A thick layer of peach blossoms covered the ground, soft and yielding underfoot.
There were rows and rows of peach trees around me, and all I could see when I looked toward the village was pink and tender.
The whole village is covered in peach blossoms.
Soon, Bai Xizhu and her family stood in the place where the zombies had appeared in the photo.
Just like everywhere else, the ground was covered with delicate pink peach blossoms.
It seems that the hideous zombies never existed.
If it weren't for the camera capturing it, Bai Xizhu would have thought it was an illusion.
Zombies with ferocious appearances are usually low-level zombies that cannot control their instincts.
Upon seeing flesh and blood, they cannot suppress their bloodlust and will surely roar as they charge forward.
But it didn't; it even quietly left.
This means that a high-level zombie is controlling it!
"Could I have misread it?"
Bai Yifan swallowed hard and silently hid behind Bai Xizhu.
In crucial moments, my older sister's back is still the most reliable.
Bai Xizhu half-squatted on the ground, her fair fingers searching through a thick layer of peach blossoms.
Finally, Bai Xizhu picked up a peach blossom with specks of black blood on it.
Amidst the alluring pink of the peach blossoms, a drop of black blood clung firmly to them.
There really are zombies here, and maybe even high-level ones.
"Let's go into the village and take a look!"
Upon seeing the black blood, the eyes of Ms. Wang Yiyun and Ms. Liu Jing instantly brightened.
If one could dissect a zombie or apply makeup to a zombie amidst a sea of peach blossoms, it would surely be a very beautiful scene.
Bai Zhengxuan and Bai Anhai silently sensed the surging supernatural power within their bodies and were no longer as resistant as before.
He's a third-tier ability user, after all. Even if he can't beat them, he's definitely capable of running away with his wife!
Only Bai Yifan wore the same terrified expression as always.
Sigh, the fairies in the family have all spoken, and Bai Yifan doesn't dare to argue back. He can only walk in the middle, feeling very cowardly.
The family walked slowly into the village, stepping on the fallen peach blossoms.
At first glance, the village paths were lined with peach blossoms, all pink and tender, without a trace of the apocalypse.
Looking at the houses on both sides of the road, although the doors were closed, there was no sound of zombies roaring, nor any black blood splattered on the walls.
They didn't encounter a single zombie or a single person until they reached the very center of the village.
Look over there!
Bai Xizhu stretched out her finger and pointed in a direction.
In a family's home, wisps of smoke rise from the chimney, creating a peaceful and serene atmosphere.
It's already past noon, time for lunch.
"Giggle giggle—"
The sound of a chicken squawking suddenly came from another house.
The Bai family stood quietly in place, listening to the sounds.
The chicken's screams were so shrill that they would surely attract any zombies present.
After waiting for a while, there was still no movement.
However, in the few minutes of waiting, smoke began to rise from the kitchens of several other households in the village.
Everyone ate at the same time as usual.
"How about we go and take a look at their house?"
Liu Jing looked at the peaceful village with a puzzled expression, feeling that something was off.
The black blood on the peach blossoms I just saw clearly indicates that zombies are roaming the village.
However, the chickens' cries did not attract the zombies.
This is really strange.
Bai Xizhu touched her chin, still unable to see what was going on.
The scene in the apocalypse should be filled with black blood everywhere, the occasional roar of zombies, or mutated animals fleeing through the village.
Even if you're killing a chicken, you shouldn't make such a commotion.
Unless making a commotion in a safe base where there is little danger, in other places, especially where there are no people with superpowers, making too much noise could attract mutated animals and even trigger a zombie horde.
The family walked towards the house from which the noise came out, looking puzzled. Along the way, all they saw were peach blossoms and nothing else.
I kicked the peach blossoms away, leaving the ground clean.
There was neither black blood nor red blood.
Only the fragrance of peach blossoms filled the air.
Bai Xizhu took a deep breath and smelled the rich fragrance of peach blossoms.
The stench of decay on the zombie was barely perceptible; if Bai Xizhu hadn't confirmed that she had just seen black blood, she would have thought it was just her imagination.
The house where the chickens had just squawked looked ordinary; its gate was painted red, and all the gates in the village looked pretty much the same.
Bai Xizhu gently touched the water snake, then placed it on the ground.
A white light disappeared on the path strewn with peach blossoms.
Less than a minute later, the snake returned.
"Master, there are people here, they are killing chickens."
"It was a water snake," the snake whispered.
Bai Xizhu's family looked at each other in bewilderment. Could it be that the villagers had already slaughtered all the zombies, and what they had just seen were just the survivors?
Bai Zhengxuan straightened his clothes, silently took out the glasses from his pocket, and put them on.
With his glasses on, he looked like a refined old man, clearly an elderly gentleman.
Bai Zhengxuan felt that his image was acceptable, so he decided to knock on the door and ask about the situation.
If they say it, they say it; if they don't, they can just wander around the village some more!
Just as Bai Zhengxuan was about to knock on the door, a noise came from the west side of the village.
"Hehe--"
A sound, like that of a wild beast, came from the west.
There was more than one sound.
