Hearing the commotion, Bai Yifan grabbed a mop and ran over. "Sis, what's wrong? Who dumped you this time?"
Bai Xizhu sobbed softly, wiping away her tears. "No, I just dreamt that you were all dead."
Bai Anhai:......
Wang Yiyun: ...
Bai Yifan: ...
"Oh, I see!" Wang Yiyun adjusted her expression and pulled Bai Xizhu's arm towards the dining table. "It was just a dream. Our family is all fine. It's okay, it's okay. Come and try your dad's braised pork!"
Bai Xizhu nodded, tears still streaming down her face.
She hadn't cried during the three years of suffering she endured in the apocalypse, but the moment she saw her family, her pent-up grievances erupted, and she couldn't hold back her tears.
Bai Yifan silently put the mop aside and sat down next to Bai Xizhu. "Sis, next time you dream about someone dying, please bring my English teacher along."
Bai Yifan is 16 years old and a first-year high school student. He is a student whom everyone except his English teacher calls a top student.
He didn't have a problem with his English teacher; he just wanted to get extra English lessons while he was at school.
"What are you saying!" Bai Anhai slapped Bai Yifan on the head. "After you finish eating, mop the floor, then go back to your room and study hard. The college entrance exam is next year, and I don't even know if I'll be able to get into university!"
"Dad, I'm a freshman in high school this year, and I won't take the college entrance exam until the year after next."
Bai Yifan calmly placed a large chunk of braised pork into Bai Xizhu's bowl before picking up a piece for himself and burying his head in it.
"No matter when the college entrance exam is, you have to do well on the exam!" Bai Anhai said confidently.
Bai Yifan gave Bai Anhai a resentful look. "Dad, my English isn't good. Can you tutor me in English?"
"Eat! Why make such a fuss!" Bai Anhai glared at Bai Yifan. "When I was in school, I never caused my parents any trouble!"
Bai Yifan silently rolled his eyes.
He heard it all from his grandfather: when his father was in school, he never did his homework and was hung up and whipped three times a day!
"What's all this noise about!" Wang Yiyun slammed her hand on the table. "Let's eat!"
Bai Anhai winked and smiled at Bai Xizhu before burying his head in his food.
The dining table became much quieter instantly.
Bai Xizhu quietly watched the harmonious scene before her, feeling slightly dazed.
It was as if those three years had been a dream, a nightmare. When she woke up, she was still a senior college student about to graduate.
