Chapter 30 You're such a good person!

"It's alright! I scouted the place beforehand. There's a school across the street, and they're already on winter break. No one will see us come in so late at night," Bai Xizhu explained softly. "The door wasn't even locked, so it's no surprise that the things were stolen."

Wang Yiyun glanced silently at the sly-looking Bai Xizhu, feeling a pang of sadness.

Her daughter has always been someone who takes things one step at a time, and it's unclear what kind of nightmare could have turned her into such a cautious person.

As the mother and daughter walked out of the pharmacy, they saw Bai Anhai use his lightning-based supernatural abilities to kill a zombie.

Is it done?

Leng Yebai asked Bai Xizhu in a low voice.

"Alright, let's go to the gas station!"

Bai Xizhu rode her skateboard in one direction, with the others following closely behind.

"roar--"

The faint roars of zombies echoed behind me, making the quiet street sound especially eerie.

The zombies were slow, so we weren't afraid of them catching up. We turned a few corners and shook them off.

Bai Xizhu had already scouted out the location of the gas station, and had even walked there a few times.

Along the way, there were wrecked cars everywhere, causing traffic jams and making it difficult to move.

When the apocalypse breaks out, drivers desperately try to escape, but that's the most foolish thing to do.

Some drivers turned into zombies, their cars going out of control and crashing elsewhere.

There are so many cars stuck in traffic, how could they possibly get out!

The air was filled with the smell of burning, and the occasional howl of zombies could be heard.

The usually bustling streets suddenly became much quieter, so quiet it was unsettling.

The skateboards are very fast, and both elderly people can skillfully perform parkour on them.

Soon we arrived at the gas station, where several cars were waiting to refuel.

The skateboards were left aside, and the four of them took a few steps into the gas station.

Bai Anhai took a coin out of his pocket and threw it some distance away.

The sound of the coin hitting the ground was particularly noticeable.

"roar--"

The roars of zombies could be heard coming from the small building at the gas station.

After waiting for a long time, all I heard was the sound of a zombie banging on the wooden door, but I didn't see it come out.

It seems they're locked up inside.

Every now and then, zombies would run over from the roadside, but Leng Yebai and Bai Anhai would deal with them.

Wang Yiyun happily used a dagger to dissect the crystal core.

Bai Xizhu walked around the car to see if anyone was inside.

Several cars had their doors open, and one of the drivers had become a zombie.

The zombie was firmly pinned to the driver's seat, roaring angrily at the glass, but to no avail.

"Hey! Help!"

A faint cry for help came from inside a car.

Bai Xizhu frowned and walked to a white car.

The inside of the car windows was completely covered with newspaper, which is why there were people inside but they weren't discovered by the zombies.

The car's left window was lowered slightly, revealing only a gap about an inch wide.

Inside was a middle-aged man wearing glasses, who looked refined and cultured.

"Excuse me, is this a rescue operation?"

The middle-aged man was quite excited when he saw Bai Xizhu, and his whole body trembled uncontrollably.

"There's no rescue," Bai Xizhu said softly. "You can only save yourself now. It's not safe for you in the car. Go home quickly!"

There wasn't much food in the car, and if there was a level one zombie, it wouldn't be safe at all.

"No rescue?" The middle-aged man paused, then murmured, "Why isn't there any rescue!"

He wanted to drive back, but the streets were already blocked. There were already a lot of cars in this area, and then there was a chain-reaction car accident this morning because of that monster. How could he possibly drive out?

He could see it clearly from inside the car: if someone was bitten or scratched, they would turn into one of those monsters.

He didn't dare get out of the car, thinking he could just stay inside for a few days until rescue arrived and he could go home.

"Xiao Zhu, why haven't you started yet..."

Bai Anhai walked over, and before he could finish speaking, he saw the man in the white car.

"Teacher Liu?"

Bai Anhai was stunned for a moment.

"Attorney Bai?" The middle-aged man was taken aback when he saw Bai Anhai outside. "What are you doing here?"

"Ah, I'm here to find someone."

Bai Anhai looked slightly embarrassed.

"Will the rescue team come again?" Teacher Liu's face showed a hint of excitement.

"It's unlikely they'll come." Bai Anhai shook his head gravely. "Have you read any post-apocalyptic novels?"

Teacher Liu's eyes dimmed, and after a brief silence, she asked again, "Aren't you afraid of those monsters?"

“I’m scared, but we can’t keep hiding forever, Teacher Liu. You should find a safe place as soon as possible!” Bai Anhai said. “I remember your home is nearby. Go home as soon as you can!”

In crowded places, people can band together, which is one way to survive in the early stages of the apocalypse.

A person encountering a horde of zombies doesn't even have the chance to become a zombie!

"good!"

Teacher Liu gritted her teeth and slowly opened the car door.

The car can't be driven out; we can only walk back.

"Don't be afraid, zombies are actually quite slow. Here's a skateboard, do you know how to ride it?"

Bai Anhai handed Teacher Liu a skateboard.

Teacher Liu took the skateboard, her fingers trembling slightly.

“Yes, I have!” Teacher Liu looked at Bai Anhai with a serious expression and said, “Thank you, Attorney Bai, you are such a good person!”

"We're all friends, no need for such formalities," Bai Anhai said modestly.
