Chapter 328 Digging a Hole

After putting on his backpack, the short zombie picked up the shovel he had just placed aside.

The shovel dug a hole in the ground again and again, but the sharp shovel did not play its full role in the hands of the zombie, and the hole in the ground was still slowly forming.

"Are they going to plant trees?"

Bai Yifan subconsciously turned his head to look elsewhere.

It was only then that he realized that the fields that used to be on both sides of the road were now empty, with no crops growing on them.

The surface of the farmland showed signs of having been turned over.

But at this point, who will plow the fields?

"You're using the wrong force!"

Bai Yifan looked at the short zombie digging the hole, bent down slightly, and demonstrated a more effortless digging posture to the short zombie.

The short zombie slowly glanced at Bai Yifan with its dull eyes, then copied Bai Yifan's actions and dug a hole.

His stiff body was nowhere near as flexible as Bai Yifan's; he had learned a strange hybrid.

Bai Yifan shook his head, sat down listlessly, and watched the short zombie dig a hole.

"Brother Zhang isn't going to make you take turns digging holes, planting trees, and cultivating the land, is he? How long will this clearing of land take?"

Bai Yifan looked at the cultivated land in front of him with a slight sense of emotion.

Sure enough, there are many zombies, so there is strength.

Even if each zombie comes and digs one hole at a time, it won't be long before a large area of farmland is cultivated.

Bai Yifan tilted his head, looking at the short zombie who was diligently digging a hole, still feeling a little confused.

Zombies don't need to eat food, so why does Brother Zhang grow food?

After thinking for a long time, Bai Yifan still couldn't come up with a solution.

Perhaps, maybe, they're planning to trade food for humans!

This was the only answer Bai Yifan could think of.

The short, rotting zombie's fingers, like those of a Parkinson's patient, trembled as it dug a hole.

They dug the hole, shovel by shovel.

Black blood dripped down the shovel and into the soil.

Bai Yifan touched his nose. Perhaps it was just his imagination, but he felt that there was a stench of decay everywhere.

The short zombie digging the hole had a mission, but Bai Yifan was genuinely bored.

Bai Yifan watched the pit the short zombie had been digging for as long as he could, resting his chin on his hand.

The zombie covered in mud stood there expressionless for quite some time.

When the sun was high in the sky, the short zombie finally dug a hole.

This pit isn't particularly big, but it's not small either.

It looks a bit strange.

Bai Yifan suddenly remembered the funeral he had seen in his village when he was a child.

The pit used to bury the coffin was about this big.

The zombie that had been standing motionless to the side began to move.

Its shoes were gone, revealing its rotting feet that were almost completely blended into the mud.

The rotting feet slowly walked towards the deep pit.

Step by step, his stiff body made creaking sounds, as if it were about to fall apart at any moment.

Zombies generally don't know how to jump over pits; they just walk straight ahead without bending their knees.

Before Bai Yifan could warn him, the rotting foot stepped onto the top of the pit, and the mud-covered zombie fell into it.

With a thud.

Accompanied by the sound of bones breaking.

Bai Yifan instinctively covered his ears, but he still heard the sound of bones breaking.

Bai Yifan didn't have the courage to look down into the pit.

Without even looking, you can tell that the zombie has fallen to the bottom of the pit in a bizarre position.

Unlike funerals in the village, its body wasn't placed upright or lying down; it simply fell into the pit.

Bai Yifan calmed himself down and looked at the short zombie beside him.

"It fell into the pit."

Even though he knew the mud-covered zombie had jumped into the pit on its own, Bai Yifan still gave the short zombie a warning.

Bai Yifan always felt something was off about zombies that didn't eat people; he felt uncomfortable, but he still couldn't help but care.

It's not because the zombies don't eat people that we care about them.

I just felt that they were Zhang Yiming's underlings, so they were allies and friendly forces on our side.

I should at least offer a friendly reminder.

The short zombie nodded politely to Bai Yifan, making a "hoarse" sound in its throat.

Rotten fingers gripped the shovel as he walked step by step toward the spot where the zombie had fallen.

Bai Yifan stood aside and watched.

The short, rotting zombie had no expression on its decaying face. Its rotting fingers gripped the shovel tightly as it slowly raised it.

His blank eyes glanced at the bottom of the pit, and under Bai Yifan's shocked gaze, he slammed the shovel down.

The shovel and the head made a dull thud.

As the shovel was slowly lifted, Bai Yifan immediately noticed the black blood on it.

Clearly, the zombie below has probably already been split open.

The shovel was raised and then lowered.

Another dull thud was heard.

One, two, three...

When Bai Yifan saw a bone fragment hanging on the shovel, the short zombie finally stopped.

Bai Yifan's face turned pale, and he subconsciously took a step back, completely terrified.

Why did our zombie suddenly split its head open like that?!

The scene of a zombie digging a hole and cracking open another zombie's head is both bizarre and unexpected.

Bai Yifan's legs were shaking.

The short zombie seemed to realize that Bai Yifan was afraid, and a rotting smile appeared on its lips as it looked at Bai Yifan.

The smile on the rotting face was ultimately somewhat inappropriate.

Bai Yifan's face turned even paler.

The short zombie threw the shovel on the ground and slowly lay down on the edge of the pit.
