Dear readers, I'd like to clarify something here: the male and female leads in this book aren't the typical handsome men and beautiful women. The female lead's personality isn't perfect either; she's not very smart, a bit willful, picky about food, a bit dramatic, and spoiled and lazy. If you can't accept this, just don't read it. Headache, a pain that feels like it's going to churn my brain, an excruciating pain all over my body!
Lin Xuan endured a severe headache and the urge to vomit, struggling to open her eyes a crack. Through her blurred vision, she saw Xia Feng, whom she had trusted and relied on since childhood and who was closer to her than her own brother, lying in a pool of blood. He opened his eyes wide and crawled towards her with all his might.
Her tall brother was now reduced to half a body, the other half being chewed up in the mouth of a high-level zombie. Lin Xuan's heart felt as if it were being squeezed by the high-level zombie's hard and sharp claws. She stared wide-eyed at the nightmarish scene before her, struggling to squeeze out a breath.

However, what she saw next made her eyes widen in horror.
After swallowing Xia Feng's lower body whole, the high-level zombie leaped to Xia Feng's side, opened its mouth full of sharp teeth, and bit the remaining half of Xia Feng's body in one bite. Then it tilted its head back and swallowed the upper body whole.
The remaining part of his arm was outside, and his large hand with distinct knuckles still wore a gothic-style ring on his ring finger, which Lin Xuan had picked up on the way to the base.
The ring is shaped like a shield decorated with irises. Lin Xuan named the ring the Templar Knight Guardian Ring, saying that Xia Feng was his Templar Knight.
The ring would have fit perfectly on Xia Feng's little finger, but he insisted on wearing it on his ring finger. The ring, which was a size too small, was stuck on the second joint, making it look awkward. Lin Xuan knew he was persistent in his feelings for Xia Feng, but she had always regarded him as her older brother since childhood. She would feel awkward if their relationship changed, so she had not responded.
"Ahh!...Brother! Brother! Pfft..."
With a heart-wrenching scream, Lin Xuan spat out blood. Her gaze rose, and the purple vines binding her slowly dangled upwards before suddenly being flung onto a sheer cliff not far away.

"It's you, it's you, Balong! Why did you do this? Why? What have we, your siblings, done to wrong you? Tell me, tell me..."
"Pfft...cough cough cough..." Lin Xuan spat out another mouthful of blood, helpless and hysterical, "Ah! I'm going to kill you, I'm going to kill you!"
"Tsk tsk tsk... How pitiful, you culprit, aren't you coming out? If you don't come out soon, I'll die unjustly."
Ba Rong withdrew the dark purple vines that had been released from his left palm, his small eyes glancing contemptuously at the girl lying on the ground in a mess, his face full of ill intent.
The tall, muscular figure stepped aside, and behind him walked a woman in her thirties, with a slender, bright, and elegant figure. She wore a figure-hugging gray tracksuit and had a gentle smile on her face.
"Zhang Xiaoqi?..."
Lin Xuan looked at this woman, whom she and Xia Feng had rescued from a village on their way to City A.
She was barely alive when she was rescued. The men in the village raped her every day, beat her, fed her garbage, and ravaged her beyond recognition.
After the women who were imprisoned with her were rescued, they all stayed at a nearby shelter, but she was the only one who wanted to go to City A.
She said she had relatives in City A and wanted to go there to visit them. She hoped that Xia Feng and his sister could give her a ride, and that she would never cause them any trouble.
Xia Feng initially didn't want to take her along, but Zhang Xiaoqi's strength, independence, and courage moved Lin Xuan.
Lin Xuan knew that she was being a bit too saintly, but she was particularly drawn to Zhang Xiaoqi's character because her mother, Ms. Ye, was just like that. Her father died early, and Ms. Ye raised Lin Xuan alone, shouldering all the burdens of the family and never letting her suffer any hardship in life.

She also took great care of Lin Xuan in her daily life, showing her concern and warmth.
Lin Xuan even vaguely felt a long-lost maternal love, which truly seemed to have grasped her very lifeline.
Not long after, Lin Xuan began to trust her as if she were one of her own. They traveled together to the base in City A, joined the same hunting team, and fought together for more than four years.
She knew almost all of her secrets, including the source of her spatial abilities that she inadvertently revealed when she was drunk once.
But what's going on now? Is she dreaming? Her closest relative, Xiaoqi, besides her brother, is looking down at her, who is in a disheveled state, with a smile on her face, but her expression is strange and distorted.
"Alright, Barong, give us sisters some private time to have a heart-to-heart talk."
Barong strolled around, turned, and walked into the woods behind him, waving as he went.
"Hurry up, Xia Feng's body can't be digested for that long."
Lin Xuan stared intently at Zhang Xiaoqi, watching as her former good sister squatted down and wiped the blood from her face.
"Our little one, you must be terrified. Do you have a lot of questions you want to ask me?"
