation and direct everyone on how to attack, the situation became even more challenging.

They quickly wiped out the horde of zombies summoned by the intermediate-level zombies, as well as a few mutated animals that had come along to join the fun.

The number of dead and injured in this attack was higher than in previous ones, and most of the superpowered individuals had exhausted their abilities.

Zhou Xinyi was supported by someone to prevent him from falling.

Dr. Liu naturally took over the entire team.

He arranged for everyone to rest at the service station first.

The zombies in the service station were mostly driven away by the intermediate-level zombies.

A few people who were not injured, or whose injuries were not serious, went in first to check if any had escaped.

After confirming that it was safe, all the injured were placed in the large rest room in the service area building.

This service area is not very large, and after more than a year of the apocalypse, it is already in a dilapidated state.

Bai Botao treated several seriously wounded soldiers. At this point, it didn't matter which squad they were from; whoever was most seriously injured was treated first.

Those with minor injuries can simply ask their teammates to bandage them up; since superhumans have strong recovery abilities, there's no need to be so precious.

By the time all the wounded had been treated and settled, it was already late, and everyone except Lin Xuan and Dr. Liu was exhausted.

Xia Feng forced himself to prepare special meals for Lin Xuan, while Dr. Liu and a few other uninjured people worked together to cook dinner for everyone.

Lin Xuan felt bad about being idle, so she took out a small stainless steel pot filled with soil from her space and used it to ripen some vegetables, strawberries, and small watermelons for everyone to nourish their bodies.

"Wow! Wood-type abilities are amazing! I haven't seen so many fruits and vegetables in over a year. These cucumbers are so fresh and juicy. If only we had eggs, we could have cucumber and egg stir-fry."

The woman who spoke was named Xiang Qing, a water-based ability user. She was the woman in Luo Haoran's team who was seriously injured and sought treatment from Bai Botao.

Lin Xuan remembered her. She had suffered such serious injuries and gone through several life-or-death battles, yet she was still alive and could now get up and cook.

"This sister is really lucky," Lin Xuan thought to herself.

After planting the vegetables, Xiang Qing used them to cook, while Dr. Liu took the strawberries and watermelons and shared them with the team members.

The cool, sweet fruit was a great comfort to the team members who had just gone through a fierce battle.

Several of the seriously injured people ate fruit and their bodies perked up considerably.

Those who could still walk came over to thank Lin Xuan, making her feel embarrassed. She quickly helped Xiang Qing chop vegetables and cook soup to ease the awkwardness.

As soon as Lin Xuan made a move, Xiang Qing knew that this child had never done any work before, so she simply sent her aside to play.

At this moment, the scallion oil noodles that Xia Feng had made for her were ready, kept warm in the pot, and he urged Lin Xuan to eat them while they were hot.

The scallion oil noodles tasted a bit salty to Lin Xuan's discerning palate.

Lin Xuan has a light palate; food that's just right for others might be a bit too salty for her.

Xia Feng's hands were shaking from exhaustion, and he wasn't as precise as usual when adding the seasonings, so the noodles were indeed too salty.

In the past, this spoiled brat would absolutely refuse to eat a second bite.

However, Xia Feng is so weak now, yet he still insists on personally preparing special meals for her. No matter how heartless she is, she wouldn't do anything like being picky about food.

After forcing down a whole bowl of noodles, Lin Xuan felt a bit nauseous and drank several more cups of hot water.

The roasted meat and soup that Xiang Qing later brought her were too much for her to eat; Xia Feng cleaned them all up.

As night fell, heavy snow began to fall again.

All the glass doors and windows of the service area were shattered. People found some metal shelves and boards in the service area to block the door and prevent acid snow from being blown into the rest room inside.

Through the gaps in the wooden planks that blocked the wind and snow, Lin Xuan saw the snow falling outside, shimmering with silver light, and the firewood crackling as it burned.

A year ago, she, her brother, and Zhou Xinran stopped at a small supermarket next to a gas station on the side of the national highway on their way to City A.

There was a thick fog at that time, and Peng Xiaozhe got lost.

The fog that day, like the snow tonight, made people feel uneasy.

In the middle of the night, Lin Xuan, who usually slept like a log, suddenly woke up without warning.

As soon as she woke up, Xia Feng, who had been holding her, was also awakened.

"What's wrong, Xiaobao?" Xia Feng touched her cheek worriedly. Had his wife been frightened by the intermediate-level zombie during the day?

Lin Xuan did not answer. She struggled out of Xia Feng's embrace and quietly slipped to Dr. Liu's side.

Xia Feng followed closely behind and draped the fuzzy coat over her shoulders.

"Dr. Liu, Dr. Liu, wake up."

Dr. Liu and Han Mingwo were sleeping soundly together when Lin Xuan woke them up.

"What's wrong, Xiaobao?"

Dr. Liu had just woken up and his eyes were still a little drowsy.

"Come out here, Dr. Liu, I have something to show you."

Lin Xuan pulled Dr. Liu along to the corridor.

"Okay, okay, you told me to put on my coat."

After putting Han Ming's arm back on him, Dr. Liu put on the animal skin coat covering him and followed Lin Xuan out of the lounge.

Han Ming turned over, smacked his lips, and went back to sleep.

Lin Xuan, accompanied by Dr. Liu and Xia Feng, walked through the corridor to the side of the hall and into the reception hall inside.

The soldier on night watch glanced at the three suspicious-looking men but said nothing, assuming they were going to the toilet together.

Pulling Dr. Liu to squat in the corner, Lin Xuan looked a bit eccentric.

"Dr. Liu, didn't you say before that there are things in nature that can restrain each other, and that there are things that can control zombies?"

What did you discover?

Dr. Liu immediately grasped the key points in Lin Xuan's words.
