Chapter 25 The Apocalypse Arrives

Bai Xizhu stared at her phone, slightly dazed.

She's still a senior in college!

The thesis defense is something I'll never get to do.

Bai Xizhu replied to Zhang Yiming: I didn't write it.

Zhang Yiming replied quickly, "How about I write it for you? I can finish it for you tomorrow."

Bai Xizhu was about to refuse when the apocalypse came. Why bother writing a thesis then?

However, considering that tomorrow is the end of the world, it's safer to stay at home.

So I replied decisively, 'Okay, remember to help me write my paper at home tomorrow!!!'

Zhang Yiming stared intently at Bai Xizhu's reply, his eyes curving slightly.

After replying with a simple "okay," he put his phone aside.

The computer interface displays programming software related to the frequency meter.

Zhang Yiming's slender fingers rapidly tapped on the keyboard, and numbers and letters appeared on the computer screen.

Suddenly, a drop of bright red blood fell onto the keyboard.

Zhang Yiming casually pulled out a tissue, wiped his eyes and the keyboard, and then casually threw the blood-stained tissue into the trash can.

The trash can was already half full of bloodstained tissues.

Zhang Yiming sighed almost imperceptibly, rubbed his eyes with his fingers, and a trace of blood stained his fingers.

Zhang Yiming stared at the red fingers for a while, then turned his gaze to the computer and continued typing.

The white keyboard was stained with blood; wherever the slender fingers pressed, a trace of blood appeared.

The red keyboard clicked all night, and Zhang Yiming stopped typing when the sun rose.

There were two extra bags of trash in the room, and a faint smell of blood lingered in the air.

Zhang Yiming didn't care about the smell of blood at all. He stood up, picked up the trash, and went to the toilet.

The red tissue was thrown into the toilet and then disappeared without a trace in a whirlpool.

January 21, 2022.

The 19th day of the 12th lunar month.

There are still ten days until the Chinese New Year.

Bai Xizhu and her family sat in the living room, feeling the energy around them.

"Sister, the energy has indeed become much more concentrated." Bai Yifan looked a little nervous.

He would rather have his photos and contacts exposed than have the apocalypse come.

Bai Xizhu went to the balcony and looked down. There were a few people going out for a walk downstairs, but fewer than before.

It seems that yesterday's warning was effective.

Bai Xizhu opened the window and looked up at the sky.

The sky was overcast, with occasional visible ash drifting down from above.

The ashes fell to the ground and disappeared.

"Xiao Fan, did you call your classmate online?"

Bai Xizhu glanced at her phone, a slight melancholy in her eyes.

Back then, around this time, the whole family went shopping together...

"I called everyone, and they're all online. They even sent me their locations; they're all home and haven't come out." Bai Yifan pointed to the computer in the living room. "I'll leave it running automatically!"

Automatic typing is a terrible thing, but who would bother attacking someone who's about to die?

"In a moment, carefully sense the energy around you, accept its baptism, and it would be best to use the energy for your own benefit," Bai Xizhu instructed.

"good!"

Bai Zhengxuan looked excited, and his wrinkles had lessened considerably.

He's going to work hard to improve his superpowers so he can enjoy braised pork knuckle!

Bang!

Suddenly, the sound of a car crashing came from the street.

Bai Xizhu glanced at her phone; it was 10 a.m.

Then, the computer in the living room suddenly went black and automatically restarted.

The family ignored the noise outside and sat cross-legged on the floor, quietly receiving the baptism of energy.

Bai Xizhu felt a powerful energy tide rushing down from the top of her head, as if she were in a static electricity field, and her head felt slightly swollen.

This energy kept washing over her body, seemingly trying to change every single cell.

Bai Xizhu followed the flow of energy, then carefully guided it to circulate throughout her body before converging in her brain.

Ordinary people can hardly feel this energy, but those with supernatural abilities can be very sensitive to the sudden energy tides.

Those who awaken their superpowers before the apocalypse can easily survive this ordeal, and may even enhance their abilities further.

Ordinary people are baptized without even realizing it.

Ordinary people cannot withstand the baptism; that energy will transform their bodies like a virus.

Or, they will become superhumans.

Or they will become the walking dead.

Or, he will remain an ordinary person.

People who become zombies lose their consciousness, develop a strong craving for blood, and turn into bloodthirsty monsters.

Their bodies are baptized by energy, causing mutations that allow them to carry a highly contagious virus.

Normal people who are scratched by them will turn into monsters just like them.

Outside, screams and the roar of cars mingled together.

Even from the eighth floor, the chaotic sounds below could be clearly heard.

They seemed not to hear anything, closing their eyes to receive the baptism of energy.

The amount of supernatural energy you capture at this moment will determine your status in the apocalypse tomorrow.

This energy surge lasted for two hours before it ended.

Fine beads of sweat appeared on everyone's foreheads; it was clear that everyone was very focused.

"Xiao Zhu, I feel like I can breathe more fire, spew more water, and sprout more buds!"

Bai Zhengxuan stretched out his fingers and squeezed, feeling that he had become much stronger.

Not only Bai Zhengxuan, but everyone's superpowers have improved a lot.

"As long as we practice more in the future, we'll be able to walk sideways in the apocalypse!" Bai Xizhu's eyes curved slightly.
